This place is my home away from home. Everything about it keeps me coming back! The welcoming staff, the creative pizza combinations, their one of a kind desserts, and that atmosphere.
To order:
The bread and basil butter is AMAZING and great for sharing. The bread arrives steamy and warm, and the butter is seriously the best thing since sliced bread. Sometimes I eat the butter with my pizza crusts! It's just that good. :)
I highly recommend the Margherita: basil, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. This classic pizza really shows the quality of the ingredients they use and the wood-fired oven bakes this pie to perfection.
I also recommend the Lucia: salami, crispy garlic, mozzarella, and jalapeno jelly. This pie sounds strange but man does it have a great flavor! The crunch of the garlic with mushrooms (I'm vegetarian so I sub the salami) and melted cheese could be a pizza all it's own, but then they top it with a house made jalapeno jelly and I fell in gluttonous love.
Desserts
Treat yourself to a one of a kind dessert you won't get anywhere else! The owners/cooks are very creative, pushing themselves when it comes to everything on their menu, and the desserts aren't exempt from their mad science in the kitchen!
This is, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Abilene. Y'all know how to make a girl feel at home because I always leave fat and happy haha. Keep up the great work!
Love this place! The pizza is fantastic with tasty beer and wine to take it over the top!! Don’t skip out on the meatballs or desert cause once you finally experience what you’ve been skipping you will (silently or audibly.. you do you) die of pure sadness!! The owners and staff are awesome and fully concerned with your satisfaction. It’s time to frequent this downtown staple, cause they’re always cooking up something new and amazing!
The best pizza I have ever had.
We were passing through Abilene on our way home and stop to have lunch with family that lives nearby. Our waiter Christian was so helpful and friendly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The prices were very reasonable. We hung out for about 2 hours just visiting. I would recommend this place to anybody and everybody.
Wonderful lunch experience! Our group was under a bit of a time crunch and when Jessica found that out, she immediately communicated it to our server, who did an excellent job of getting us everything as quickly & efficiently as possible. The bread & salads were delicious, and then oh my! The pizza!! I'm guessing there's nothing else like it in Abilene. Fresh ingredients, unique flavors, perfect crust, and the best customer service we've received anywhere in a very long time! The prices were very reasonable, too! I only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the warm atmosphere & maybe some dessert! Perfect stop downtown on our way to the Paramount & we made it to our show in time! We will definitely be back!
This place is so unique, great staff and fantastic food! I love taking anyone to lunch here a good place for catching up or a small business meeting. The butter is the bomb!

Every time we eat here it is always wonderful. I'm not a pizza person in general because every other places pizzas are normal. Vagabond goes above and beyond to get my taste buds going in amazing ways. And the flatbread and dip is to die for. Jessica is always at the door to welcome us and thank us when we leave. It's definitely a one of kind place.
We love Vagabond! Their wood-fired pizza is amazing - the crust was perfectly crispy non the outside, perfectly chewy on the inside, and the smoky flavor from their wood-fire oven is great. I’m used to wood-fired pizza being dry and too crispy but theirs has been perfectly cooked every time.
My husband loves the Lucia pizza (that jalapeño jelly drizzle 🔥) but my favorite so far has been the Maria that has a surprisingly delicious egg yolk sauce.
The first time I visited, they had an elote arancini appetizer that was out of this world (a fried street corn risotto ball?! Yes, please!).
We’ve always been too full to try dessert but their dessert specials always look incredible! They obviously pour a lot of passion, skill, and creativity into their food.
We have been so impressed each visit with the quality of their food, the service, and the atmosphere (love that you can see their brick oven in the corner of the dining room!) - a small business in downtown Abilene that is easy to support.
If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly recommend it!

Wonderful food and wonderful service at this visually compelling brick oven pizza spot.
Whoever opened this place absolutely loves paying attention to detail. Everything is super cool from the way they present the silverware, to the way they serve table water in old wine bottles, even down to the attention to detail in the bathrooms. For example, they have a Tide pen in the restroom, presumably in case you get some sauce on your shirt while you're eating!
We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance, and I would highly recommend a trip here.
Best pizza I've ever eaten. That says a lot coming from me. Nice employees, amazing flavor, fun interior, and just a great place. Also for people with allergies (specifically dairy) they have an amazing cheese-less pizza which was OUTSTANDING!
When we walked into Vagabond pizza we were greeted with the Southern hospitality Texas is known for-thank, you Jessica! The atmosphere here is amazing. Unless you arrive at 5 pm when they open-be prepared to wait. The wait was worth it! We loved the 3 pizzas we ordered. My daughters were still talking about it the next day! They like to consider themselves pizza connoisseurs and 100% said they would return. We love to support small businesses and the quality and customer service they provide was a testament to the hard work of the owners. We are new to town and they were so welcoming. Many blessings and continued success to this fine establishment. Do yourself a favor and visit Vagabond pizza.
I've always recommended this place to everyone new to Abilene. If you love pizza, you MUST try Vagabound'a Pizza, they are fantastic, and not just in the pizza department. This is one of their features desserts right now, the Rocky Road, and I was shocked at the presentation. It tasted just as good as it looked! Service is great, and of course with such great food, it's always busy, but trust me it is ALWAYS worth the wait!
What a great pizza! This place in Abilene is very similar to Cane Rosso that many people will be familiar with in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Amazingly friendly staff greets you in and out of the establishment. I sat at the bar by the oven and watched all the pizza action. The bartender was knowledgeable about all of the beers on tap and made suggestions when asked.
They have a small but solid craft beer selection and multiple wines by the glass/bottle.
The pizzas are outstanding. Definitely worth the stop if you are driving through Abilene and want to grab a great pizza.
They also sell t-shirts, hoodies, and ball caps. If you want a souvenir.
Service was great and the food was delicious, you'll even finish the crust and great variety of wine.
Perfect environment for a date.
