The restaurant is transformed from a house which gives it cozy and intimate atmosphere. Staffs are wonderful. It's on a bit pricey side for the food they served. Food presentation was beautiful. Duck breast tasted so so. But the scallops were great.
Amazing food, very friendly service! Great selection even during COVID times. Our server Gail was so kind and made us feel welcome. I definitely will be coming again to this quaint French restaurant.
Happy to see that this place is still open.
Best place for authentic French cuisine.
Eating here is always a pleasure.
Will definitely come back
I've been going to Le Lyonnais since 1991.
Disclosure: I went to school with Chef Gerard Labrosse's son, which is how I first ate such delicacies. For my first meal, I had the Steak au Poivre, and for dessert, a crazy confection called «Délice Antoinette». It's a pair of floating flans, suspended in a Brandy snifter filled with crème Anglaise, corked with a pound cake soaked in rum, topped with whipped cream and raspberries.
Suffice it to say that it was easily the most delicious thing I'd ever ingested, and that's *after* a juicy, perfectly cooked Steak au Poivres with delectable Bearnaise sauce.
In the decades since, I've taken friends, my wife for the best Thanksgiving ever (oh my God, the duck), parents, my children - anyone who may appreciate truly authentic French cuisine. None left disappointed.
The restaurant is a converted house, with multiple rooms, a terrific wine list, nice and quiet, refined without any pretense. Chef Gerard is from Lyon (hence the name) and «la carte» is deeper than a Chinese food menu. Trout, duck, steak, coq au vin, the menu is endless. The wine and drinks menu is very deep and all very well-priced. You'd pay twice as much at a Michelin restaurant that wasn't half the inspired labor of love for Chef Gerard and his wife, Joan.
Do yourself a favor and treat yourself - bring a party, gorge yourself on authentic French cuisine and enjoy a superb repast that you won't find anywhere else - not in NYC, not at a Boulud eatery, not even en France. Just make sure you come hungry, and ready to try dishes you will never find anywhere else.
My husband and I enjoyed our meal and time at Le Lyonnais. The atmosphere is like sitting in someone's home and removes all the hustle and bustle from eating out these days. We thought the escargot was the best we had eaten and our entrees were cooked perfectly. Our server was knowledgeable regarding the menu and quick to answer any questions. One highlight was meeting the chef himself. What a pleasure!
Very welcoming and great service even though there was only one waitress. I loved the atmosphere and being able to see the chef was a treat.
