Good food. Reasonable prices for lunch. I had the chicken paprikash. It was tasty, with just the right amount of heat(spices). I had coke for my beverage, and apple strudel for dessert. My check was just at $15. BRING CASH-be aware that this restaurant has a SURCHARGE if you pay with a credit card. The restaurant was generally clean, but the carpet could use a little bit of scrubbing.

This restaurant has been a "must eat" establishment in Akron for almost 100 years. It is still family owned and operated. I've had a great experience every time I've been here. I had forgot about this place but I've recently rediscovered it. Known for as a Croation/Serbian restaurant that also offers plenty of standard American dishes and specials. The chicken paparikash is really good and the dumplings really help make the dish. The portions are large and seem to be even bigger when you take out. My girlfriend ordered the Grilled Pleskavica spicy...grilled sausage type of dish...it tasted good but was not her favorite dish. The desserts are sooo good. I've had the strudel and they are delicious. The custard cake is worth driving out of your way for.
Staff is helpful and sweet. The prices are still pretty reasonable even with today's inflation!

Hospital food at best🤢 the meatloaf tasted like something from a can. No flavor and very dense. If you're gonna use instant mashed potatoes, there is a way to make them so they don't taste like instant mashed potatoes. At least make the effort. Don't some mashed potatoes on a plate and put gravy over it. The gravy runs off. Use your scoop, place the mashed potatoes on the plate and make a center so when you add the gravy, the mashed potatoes hold the gravy. Shingle meatloaf over mashed. Plate presentation was horrible. I judged the meal before I even tried it. I know just by looking at it, it wasn't going to be good. I'm 38 and been cooking in kitchens my whole life since the age of 16, and many from scratch kitchens. Coming from someone who truly knows, you can do better than this. And in a world that is tough for restaurants, step up your game. You have lots of competition. I get the cost aspect, but you can still produce decent tasting food with very little and not breaking the budget.

Food is edible but needs work...the cheese dessert is dripping with sauce. It shouldn't do that...and someone new is making the dumplings... they taste like flour....& how do you make fried chicken taste so bland. I used to love the food but you lost the flavor.

The strudel is addictive! I also love Turkish coffee and this is the only restaurant in Akron that I've been able to order it. I love this family owned business, it's evident that they put their hearts and souls into this restaurant. I briefly worked here years ago- they are very clean and sanitary. I think family owned businesses care more about things like that. I've heard horror stories from employees of other restaurants. Nothing like that would ever happen here with the food. Great food and service

The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. Our waitress did not have the answers to our liquor questions but came back with the correct information quickly. My dinner companion and I ordered the baked, stuffed, chicken breast and were very disappointed. They were dry and bland. No amount of gravy or salt made them any better.

We went to New Era for our church's Valentine's Party. The server was great, the food all came out hot to everyone. The paprikas was delicious. This is our second visit and everything was the same last time.

My family stopped in for St. Patrick's Day. There was at least 15 of us. Service was phenomenal. I can't remeber her name, but the orders were right, no mix ups. Food amazing. Best corn beef and cabbage ever. We will be back.
