The food and service are absolutely fantastic here! Definitely a comfort food/meat and potatoes cuisine with lots of flavor. The summer borscht is very refreshing and beautifully presented with the pink color from the beets, white from the dollop of sour cream and hard boiled eggs bits, and splashes of green from fresh dill. No matter how full we get, we always make room for the white cake dessert. The crust of the cake takes it to another level: Lithuanian cookies and sunflower seeds. A subtle but surprisingly pleasing flavor. I love the dark red beer because it's slightly more sweet than bitter and not hoppy at all. The prices are great for the amount of food you get. You are not cheated by any means. We will be coming here every Sunday for lunch.

I'm Lithuanian and we are all very happy to have a place that serves authentic Lithuanian food here in Bay Area. Staff and owners are friendly. Food is as good as my mama cooks and my mama really knows how to cook. And their Beer Garden is great for larger groups of friends.

By living in Lithuania I can honestly say the food is very authentic and what can I say "SVYTURYS" is the best beer ever and still one of my personal favorites besides Stella Artois!!! up for this place!!! Try this place really.

LOVE this place. And it just keeps getting better... now they've even added a bakery! My favs: balandeliai (stuffed cabbage rolls), zemaiciu blynai (potato pancakes stuffed with meat), and koldunai (flour dumplings, I like with meat and mushrooms). Oh, and don't forget to try some honey cake for desert! SOOOOOO good!

Great restaurant really friendly service!! Going for lunch was nice we got to sample a lot of the menu with half orders :) our favorites were the cabbage rolls which have an awesome tangy sauce and some heavy hitting flavorful spices with pickled garlic (which was a first for me and awesome!) and the summer borscht which had a nice refreshing very lightly pickled taste which was lovely. We also got to try the kvass drink which was a first and was kind of tasted like rye bread mixed with raisins! Very unique. I haven’t been to Lithuania but the restaurant reminded me a lot of my visit to Czech Republic with the very old school pub restaurants with the heavy wooden chairs and brick along with cute wooden decor. Very fun

Oh man! I always love exploring ethnic restaurants where the flavors are unique, especially when they are as rare as this place, apparently the only one on the West Coast! Even the host was very sweet and pleasant (and actually speaks Lithuanian!), giving good recommendations on what to get! The flavors were homey and you can definitely tell they made everything with love! Definitely try the beer here with your food. The patio in the back was a nice experience, so you don’t have to do only takeout!

When I’m missing my friends in Lithuania this makes me feel as close as I can be there. Beer is some of the best and the food is just like being there. Staff is friendly and food is quick. If you want some filling good tasting food you must try.

Came here when visiting SF last week. Yum! The waitress was very sweet. We ordered as much as we could since originally I’m from Lithuania and my boyfriend is Italian so he wanted to try all the goodies too. Everything was great except for garlic bread because it was soggy and wasn’t fresh( it’s supposed to be hot and crisp). And then KIBINAI was really weird. Not my taste. But hot beet soup was great, chicken cutlet was great, CePelinai was great and dumplings were great. Šviturys beer was good on tap!🍻🍲🥘💪🏼🇱🇹🇱🇹🇱🇹

I've never had Lithuanian food before, and seeing this restaurant on Gmaps peaked my curiosity. I am extremely glad I followed my interest into Mama Papa. The food is delicious, humble, and deeply satisfying. I ordered more things than one meal required because I was so interested. I wasn't disappointed, each dish was incredibly tasty. I took my leftovers home and am enjoying them now as I write this review. I couldn't recommend this place any more highly. The chilled summer borscht particularly hits the spot for me. It makes gazpacho (which I like) seem weak and pathetic. My Mom ordered a Lithuanian beer and said it was delicious, she liked it enough to make note of the brand so she could acquire more. My only problem or issue was the chairs, they're heavy and over built and I kept banging my legs into them. Could be a tall person issue. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. They answered all my dumb questions about the food and the country and seemed pleased to do so. Really, everything about this place was great. I don't live in Alameda, but I'll still be coming back. It's worth the drive for food, service, and atmosphere as fantastic as Mama Papa has. 11/10

I have been coming back to this place for the past five years. Everyone I have brought here has always enjoyed the comforting and homie but exotic food. Even better that food and services is improving with every visit. Will be back more frequently!

Great food and great service! I came here for lunch and enjoyed everything we ordered. The chicken goulash was awesome, and so were the potato pancakes. I definitely plan on coming back so I can try more of their dishes.

Excellent service and food. Feels like eating at home. Everything freshly looked in a cozy ambience. Service was also fabulous. The food took a a little while to come but the taste was so authentic; the wait was worth it. Good selection of beers, appetizers and desserts.
