The server and service is excellent. Was not expecting "Midwest nice " here.
I asked how spicy the chiles were and the server gave me a sample of chips to try. She also gave me some soup since I didn't want a certain side . I was given a free dessert.
The fry bread was yummy. It is simple, just add some honey to it. The brisket was delicious, tender and full of flavor.
The serving size is quite large!
They have a parking lot.
Come here for some good New Mexican food.

Delicious margaritas and enchiladas. We went at lunchtime on a weekday and it was a bit busy. The dining room is pretty small but otherwise everything was great! Friendly staff and I got free flan for my birthday.
DELICIOUS AND TASTY MEXICAN FOOD!!! This restaurant sure does raise the bar for Mexican food. My green chile burger was the best Mexican burger I’ve ever had, and the green chicken enchiladas are a masterful combination of flavors and textures that are sure to make your eyes pop and your taste buds craving for more. Simply delicious. And the staff works hard to make sure everything gets taken care of for you. Great job!
Great place. The service was great. The pork taco and ribeye taco was tasty. and the rice is the best Mexican rice I ever had
What a treat! Went here because of the great reviews. It was fabulous. We shared a huge brisket quesadilla. It was perfect! We ordered the queso bowl it was so creamy and delicious! I will definitely be eating here again when we come through. Only negative is the Pepsi products.
Was on a cross country drive and stopped here because I saw it had phenomenal reviews and I was quite blown away! I’m not certain as to the true “Mexican Authenticity” of the dishes they serve as I am quite clearly a white boy. But besides that… The combination plate was absolutely incredible. It had everything I wanted to try, the brisket was REALLY good, although I will say it was slightly over cooked. They might prepare the brisket earlier in the day and reheat it as needed. But this isn’t a brisket restaurant so for what it is it’s pretty damn good. If you’re looking for amazing Mexican food in Albuquerque this is definitely the spot. Enjoy!
I got the brisket burrito and it was delicious. The brisket wasn’t too salty but very flavorful. The salsa I went half red half green and definitely recommend the red, the green was extremely spicy.
The horchata was out of Mexico good, not genuine but good.
The beans and fideo were also good!
Visiting Albuquerque and randomly found this place on google. Its delicious! The service is amazing and the portions are massive. I would strongly recommend. Good margaritas too!
This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at. It started with just chips and salsa and I tell you that this was the absolute best chips and salsa i remember having in a very long time. The chips were perfectly salted and fried. The green salsa was a little spicy but I didn't care and still just kept eating it because it was so good. The red sauce was just as good only not quite as spicy.
I decided on the ribeye burrito because I've had Carne asada burritos, beef burritos, chicken burritos, but I've never had ribeye burritos. It was amazing and I decided to go with the red sauce for it.
I can't wait to bring my wife here the next time when we come back through Albuquerque.
A fun and packed place full of helpful weight, people and food that's delivered quickly. Recently priced and quite tasty. As you can see from the pictures we ordered quite a bit and we were happy with everything. When they say spicy. It's pretty spicy so adjust if you're not from this part of the world. Lots of interesting side dishes. Don't miss out on them.
Yummy New Mexican food! In photos: chips and salsa, Mexican combo, enchiladas (New Mexican style, flat kind), taco plate, burrito with green chile. FYI the green chile is on the spicier side for anyone not used to it. We also had sopapillas after dinner. Refried beans were a little dry for my taste. Everything was pretty good though!
Amazing food! Try anything with the brisket and the green chili stew is a must try. Staff is super friendly and attentive.
I haven’t had much in the way of New Mexican food, but had heard good things about Cocina Azul, so I stopped in this evening around 6 pm for dinner. First thing I noticed about the restaurant was it’s simple decor, and that it was bustling. There was a steady flow of people going in and out of the place. The wait staff were busy, but were keeping it together without missing a beat. I was by myself so took a bar seat and a look at the menu. Ariana was my server, and I asked her for recommendations, and ended up going with the Carne Adovada Rellenos. I had tried a similar dish at another restaurant, and was hoping to be able to compare the two. Ariana brought my plate out and I tucked in. Within two bites I knew there was no comparison, Cocina Azul blew the other spot out of the water. As I ate over the course of an hour, the restaurant got busier (another good sign) with progressively larger groups coming in. The staff hung in there, without missing a beat, and I finished my meal off with a horchata and a sopapilla (again recommended by Ariana). From the way the staff handled themselves, to the quality of the food, I highly recommend Cocina Azul.
Another winner, Cocina Azul, in Albuquerque! The server said anything with the brisket is awesome and they aren’t wrong!! The brisket is seasoned perfectly, with a hint of citrus. The rice and calabasitas are buttery and flavorful. The corn tortillas are soft and pliable, they appear homemade. The red sauce is a little on the warm side, but a little splash complements the brisket. And they ended it with a steaming hot sopapilla Awesome! 👏🏻👏🏻❤️
Best New Mexican food around! A Native Mexican’s 💯%‼️ Stamp of approval! Best Quality food, & service! Ask for Sopapillas & enjoy w/Honey! You’re Welcome!
An authentic southwest experience. Come for the green chili and stay for the sides. You can opt for rice and beans but don't overlook the posole and fideos. Quality service and delicious eats.
Non food related: the bathrooms are super clean and kid friendly. Parking can be tricky at popular times even with the additional parking across the street. 10/10 always worth the drive here when in Albuquerque!
As we were driving west a few years ago (& approaching Albuquerue), we looked online for some local flavor for our dinner & discovered good reviews for Cocina Azul. It was so wonderful that we always returned on our yearly drives out west & timed our drives so that we would arrive between 2 & 6 so that we could enjoy the memorable food. We recommend Concina Azul without hesitation to anyone who values great food & wonderful experiences.
First I have to say that when inquired about the fried fish tacos and found out they were supposedly hand dipped and haddock I was sold!! It soon turned disappointment. We were given 6 small tacos with 3 tiny medallions worth of fish (nuggets) which did not come hot straight out of the oil; if they had they may have tasted better. The fries and guacamole were good. Nothing was hot or worth writing home to momma for. Sorry.
