Looking for good BBQ? This place has really good food. The prices are a little overpriced. I love the Mac and cheese!! The potato salad you must try!
Great atmosphere with a family owned commitment to service and quality. The smokers and chords of pecan wood are visible to the dining room. Each table is accompanied by a holster of house made sauces, a variety of six to try. The hottest sauce, their Nuclear sauce is pretty warm I bought my dad a quart for $9. Tried the brisket it was some of the best I've ever tried and is probably unbeatable fresh off the smoker. All in all, top 3 BBQ joints in ABQ.
The pulled pork is exceptional
Get the Cole Slaw. Perfect lunch hour destination. Diverse client base with consistent (and pretty darn good) food. Staff is accommodating. There is plenty of room for large families. Also a good spot to conduct business (if you don't mind chewing with your mouth full: good portion sizes). I recommend the pulled pork with a side of coleslaw dumped on your sammich'!
Great pull pork. We have been wanting to try out this place for sometime now. And its great! first time we went we got the Pulled pork meals one 1/2 order and one jumbo (which comes with more meat). It was excellent came with two sides and bread. We dined in and they have 6 different BBQ sauces at all the tables to try! We got the number 1 semi sweet perfect bbq taste! The prices are high but worth it. Like the atmosphere, except it was cold in there. We also ordered 1 pound of the pull pork to take home, came with bbq sauce of our choice as well. I would go here over rudy's any day!!!
Can You Say "Brisket?!". It's really good. Found the brisket to be tender and flavorful. Love the choices of sauce. Get to try a lot of different flavors. Very filling and satisfying!
Takeout the meat and fix it at home. The BBQ chicken and brisket were nicely done; not too fatty, and no one had any major gristle betwixt the teeth. We were underwhelmed by the white bread buns, lackluster coleslaw, and mediocre banana pudding. We liked the sani-wipes for cleanup after the meal. I'm thinking: get the meat as takeout and sauce it up at home with your own 'fixins.

Tasty sandwiches, quick service, and clean place to bring your family....and best yet great prices!!!!
Awesome brisket, and sauces for everyone's taste. Best I have had
Best potato salad. Great food! Love the meats. Sauces are great and it is fun to try all the different kinds. Rolls are bleh...rather fill up on the meat and POTATO SALAD. A bit pricey...but worth it.
I kid you not....best.potato.salad.ever.
The sauces are the best part!. I have been to Whole Hog for lunch and dinner. Both times I ordered the pulled pork which was tender and had rich smoky flavors. No question that the best part about this place was bbq sauce. Each table has 6 different sauces that range from sweet molasses to spicy & tangy. The sides were ordinary at best, but then again you don't go to a place called "Whole Hog" for the coleslaw.
Love It!. This place is totally awesome! I got dizzy just reading the menu and the sampler platter did not disappoint me. I really like this BBQ joint and will continue to go back.
Great BBQ. We finally tried out Whole Hog last night as it is almost walking distance from where we live. Everything hit the spot! My pulled pork sandwich hit the spot and they did not skimp on the meat. I sampled most of the sauces and put several on my sandwich. The coleslaw that accompanied my dinner was good as well and I even topped some on my sandwich. The ribs did not disappoint either. My bf enjoyed how meaty they were and stuck with the #2 sauce. We had heard about the potato salad and it was spectacular. He sopped up his baked beans and bread as well. I would like to try out the brisket as well so we may split a combination plate next time. Service is extremely fast and prices very reasonable. Check it out if you haven't found a good BBQ place in ABQ yet!
The BEST barbecue in Albuquerque in my opinion. There are six different BBQ sauces at each table (and an extra super hot one that you have to request). The beef brisket & pulled pork are both outstanding, & they have the most awesome potato salad!
I had almost given up hope of finding good BBQ in this town. Rudy's is ok, county line is ok. Powdrells was ok - Nothing was every memorable. I dorve up menaul & there is was! WHC. Memphis in May World Champions. For those of you who dont know what Memphis in May is - Its the Superbowl of BBQ, The World Series! The Masters! IT IS THE BEST OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD! I brought my kids with me & after the 1st bite my 11yr old looked at me straight in the face & Said : "Damn! Now thats good BBQ" I dove into my ribs. A beautiful Dry rub. I tried each of their 6 sauces - All magnificent. #3 was my favorite - I like a little spice in my "Q". We had the pulled pork sandwich which was also spectacular. We did the Brisket nachos which would've been worldclass if it wasnt for the cold canned jalapenos they put on them - GET FRESH JALAPENO's!! This place is great! Its fast, Its friendly! Its dripping with trophies( which they backed up!) Who am I to judge their BBQ so well - Im really nobody but I did spend a year of my life living in Memphis just to learn how to BBQ & my I-QUE is pretty damn hi, as are my expectations. Whole Hog Cafe is a world class BBQ joint in Albuquerque, NM!! My son couldn't have said it any better "DAMN! Now thats good BBQ"!! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RESTAURANTS!!! - I cant wait to go back!!

WOW hog!. There is definitely something that needs to be said when a restaurant (Chain or Not) offers SIX very different and very delicious BBQ sauces!
We got there near closing time and I was shocked to hear they were running out of meats! I guess that's what happens when you are that darn good! Now I must admit I am extremely picky when it comes to BBQ, I don't recommend a whole lot of places as the Sauce is what makes the meal and not a whole lot of local places can boast about their sauce, but the whole hog makes for a great meal.
Ate here for the first time today. I was slightly disappointed they did not have fries as a side item but the great BBQ made up for it. I will be going back.
Favorite BBQ place. Whole Hog Cafe has become my new favorite BBQ place in town. After eating there a couple of times, I much prefer it over Rudy's. I get the chicken plate with potato salad (totally agree with previous poster, it's very good) and baked beans and combined they're excellent. Husband usually gets the brisket which he always enjoys. I like experimenting with the six sauces that are always available. I find it quite reasonably priced and the atmosphere is casual with great service.
Mmmm....KC. I am a KC style bbq type of girl, and I really hate the Texas Pit that is so prevalent in Albuquerque. The meat at Whole Hog was delicious but the sauce made my day! I love being able to choose my sauce and the fact that they had a thick sweet sauce made me so happy! We had the brisket and the pulled chicken, both were very good. Can't wait to go back and try the pork.
Blackty. Good food, friendly dervice, affordable. Has a lot of
regular customers . that speaks well of the place
I admit that most of the meal was "okay" but that potato salad, OMG. Probably I should just go buy the potato salad. I agree about the service. Even though you just order at the counter, it's not that friendly or great.
But I love the potato salad.
This place is a wonderful gem here in ABQ and SF! This is a must try place if you ever in town! The service is outstanding from everyone working at the restaurant! The person who stood out the most to us was Araceli since she went above and beyond the call of duty. She made my father with dementia feel welcome and even spoke Spanish for him and open the door for him since he uses a walker! You can tell that the chefs cook with their heart to produce such a delicious meal! The place is clean and plenty of space is available! This is an excellent place for catering and taking meals to your coworkers!
Pulled pork a little dry. Beef brisket moist and tender. The sandwiches have a generous portion of meat. #5 sweet heavy molasses accents the sandwich the best. The person at the register was helpful in making the selection.
Got a hankering for some great BBQ? Then get yourself over to the Whole Hog Cafe. Family style dining in and take out. The best pulled pork in town!
I love their pulled pork but they offer brisket, chicken and sausage. Their sides are also impressive, my favorites are their baked beans and coleslaw.
One unique aspect of the Whole Hog Cafe is their variety of BBQ sauces. Their meat is served naked, you get to select the sauce you want. At each table, there are six different serving bottles of really excellent sauces. You will find your favorite.
They do sell beer, which also goes well with the BBQ. They usually have a few home style desserts. The chocolate sheet cake is exceptionally good.
Lastly, the dining area is fun and the service is very friendly. A great BBQ diner in the heights!
Love, Love their food! You have 6 sauces at the table to use. My fav is #5, a bit sweeter. They give you lots of meat for the price, homemade sides, it's all so delicious. I gotta say, it's also the ONLY potato salad I've ever liked! The only star off was because the music was a little loud in such an open plan, it was hard to hear each other. But so worth it, I can't wait to go back.

9/26/22 - great flavor, juicy, tender, fresh. The brisket is great it falls apart in your mouth very delicious. The sausage great flavor, overall every time that I go to get barbecue from there I always know that I'm going to get a great product from them
One of the best barbecue places their meats are juicy tender and you can tell that they put attention to detail when they are taking care of the meats. Coleslaw fresh tasty very different than others but taste good. Hey one of the best potato salads that I ever had
If you love meat, you gotta eat here. The combination meat tray with two to three sides is so delicious! They’re jalapeño Mac and Cheese was so good, the creamy coleslaw is yummy, their rolls top it off. They have so many choices for BBQ sauce, you’ll definitely find a favorite. You won’t be disappointed. My favorite was the ribs and Mac and cheese. 😳😮😀

OMG, the food is delicious, quite exquisite to the senses of the pallet, no joke really good and recommend.
Pretty good first experience. Went in for take-out and the lady who took our order was polite and answered all of our questions. Food was very good, wasn’t dry and I enjoyed the sauces that came with it. Will be coming back to this place again
Good BBQ. I had the pulled pork plate with potato salad and Cole slaw. Good portions. The meat was a little dry. They give you 6 bbq sauces to try!
We had the "whole hog platter" for $23.61 which comes with three types of meat three sides to dinner rolls. Pretty good deal for two people to share. We had food left over. The pulled pork was really good the brisket was really good, and the ribs were really good. Definitely recommend. I posted a picture of the chalkboard menu along with food pictures and the restaurant
Typical order at counter bbq place. But the brisket was pretty good and so were the ribs. Service could be a little better if they could communicate.
I think this place is better than rudys and county line. Definitely cheaper.
Love this spot. Place was clean and fresh. We ordered the brisket nachos and the whole hog platter (enough food for two people if you're very hungry, if not, it is enough for three) and a side of sausage. It was a lot of food and it was tasty! We had a lot leftover. The potato salad was VERY delicious because it was made with sour cream instead of mayo. Our favorite BBQ sauces were 3 and 5. Sweet, savory, and a bit spicy. On top of the food being good, the customer service was stellar. Kudos to Aracely for being so helpful, kind, and friendly. I'll definitely go back when I'm in Albuquerque again. **Also, there's a Pokémon gym if you or your kids play PoGo.
Pretty decent honestly. I got the platter this time because I was there with a friend and we split the cost. It was total $25 and comes with an almost half rack of ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Brisket was a bit on the dry side.
Speaking of sides: meh. The baked beans were good and made up for the almost bland slaw and basic potato salad had me almost questioning my lunch choices. The BBQ sauces were good and came in about six different flavors in bottles that you could liberally squirt onto your food at will.
