The grill is entertaining and the food is ok. The prices are high. The sushi is just really ok. It's not the best but not worse place to go to.

Very Pleased!. After leaving Osaka Teppan Grill in Rio Rancho earlier in the evening disappointed, my friend and I were still craving a great Teppanyaki place, which led us to Samurai. One reason we went here is that their weekday hours may be the latest in that they are open until 9:30, rather than 9. Even at 8:50 when we arrived, the dining area was bustling with people.

We were sat at a grill to the back left, allowing us to see all the other grills in action. We ordered the green chile tempura, but were upset to hear that our server had not tried it before. Perhaps they should let their servers taste their food, as I almost always ask for my servers suggestions before ordering. He did state though that the green chile tempura was ordered regularly, so we took that as a good sign. Upon receiving our appetizer, we were pleased, as the chile was not too hot yet not super mild. For avid green chile eaters, you may think it is too mild, but I would rather not burn my palette before my meal so it was just the right heat for me.

We then ordered our meals, chicken, scallops, and shrimp. While our chef put on a great experience, our miso soup and salad came out. The soup was delicious and had fresh mushrooms and scallions. The salad was also wonderful. Normally I am used to a dressing that has a heavy ginger flavor, but the dressing here seemed to a japanese spin on oil and vinegar, using sesame oil which gave it a warm earthy flavor.

The entrees were also fantastic. The chicken had just enough teriyaki sauce and the fried rice and vegetables were wonderful. My one complaint was the scallops in that I think they could use some sauce either when they are being cooked, or a variation of sauces to dip on the side. The scallops were cooked well, but still seemed to be lacking that last element.

Our grill chef was fantastic along with our server who was attentive and eager to please. Our drinks were always refilled and he was happy to help with any added requests. Overall, the experience was wonderful and I will absolutely be recommending Samurai to all my good friends.

Sushi isn't super authentic but some of the rolls were tasty. I must admit, I was taken back by the New Mexico roll, which is served with a tortilla instead of rice...clearly that would not have been found in Japan...but the sushi with the tempura shrimp is yummy

Good Teppan, Okay Sushi. The teppan grill food is equivalent to that served at Japanese Kitchen. It is good and the teppan chefs have fun with their clientele. The sushi is good, but I prefer a few other places in town slightly more.

The food was fairly average, worthy of 4 stars. The extra star is for the hunky waiter. Woof! Service was excellent, and it was nice that there were not many people, at least on the sushi bar side (more people were enjoying the grill). My friend ordered the sushi, and he liked it. I had the NY steak bento.

Great place to eat with the family has been one of the families favorite places to eat for over 10 years. It's a place we go on special occasions and enjoy the great food. Everything on there menu is excellent and their steak is to die for. Would definitely say it's a nice restaurant for a date night or to bring business guests.

Seriously some of the most unique, best tasting sushi I’ve ever had. The only reason I wouldn’t rate 5 stars is they are pricey, even for sushi. Definitely worth visiting at least once!

While visiting from out of town I stopped in for some sushi, couldn't beat the craving. Their seared tuna was delicious and hit the spot. I'd even go so far as to say as it's better than my hometown fave. GREAT service, GREAT food. Would strongly recommend to anyone in the mood for some good quality sushi.

We’ve been to SAMURAI GRILL & SUSHI BAR several times before, and the famous New York & Los Angeles sushi chef Mr. Nori was there - as we hoped. I ordered Seaweed Salad, Shrimp Sushi, Bonito Sushi, and an Eel Cucumber Roll, along with a Sapporo Beer. My wife ordered a Shrimp Tempura Appetizer, then a Wakame Salad (seaweed and cucumbers marinated in rice wine vinegar). First, we were served with their traditional Miso Soup, which was absolutely delicious! We sat at the counter, so we saw the chefs as they prepared our food, and when they presented our plates, everything was mouth-watering fantastic, as well as organized artistically! Master Chef Mr. Nori and his enthusiastic & dedicated Sous Chef Tai Lam were constantly attentive to our needs – plus we shared wonderful conversations about life and culture in Japan and in the United States. Restaurant ambience is authentic Japanese, and prices are reasonable. Beautiful dining experience! Highly recommended. On Super Bowl Sunday, 4 of us enjoyed a great Teppan dinner experience at SAMURAI GRILL & SUSHI BAR. I ordered the Filet Mignon with noodles, my wife ordered sushi (911 Roll and Hungry Roll), another ordered the Sukiyaki Steak with noodles, and finally the New York Steak with fried rice. Everything was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Our teppan chef Victor obviously was an expert and personable chef, and even taking time while cooking to answer questions and explain how he was seasoning our food. It was a delightful and delicious experience! Definitely highly recommended.

The service & food were good but you do have to wait a little for one of the chef to come and cook your food. It's a bit on the pricey side but overall good experience!

Absolutely delicious. I had the fried pork with curry, pictured, and it was fantastic. We also had a couple sushi rolls, and an appetizer of fried calimari. Great food at a good price. Their fries dishes go excellent with blue moon, or similar wheat beers.
