This place turned out to be the best dining experience in a REALLY long time. Frankie was our server and boy wasn’t he great!!!! We enjoyed the jazz singing, great ambiance, delicious food and wine. I will definitely be coming back to this place. John a all around great experience.
We had the greatest Mother’s Day brunch today. The service was the best I’ve had. Our server’s name was Lena, and although they were extremely busy, she treated us with a friendly smile and perfect service. We were all extremely happy with the food but now we need to run a few miles to make up for the cake!
Laporta’s is a very classy place and a nice choice for a special brunch.
Love this place! I had the Chicken Envoltine, it was amazing. The Jazz, soothing and relaxing. Ambiance was great as well and we sat by a window where you were treated to a beautiful view of Old Town. I definitely recommend this place.
Service - Young lady that took us to our table was friendly and helpful. A delight. Waiter (Frank) was in the spot, cordial, and very knowledgeable about the menu selections.
Music - best jazz trio I have heard in years. We arrived at 7 pm and would not leave until closing time at 11 pm because we wanted to hear the music. Mr Kilpatrick and Mr Ferris (guitarist and bassist) were a joy to chat with.
I had the great pleasure of dining at Laporta's for the first time yesterday evening. The food was great! The jazz music was great! The hospitality was great! I would definitely dine here again when I am visiting the city.
Easy free parking, great food, friendly wait staff, and great jazz trio.
Had an amazing meal last night. Mel is an excellent server and we really appreciated the manager’s willingness to offer to cook my grandmother a bit of a modified special. Thank you all! We loooooved our dishes.

Always enjoyable atmosphere, fantastic food and a woderfully talented jazz band to acompany the meal. Recommend it to anyone looking for a nice evening out in Alexandria VA. Be sure yo check out their Happy Hour 3 to 7 weekdays.
The owner came and met us at our table. He gave us a warm welcome and a rundown of the history of the place as well as a summary of the menu. Great food, great ambiance, stellar service. Highly recommend!
The food was exquisite. Mussels served with bread for dipping up broth. Mushrooms, olives and pasta with garlic butter. Homemade rhubarb cobbler. ..... The jazz trio had us spellbound. Perfect acoustics. Comfortable chairs. One of the best evenings we've had, and we're going back SOON!
Beautiful place. Took my girlfriend, had flowers delivered by the staff jyst before desert, , perfect timing. Paid for a meal over the phone for my daughter when she got narried. Staff worked it perfectly. Food was excellent, service top notch, music was well just perfect! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Great food, courteous staff and good music = great combination!
This restaurant is AMAZING! The previous reviews must have been when the restaurant was under different management, because it is nothing like that! The food is absolutely exquisite. It's not super complicated and well worth the money. The service is wonderful as well, very polite and attentive staff. I'm a jazz lover and so having the live music playing my favorite songs such as "Misty" and "Georgia On My Mind" was the icing on the cake. Definitely make a trip (or two) to this restaurant!
Christmas Eve Amazing!. The ambience was delightful with an amazing jazz trio providing holiday music throughout dinner. The service was the epitome of impeccable and the food, ahhh the food, was extraordinary. The staff went out of there way to accomodate us and seat us early. Nothing could have been better about the evening. It was charming, friendly, comfortable, delectable and a perfect way to spend Christmas Eve. Laporta's is on the top of my dining list!
Quaint and yummy. Located near the King Street Hotels and shopping - this was a quick little walk and well worth the humidity, rain, and heat. I had the Calamari - without the chili spiced sauce that comes with it (ask for marinara) and some wine on my first night. I loved it so much I grabbed another quick bite on another rainy day 2 days later... this time ordering the calamari, the side of asparagus with parmesean, and a side order of the southern mac n cheese. OMG! That mac n cheese was so creamy and cheesy with a white multiple cheese sauce and a hint of spice from crushed red peppers... I could have eaten another bowl, but for dinner the appetizer and two sides was just perfect. Now let me tell you about the asparagus. 4 HUGEST asparagus I have ever seen cooked to perfection and drizzled with a flavored oil of some sort and parmesean... and the presentation - well I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture but it was very nice looking and would have made a great pic for this web site. But I will definitely go back and order this again and post the pics later. Great job to a little pit stop in my busy work week in D.C. Rating 9 stars - minus a star for the sauce that came with the calamari and the white sangria was not that good. Too much apple in it that sat too long soaking.
