The Reata has a subtly elegant western vibe that I absolutely love. Tables are pretty close together which was great because we were able to visit with the other dinner guests! We chatted with some awesome folks and enjoyed the tenderloin tamales and fantastic chicken fried steaks.
We returned the following week for lunch with our neighbors and had chicken fried chicken, the house salad, and sour cream enchiladas. Food was exceptional and the service was on point. Be sure to check out all the historic photos!

It’s been a while since I’ve written a review, but this place warranted one! Such a great menu selection - I think I would eat every single item. Walking in, the restaurant smelled pleasant, clean, and was very homey. We walked to the back patio and got to pass thru an awesome sun room with a tree growing thru the ceiling. I imagine it would be cool to dine in there as well, but we chose to sit outside. Out back, there was a great mix of plants, art, and seating that I could chill at for hours.
Now for the food… WOW! We started with the crab stuffed bacon wrapped jalapeños served over grits and the tenderloin tamales topped with pecan mash. Jalapeños were cooked perfectly as to not mush but crunch when biting. Grits were perfect. The tamales were excellent, no complaints there. For dinner, I got the carne asada topped with cheese enchiladas served with rice and beans. The rice was cooked perfectly with a subtle hint of lime and cilantro, the beans were great, and the enchiladas had just enough crust on the outside from the fried cheese. The steak was very tasty, just ever so slightly over cooked from the medium rare I requested.
I would 10/10 return!

Great place for lunch. Got busy fast after 1130am open. Really fast. We got seated out back on patio for two without an rsvp ahead. Got served within 15 mins of ordering up. The CFS and CFC entrees both very good but the CFC we agreed was better. Side options are also well done and tasty. Nice patio space to take in a meal with.

I eat the citrus chicken and it was pretty good. My son ordered the steak from the children menu and he liked. My daughter ordered the mac and chesse and she said it was ok. My wife ordered the three chesse enchiladas and she could not eat them because it was too spice. The restaurant ambient is amazing and service is good too. I would gave 4.5 because they should mention that the enchilladas are spicy, that is why I am giving 4 stars.

Oh My! Reata is the best restaurant in Alpine. Every dish comes arranged for presentation to each guest as if they were family. Our waiter recommended the Tenderloin tamales for an appetizer, they are delicious. My in-laws make tamales every year for the holidays, so when I saw these are GREAT, I know of what I eat. The Penne Pasta with Shrimp was delicious, pasta was lightly bathed in a white wine sauce and the shrimp were grilled with a hint of Cajun flavor. The CF burger was cooked to order and came with all the trimmings to include fries. The avocado was a great addition that brought the ensemble together for each moth watering bite. I wish we jad room for dessert, because they sound delicious. Enjoy anything on the menu, it's all AMAZING.

Great food, service, atmosphere. I had the ancho chili enchiladas 😋 So yummy. I would go back and eat this again. My entire party loved their food. Salmon was tender and moist, great shrimp pasta dish, and grilled chicken sandwich. Nice variety! When visiting, make reservations, they get really busy, and check hours, sleepy early Town. They closed at 8:30 or 9pm.

One of the best restaurants in Alpine. I got the three cheese enchiladas and my partner got the special which was a kale salad with chicken and honey mustard. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dishes. We also got the creme brûlée as a dessert. The top was a little more burnt than I would have preferred but still good. Taylor was a delight and also offered excellent recommendations of things to do around town. Would definitely go back if I ever return to Alpine!

Very nice ambiance. Our server was doing double duty as bartender and server in the room we were in. She never skipped a beat and did a fantastic job. Husband had the chicken fried steak… no big deal and a little tough. I had the citrus crusted chicken with rosemary honey mustard sauce. I really enjoyed the flavors. The best thing was the apple crisp for dessert.

My girlfriend and I were visiting the area and was told that this was the place to go. To be fair the service itself wasn't bad but the food was just horrible. You would think that a place that charges 35 dollars for a steak would cook the best steak you have ever tasted or at least something close to it. The steaks had a vinegar after taste that I couldn't shake. Neither one of us could finish our meal. Also, she ordered a bloody marry that for the life of me I can't figure out what they were trying to do. It had no tomatoe juice but rather like v8 splash or something. They put limes and lemons in it and salted the glass like a margarita but all we could both taste was Tabasco. It was absolutely rancid! For a meal that cost more than 100 dollars we would have been better off going to McDonald's I will not go back, nor would I ever recommend this place. I don't normally write reviews, but because we spent so much and had high expectations I felt like future tourist should be aware.

Very good food and service. We made reservations for 8:30 pm because we were arriving from Dallas. They called to confirm that morning. We arrived at 7:30 pm and our table was ready for us despite a crowd waiting for tables. We started with the bacon wrapped jalapeños served over jalapeño cheddar grits. They were delicious and the grits had a bit of a kick. We both had a blue margarita. Yum!! We were served pecan biscuits and corn muffins. Both were delicious. Then I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and bacon wrapped asparagus and my husband had the same with chicken fried chicken. The decor is so fun with an old western cowboy theme. Overall a wonderful dining experience.

Lorrie is absolutely the best waitress hands down. You have to request her! Her attention to detail is spot on. The food is fabulous. They have a cookbook also which shares the history and their mouth watering recipes.

We come once a week and love it! Erica is our favorite server/ waitress so we make sure we are in her section every time! She serves the best martinis in town! The staff is fun and very knowledgable about the menu. Always a great place to eat any day of the week!
