Altoona really has a gem in Knickerbocker Tavern. This place is a nice hipster joint that accommodates for table or bar seating. They have an extensive whiskey selection as seen in the bar display and also have a variety of cocktails and beer selections with an Untapped check-in. Our bartender was super knowledgeable on their different liquor and you could tell he loved working there. He brought the energy and enthusiasm. The food was fantastic as well. I ordered the lamb meatball pasta and it was loaded with flavor and a nice kick to it. The fried brussel sprouts were a winner too. All of the food is made with unique ingredients and you can’t go wrong with anything here. Can’t wait to come back.

Don’t let this place deceive you from the outside, it is awesome! Beer selection is insanely good, with some rare / hard to find bottle pours. Food was delicious. Staff was friendly, kind and down right delightful. And the place, well it had so much charm, character and warmth… it a star on my map when I’m passing through Altoona again!

This is my second home. Cocktails/liquor selection: unmatched. Rotating craft beer menu verified on untappd: perfection. Food: smaller menu but everything is 🔥. Prolly the most hospitable place in the area. Everyone greets you and thanks you for coming on your way out. Your first time there can be a bit intimidating. You kinda walk in to this small, dark dive bar sorta thing and no idea where to sit. But once you learn you can seat yourself (and walk straight thru to the back to the left) it becomes a lot easier lol. Someone will always be there to serve you within minutes. The Kourtyard is super cozy during the warmer months and I'm excited for them to open it back up. The entire atmosphere is just awesome. It's very very rare to have a lackluster experience here. This is prolly the best place to go within 75 miles. Seriously, people from out of state know about it and have talked about it when we're striking up conversations on vacation. They need merch. I would buy all of it. I cannot express enough how much this place means to me. 💙

Amazing food and drinks,, with ample seating and great service. In good weather,, the outdoor patio is the best place to eat.. The grilled Ceasar salad, garlic tomato bisque is my absolute favorite! Can't wait to go back!

What a great place to have a good beer after a long day of work. They served me dinner past 11pm on a weekday, the music selection was perfect, and the service was amazing. Coolest place in town.

Quite small but very interesting in its layout. The selection of alcohol was not was I was expecting at all and forced me to be adventurous. So adventurous I had four different drinks that night. The staff is so nice and allow you to sample any of the drinks they have. The food was amazing as well. I know this is a popular place to come to on nights out but its no where to party like crazy. Its a casual arrangement. Prepare to open your wallet a little wider than normal as well. As first dates go, this is the great option.

Very impressive beer, spirits, & cocktail menus, served in the correct glassware! Ate dinner at the bar. Zach, the bartender, was personable and knowledgeable. Very small establishment, but feels right at home. The pickled veggies had a pleasant "kick", the fries were real-deal hand-cut fries, and the burger was one of the best I have had in quite a while! I'll happily eat here again when I'm back in town!

Fantastic dinner. Extensive beer list with impressive Belgian, saison, IPA, and barleywine list. Great cocktails too. Pierogi, smash burger, and wings were very good. A real gem.
