What they say about Duff’s famous buffalo wings is all worth and big time! On a chilly monday night me and my roommates got a steller deal for 20 Pieces of Duffs Wings in hot sauce (Courtesy Grubhub) The sauce was oh so amazing with a dash of sriracha along with the famous buffalo wing sauce. Totally recommended!
Duff's is a famous wing joint outside of Buffalo that also claims to have served up the first chicken wings. In 1946, Louise Duffney opened a corner Gin Mill at Sheridan Drive and Millersport Highway in Amherst, New York, just north of Buffalo. . It was in 1969 that the local tavern known simply as Duff’s served up their first batch of chicken wings. Selling nearly 20 pounds of wings a week, Duff’s began to create a name for itself and a reputation for having the best wings in Buffalo. It was around 1985 that it was established that Duff’s wings were indeed famous, and the name became official.
1. Order the wings with regular hot sauce.
2. Eat your wing with bone-in. YouTube it.
3. Screw the celery and carrots. If you want to eat veggies go to the produce aisle in Wegman's.
Waiters here can be a little oblivious to your presence. But the food quality never changes and that's a commendable thing. If you are a Buffalonioan you don't need a review to go to this place.
Extremely good wings! I love their blue cheese sauce and usually I would buy a jar and put it on everything! Definitely top 3 wings shop in Buffalo and probably in the world as no place does wings like the 716!

Ordered 5 hot chicken wings and 5 medium with onion rings and french fries for takeaway. To our surprise both boxes containing the wings were medium with BBQ sauce and not one of them was hot. The onion rings were too oily and french fries tasted as usual. Nothing too much but I felt the wings were too much salty so couldnot eat more than two.
Thought it will be the best buffalo wings but no had better ones before was a little disappointed. Aorry no going back.
Wings are amazing. Best we have had. However, I would stay far far away from anything else on the menu. The beef burger was awful, i think meat went bad, but they still served it to us.
Being born and raised in Buffalo I have some street cred. Having travelled to countries around the world, I'd like to think I have even more.
Duffs is the best Buffalo style chicken wing you'll ever eat in your life.
Sure, they try to serve Buffalo style chicken wings all over the world. Nothing will ever compare to this particular location of Duff's. They serve them crispy, saucy (especially when you order hot) - and it it truly the tastiest, most satisfying chicken wing you'll ever eat.
Duff's isn't just a restaurant, it's a destination. If you're from Toronto - drive the hour and a half to get here. If you're from Pittsburgh, just hop in the car - Rochester - make the drive.
You haven't had a Buffalo style anything until you've eaten here.
Some of the best wings in Buffalo, and without a doubt the best blue cheese and celery. Highly reccommend for a wing fix. Only qualm is don't try and go here when it's busy, because it's absolutely shoulder to shoulder waiting to be seated. They should look into renovating the bar area and expanding the waiting area.
The wings. Are. So. Good. Sauce is great, legit heat levels. Even people that don't love wings will enjoy Duff's wings. Beef on weck to die for. Italian sausage sandwich is amazing as well. Good service. A must go! We go every couple of weeks (at least)!
When in Rome...checked out ratings for Buffalo Wings spots and
Duffs was highly recommended. Wings were great, restaurant very busy for Tuesday, friendly staff, clean, all one could ask for.
Even now, over a week after eating there, I’m still thinking about how good those wings were. Is there a way that Duff’s could possibly mail some more wings to my apartment in southern Maryland?
Creamy, tangy, and spicy. First time in Buffalo? Well here is a little tidbit to prepare for judging a Buffalo wing. The wing is juicy yet slightly crisp and the breading is thin yet satisfying. The sauce should not be compared to that of barbeque or Mango Habanero or anything along the lines of sweet, tangy and sour. Buffalo sauce is an independent category of savory tang with varying degrees of heat.
Our group ordered a batch of medium and medium hot wings and they did not disappoint. The wings come out hot and juicy and the creamy sauce packs a tangy and spicy punch that was finger lickin’ good. The only difference we found between the two heat levels was that the heat from the medium hot lingered slightly longer than the medium. There was a twenty-minute wait and we missed the hostess calling our name which the hostess apologized for, seated us as the very next party, and served drinks on the house. Décor is a bit sparse but great service and great flavorful wings!
The best wings by far and that sauce!
Hands down the best wings in the world. Been eating Duff's wings since I was a toddler, been all over the country and nothing comes close.
Decent Wings. Everyone has always told me that this Duff's location is the best of the best. So I figured I'd give it a try. My fiancee and I got the #1 (20 wings, large french fries, and small pitcher of soda) for $25. It was enough food for the two of us. We had our wings with "Medium Light" sauce, which was still hot enough for me. All of the food arrived hot and tasted fine. I didn't find the wings to be "the biggest" or to "have the most sauce". They were just... chicken wings.
The ambiance of the place is pretty lackluster. Crowded tables, which led to me being unable to hear what my fiance was saying from across the table. The service was okay, but relatively unfriendly. No smiles or anything.
Duff's Wings are big and juicy. We liked Duff's wings. They are large and very juicy. These are definitely the "wet" wings with a lot of good vinegary sauce. They are not kidding when they tell you that their "medium" is everyone else's "hot!" So medium or medium hot, worked well for us even though we are usually fire eaters! We get "cryptonite" at Hooters, yes--I admit it publicly that I have had the wings at Hooters! But medium hot at Duff's is plenty hot for me!
This. Is. Buffalo. Wings.. Sure, everyone knows the story of how wings were invented at the Anchor Bar. However, they were perfected at Duff's. Get 10, 20, 50... whatever. Blue cheese, celery, maybe some shoestring fries. Pay attention to the sauce scale and forget all the imitators.
Oh, by the way... avoid the Duff's microbrew. Nasty beer.
Anybody who is hating on this place needs to get thier taste buds checked. Amazingly tasty and huge wings. The dining area isn't the greatest, but really who cares with wings like these.
I always have to stop here whenever I am in Buffalo. The wings are always great and the service is always fast.
Great. All I can say is: know what you're getting yourself into!
The restaurant experience is minimal, the tables are situated really close to each other and it's pretty lood. But service is fast, and prices are acceptable (more so than Anchor Bar at least). Sure, you can get cheaper wings at your local pizza joint, but will they be as good as Duff's? Hell no! I ordered them medium, and they claim "medium = hot", well, to me they were definitely hot! BUT not too hot, they were perfect. Wings are supposed to be hot. If I had the cohones I'd try some of their hotter choices, but I don't know if my body would enjoy that.
For 2 people, their #1 package seems to be very reasonable. You get a pitcher of soda, 20 wings and a HUGE basket of McDonald's-esque fries for 20 bucks.
I'll be back for sure.
Duff's is Art!. Believe me Buffalo, you are spoiled. I am jealous that you have the best wings on the planet. Denver seems to be void of what you guys have there. I am in search of anything that compares to Duff's close to home, but I think it's a losing battle.
The wings there blew my mind, they were saucy, crispy and meaty. The sauce was so good. The wings were served with a huge side of fries and celery. They gave us plenty of ranch for dippin. The value was incredible!
We sat in a booth where someone decorated a T-shirt that Duff's framed and hung up, It said "Duff's is Art". The shirt said it all and left me with it stuck in my head.
I can only hope that I get back to Buffalo soon for some wings, but in the meantime, I will have to try to find wings around here that might come close.
Home Sick. Boy do I miss Buffalo! Medium and BBQ all day, little crispy, side of fries and a pitcher.
Duff's>everybody else. The best wings come from cute little young chickens, newly out of the egg. These scrumptious, albeit smaller morsels of deep-fried aviarian excellence taste way better than the gross, old, slimy gristle laden huge wings you get from certain Bars on North street or corner store "delis". duffs wings are hotter, crispier, and even smell better.
Really good.. I am becoming less enthusiastic about hot food as I get older (43). I ordered Medium Hot thinking I would have my gut wrenched, but not at all. They were just right. I have not had Duffs before, though, so the next step up in hotness might be too much, I don't know. I live near La Nova and have had their dry-type wings a lot and I like them. Duff's are soaked in sauce, but I like it and it is different from any I have had for years. There's a lot of butter in that sauce or something like butter, but whatever it is it's good.
That being said, they're just wings. You can have the best wings on earth, and an average filet mignon will blow them away, so don't expect heaven to open up.
Love the wings!. One of the best wings ever! Except for the wait, everything is nice!
I love it there. The wing are sooo good!!!! The only thing is that only duff wings are too greasy
Good, but overhyped. I ate at Duff's for the first time a couple of nights ago. My dad grew up in Buffalo, and I have had plenty of wings from different places in my time and have a good idea what good wings are. It was packed the night we went, and we wound up waiting for an hour. It is by no means a fancy atmosphere, original from when it was built (1940s), but that is a part of the Duff's atmosphere. The staff was friendly and service was a bit slow (understandable, because it was a busy night). We got two orders of wings- one mild, and one medium. The mild wings had very little sauce on them and should be avoided (as with a lot of places in Buffalo). The medium wings, on the other hand, had plenty of sauce on them and were very good. However, they did not really stand out in my mind. The fries were okay; they were shoestring fries, and they gave very generous portions. Overall, I would recommend that you give this place a try, but I don't know if it lives up the hype.
The Best Wings in Buffalo. Saucy not Dry. Perfect.

It was good if you like wet wings. I don't think Buffalo has the monopoly anymore on good wings... I grew up on Buffalo wings (in Florida) at joints that were inspired by Duff's and Anchor Bar. I used to like the traditional wet wing, but I've grown to appreciate grilled wings more. That said, I did like Duff's. Medium is hot (and slightly wet). They were still crispy enough. The portions on the fries are HUGE! A large could feed like 6 people.
Without a doubt the best wings In town regardless of the temp you order. I recommend medium so you get great mix of sauce and f. And possibly the best fries too. My mouth is watering as I write this.
Great Wings. I work near by and have never had a bad meal here. Hot wings, cold beer good food.
Diff's wins. Their better than the other guy if you know what i mean
I'd never cared for wings until I went to Duff's. They're quite delectable. Their fries are pretty good too. It gets really busy during lunch and dinner, but it's so worth the wait. Good service, good location, good times. It's definitely a staple for UB students.
Been a while. Hadn't been there in a long time. I need to go there more often. It was great. The wings are always good, but the best is the Fries with Gravy. why put cold ketchup on your fries when potatoes should be served with hot gravy. Suprised more places dont do this. Makes boring fries sooo good.
Another Buffalo area landmark. Best wings anywhere. Very busy location, popular with locals. Not fancy, often crowded, but we think the "atmosphere" is part of its charm.
Buffalo's best wings...Hands down!. Can't get enough Duffs!! Just remember...Medium is HOT!
REAL Buffalo Wings.. My girlfriend and I contemplated between here and Anchor Bar. Based on some advice we chose Duff's instead and we couldn't be happier we did. We ordered all the Buffalo staples. Medium Wings, a Roast Beef on Weck and Fries with Gravy. Everything was tasty and the medium wings were a bit spicier than I expected but still great. Maybe next trip to Buffalo we will go to Anchor Bar to compare, or just go back to Duff's for awesome Buffalo Wings!!
Primo Wings. Nothing fancy, just the best wings in the greater Buffalo metro area. Beer chasers needed.
This is the best place for wings that I know of. Beats anchorbar.
The Locals' Choice. I travel to Buffalo about once a year for work. Every time I'm there I ask 2 or 3 locals where they go to get wings and they consistently answer "Duffs." They're on to something because I've never been disappointed. But beware: Those who don't like their hot wings hot may not be pleased. Even "Mild" comes out fairly hot! But if that's your thing, this place is one of the best places to get hot buffalo wings.
Good wings!. Duffs' wings are a little smaller than other wing specialists in the area. However, don't let that scare you off, as they pack a TON of flavor into their sauce. A definite must for any wing enthusiast.
Note: Do NOT be afraid to order "mild" wings b/c the HOT wings are VERY spicy! The "suicide" wings are almost pure heat. All of Duffs' sauces run a little hotter, in my opinion.
Good wings, expect to wait. I've gone twice, at "off times" both times (3pm on a weekday) and ended up waiting 10 minutes one time, and 30 another. Once I was seated, the wait staff was friendly and prompt. My first visit I tried the cheddar cheese poppers, and was underwhelmed. Then my wings order was messed up - i ordered "medium" and they arrived without any sauce at all. The fries were alright, but forgettable. My second trip I skipped the appetizer completely and had the chili as my side. The chili was quite good, especially for a place that obviously doesn't specialize in soups. The wings had sauce this time, and were quite good (though not mind-blowing). All in all, if you "need" wings and have some time to spend standing around, I would recommend Duff's.
My fave place for wings. The only place I've found where the hot wings are HOT!! and still maintain a lot of flavor... I honestly think the hot wings have a more robust flavor than the medium ones. Great pricing - the wings, fries and beer deal they have is a must for me.
Great Wings. Great tasting wings. I really liked the Medium Hot. Hot were good but wore me down. Beware of the death sauce. Very casual dinning.
In the battle of the Buffalo Wings Duff’s Famous Wings totally blows Anchor Bar away! At least that’s my opinion, but you know what they say about a-holes and opinions. Also, my a-hole had nothing to do with my taste buds during this trip to upstate NY. I had a chance to try them both while in town for a few days recently. Both spots could not be anymore different. Much has been said regarding the Buffalo Wing supremacy when it comes to these two iconic bastions of wing debauchery. My vote goes to Duff’s! Anchor bar is where you go as a tourist to say you ate wings at the place that invented them. It’s an old bar with great memorabilia and old motorcycles hanging on the walls. The dining area is straight out of some old Catskills looking joint and looks it’s age. Photo credit – Duff’s Famous Wings Duff’s is where the locals and people in the know go to chow down on better tasting meatier wings where they have improved on the original recipe. The dining area is brighter and cleaner loo
Although Duff's Sheridan Patio is not home of the very 1st Buffalo wings ever, my sister said they were the best in town. She lives there, so I took her advice and went there instead of the other restaurant that supposedly invented buffalo wings. Well, she was right they were fantastic.
Duff's brought Buffalo one of the finest versions of wings back in 1969 and has continued to do so ever since. They are hot, there doesn't appear to be a mild, but even so, despite the heat, the flavor is full on from first taste to finish. To top it all off, they are undeniably addictive.
it’s still one of my favorite places for wings, and I still enjoyed this visit. Decent beer, good wings, and good company made for a good evening overall.
I could pretend that I didn't care that Buffalo (and our world famous Chicken Wings ) were going to be prominently focused on Travel Channel's new Food Wars show, but that would be a lie. Honestly, how much more attention can Buffalo get for their chicken
You wouldn't guess from the exterior of this Sheridan Drive, Amherst restaurant that it is and has for years been Buffalo's very best place to get authentic chicken wings. Walking inside won't change that impression: Duff's looks like a greasy sports bar
First time at Duff’s for me. As soon as you walk in you can smell the spicy sauce. Spicy is a strong overall theme. Since spicy is not really my strong side, we chose barbecue sauce. The staff was friendly, service was great. Wet wipes for your hands would be an excellent addition.
Excited to try another Buffalo staple. Very much enjoyed the wings and the sauce. Chicken was a tad dry but overall very good.
Wings were perfect! Crispy and flavorful, not too much sauce. Medium was spicy, but not too bad. Only wish they stayed open a little later in the evening, the kitchen closed too early
Really really good wings. But so much more as well. My Philly steak was awesome. The beef on wick very good.
