I've been here for work lunches many times but never for dinner. Which is strange because the lunches are so good. I usually go with their filet but occasionally I'll branch out to another dish or special and I've never been disappointed. The food is always top notch and the service is also top notch. Given how service in Alaska is usually terrible, the service here is refreshing. A bit pricey for lunch, but with how good the food is you won't be disappointed.
This was the best food I've had in Anchorage in three years. It doesn't look like much when you drive up, but it's freaking amazing. Everyone on staff is helpful, gives recommendations, and treats you like you're there for fine dining. From the recommendations, we had the calamari (not deep fried and chewy but crispy little steaks), seafood crepes, and duck a'la orange (not greasy as I always hear duck can be). My favorite dessert in the world is tiramisu, so it was a given, but the kahlua made this my new favorite tiramisu ever. DH had bread pudding- his all time favorite dessert and he told the waiter it rivals his #1. This was a fantastic date night- beat all other restaurants for us, hands down.
Small and friendly. Never been to Italy but im guessing this resturant would fit right in. Good food, wine and a fun staff.
Great quiet place to eat good food. Long time favorite. Service is great. Food varies from above average to great. Good wines. I'm a loyal customer.
Best bet for good Italian food and service. This is one of my favorite places in Anchorage. Everything is fresh and made with care, and the house-made pasta is the best you'll find in Anchorage. Service here is attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. *Update: the last time I went here a few months ago the food was still good, but my pasta sauce was a little bland... That said, CB is still the best Italian I have found in ANC
Good Food, but Overall Unimpressed. I finally got around to going to Campobello Bistro the other night. It was 6 PM on a Friday, and was surprisingly dead. I was seated right away. The waiter, who was admittedly new, seemed somewhat clueless. The second waiter (unsure if he was just another waiter double checking or a bus boy or whatever) was very good though.
The menu, and the wine list, seemed to be somewhat sparse. While there were several things that sounded good, very few jumped out at me. There did not seem to be a lot of variety either: several similar pasta dishes, similar halibut; similar salmon; uninspired beef, chicken, and veal. Wine list was brief, but the prices were very reasonable.
For an appetizer, I had the mussels breton. Good, large mussels, but the sauce almost overpowered them. For an entrée, I had the halibut rossini. Again, good. But it seemed a little on the salty side. The portion size was also larger than I expected, and the flavor of everything was very nice. For dessert, the bread pudding--nothing special.
Overall, I enjoyed my meal, and while others points may be lacking the quality and taste of the food (most important, right?) carried the day. However, I didn't see anything that would definitely draw me back. Would I go back? Certainly, but I am not going to make this a regular or "special event" restaurant. Just something else to consider.
Another great night at Campobello. My wife and I weren't happy with where the host had seated us but before having to ask to be seated elsewhere Dino came up and suggested we move to a better table. It was perfect. Great food and wine and as always excellent service.
One of my very favorites.... I love every time I have eaten here and Dino is such a wonderful part of it. He is a great server and remembers me by name each and every time I have come. I tend to order the same thing each time - either the chicken or seafood crepes with a caesar salad and the lemon zest ice cream for dessert. I dream about that dessert! Wonderful restaurant - I would recommend it to anyone.
I can't tell you about this bistro, because it is my little secret. If it weren't such a secret, I would tell you that the calming and clean atmosphere here draws you in, and the tasty, well prepared food brings you back. While the menu isn't very creative, they do what they do well. I wish I could tell you this, but I can't, because it's my secret.
This place is very good. Halibut was excellent, cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had the veal and she said it was very good as well. Waiter was very nice. Definitely will be returning!!
Great food, great service. Don't let the fact that Campobello is in a midtown strip mall put you off. This is my go to restaurants in ANC for business lunches and special dinners out. The food is excellent and the service is always wonderful. My favorite dish is the chicken marsala -- the sauce is divine!
We tried this for dinner yesterday and it was great. You can tell this restaurant is a labor of love for the people who own and operate it because everything we ate was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for delicious Italian food with great service.
Would use them more if they took American express. Love the food
Distinctly Local. The staff treats you like a guest in there home. This place feels more like home cooked food than a restaurant. Excellent lunch spot considering it's great food, affordable, and in mid town with ample parking.
After so long, we finally tried it!. My boyfriend and I had been eyeing Campobello for many months before we actually ended up eating here. They have sort of strange hours, we forgot about it, or we just didn't feel like having Italian. I'm happy the planets aligned and we finally tried it out.
Located in a mini-mall, on the inside, Campobello feels cozy and homey. Not too tacky or kitschy, just mildly pleasant and almost forgettable. Also, the bathrooms are extremely clean, which is an important detail for me.
We went on a Wednesday night to celebrate the end of UAA's semester with a friend and we were seated immediately. The server was an older gentleman who was jovial and very pleased to have us there. From his demeanor, I think he may own the restaurant. His style of taking the order was conversational, not just 'What would you like? What do you want to drink?" He made you feel involved, and suggested things that we may like.
I ordered the spicy Italian Sausage, peppers, and polenta; it was perfectly done and since they give you a hearty serving of bread and oil, I had enough for lunch the next day too. The polenta was particularly good, the consistency was firm but not too much, and the flavor was heavy on the garlic, but not overdone. My boyfriend tried the Pasta Putanesca, which he remarked had obviously fresh pasta.
Though the price was relatively high, about $18-27 for entrees, I would certainly come back if it was a special occasion. For two entrees and 1 beer our bill was over $60. I am not complaining, it was worth the cost, but I don't think many people could afford to become a 'regular'.
Italiano perfecto. Took my husband here for his birthday since there seems to be a shortage of nice italian places in anchorage. we both enjoyed our dishes and the service - definitely recommend.
Best potatoes!. I ordered the Duck a l'orange (which was some of the best duck I've ever had) and it came with the most delicious potatoes. I'd definitely go back there just FOR the potatoes. They were layered, like a potato cake. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it was phenomenal.
This is the finest Italian cuisine in Alaska. I am particularly fond of the tender calamari. I have been enjoying this resteraunt for many years. Always fine food, wine and wonderful service. The best of the best!
Nice flavors. We hadn't been in some time. Still attentive service, simple choices, entrees with salad/soup for lunch $14 .50. Busy too. Pleasant decor. Give it a try.
Very Good. Have never been disappointed. The food is very good, service is fast, atmosphere is clean/comfortable, and menu selections are good. They are family friendly too.
Every now and then the servers can get snippy (but it's all in good fun, doesn't bother me much).
One of my favorite places!
Highly recommended. This place doesn't look like much from the parking lot, but venture in and enjoy an outstanding meal. Classic Italian dishes made with some of the freshest seafood and pastas you will find anywhere! Friendly and attentive staff and a very relaxed atmoshere.
Great wild mushroom ravioli.
Wonderful Surprise. In the great american frontier, Ancorage, is this tiny strip mall Gem. I was competely surprised by this place, atmosphere, decor, and food were all A+. If you arein a hurry, check out the local McD's down the street, otherwise enjoy a nice night out on the town.
Delicious! 4 of us Had a great meal. Thier seafood pastas are great. The sauces are heavy, so don't come thinking you'll eat light. Service is good too.
I absolutely love this restaurant! The service and staff are second to none, and the food in my opinion is the best in Anchorage. Everyhing on the menu is amazing and perfectly presented. My favorite restaurant by far. And you're nuts if you don't have the bread pudding for dessert. Best in anchorage!
Great food and customer service. You won't leave hungry.
Best potatoes I've ever had.. Small little place, beautiful and classy. I ordered the duck a l'orange and the sauce was so delicious, the duck so moist and perfect. It came with these potatoes that were layered and thin; unbelievable. I would order just the potatoes if I could. Best dinner I've had in a while. I could eat there everyday. I cannot wait to go back.

Yum! I had the Puscanetta and it was so tasty. And the bread pudding was the perfect ending. I will definitely be returning.
Nice place. The Madagascar Filet was very tender ...I ordered it med-rare and was served rare, but that was OK, just be nice to get exactly what you order. The sauce was flavorful and the potato side was a slice of some au gratin layers. Nothing too spectacular. My wife had a mixed seafood dish that was tasty but a little heavy on the sauce. The scallops were excellent. All in all we had a nice time, the waiter was very helpful and polite, and the wine was appropriate.
The best!. We have been looking for a quality steak since moving up here. The fillet Mignon was out of this world. The seafood wasn't overcooked, and the service was great. I will be going back for my anniversary.
Hidden treat. Spendy, but great. One of my favorite dishes there, I don't know if they still have it, was the seafood crepe, try it if you get the chance.
Go to "special" night. I think this is the most authentic itailian in alaska. i get something new every time, my husband gets veal marsala. a decent wine selection. there is one man that is always there and he does not miss a beat, he makes great recommendations and is a server that takes his calling seriously.
I love pasta. My husband and I couldn't find a good Italian restaurant and I tried Nino's which we dud not enjoy. Campobello has exceeded our expectations and we have finally found "our" French/Italian favorite. Great great food. Sooooo delicious. Love the soups as well as the meal. Had a tomatoe and basil soup today and mmmmm-yummy!
Loved it. Great food, good portions, very reasonable prices. Got the veal marsala for around $25 and I got plenty of food and it was VERY good. It's been about ten years and a whole lot of Italian restaurants (throughout the lower 48 and here) since I've had good veal marsala.
I'll definitely be going back and will have a hard time deciding on sticking with the veal or branching out to something else.
