In September we hosted our annual family dinner for approximately 30 guests in the beautifully renovated event space at the Andes Hotel. The food was delicious with a creative menu that showcased seasonal items. The service was excellent and attentive and the decor/atmosphere was warm and welcoming with a cracking fire. Thank you for all the attention to detail.
Derek the owner has poured money into his business and we are grateful!! He supports the community every way he can. Lon, the chef, is fabulous and the wait staff too!!! Thank you Andes hotel
4.4 stars?? This place was a solid 5 stars. Apps were great. The steak and baked potato were amazing. The pork chop was out of this world. Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Love the decor. Absolutely loved it. Such a great restaurant. We Will be back again.
We stayed at the Andes hotel in April 2023 and had dinner in the restaurant which was good. This place is quaint, clean and quiet. We were very happy with the hotel staff and the service. It's very convenient staying here because you have somewhere to sleep and there are plenty of bars and brewery within walking distance if you didn't want to hang out at their bar. The rooms are very clean. We are already talkin about goin back. It's a great place to stay if you need to relax.
Dined on a Tuesday around 4:30 mid-May. Alone in dining room, but service was friendly, prompt. Chicken parm dinner and Cobb salad. Very generous portions. Chicken parm: generous cheeses, pasta+ sauce wonderfully hot, chicken tender and real. Cobb salad gigantic, spicey. Took containers home. Will try again, mid-summer. Looks like the place could get boisterous, though bar is in adjacent space. Solid northern Catskills dining.
I didn't actually stay here but did dine in. I ordered a steak and did get this huge steak for an amazing price. It was delicious and one of the better steaks I had. Service was gold and prompt.
They have good size bar in restaurant area with local craft beer. It's too bad I couldn't come here more often but I do highly recommend if you are passing by or near Andes.
Great old hotel. Fantastic food. Fun Friday night in the bar!!
Four stars because they are nice, clearly try hard, and are just so close…but here’s why they are not “there”
Let me start by saying that this review is not about deterring people from going to this restaurant (or hotel) It is more than adequate for a decent meal. Great ambiance, wonderful people.
However, as an operations specialist, and culinary enthusiast, these things need to be said in hopes of a remedy for a more successful business.
One, it took almost 15 minutes for us to get a menu. That’s not “let me exaggerate for effect”, 15 minutes. I mean 15 minutes.
Two, waiters need to be dressed more appropriately than a backwards hat, a flannel shirt, and ripped jeans. This is food service, not the gap.
Three, after ordering our meal from a lovely menu selection, and drinking our very tasty coffee, we witnessed the people next to us get a breakfast that was no where on the menu we were handed, nor told to us as a special. As it happens, I would have ordered it had it been communicated.
Third. If you are going to serve eggs Benedict, you better know how to make a hollandaise sauce. They either don’t, or cooked the eggs on too high of a heat, and the eggs curdled. It was thick and grainy and not silky and smooth. In Cracker Barrel this is acceptable. Not at a restaurant you want to be proud of.
Four, the açaí bowl, while delicious, was littered with frozen chunks.
Lastly, and most unfortunately, an elderly gentleman who was having breakfast was noticeably getting impatient waiting for someone to check on him and his guest. He was apparently wanting more coffee and eventually decided to go get it himself. After watching him walk to the kitchen, past our friend in the flannel shirt and backwards hat, he was poured coffee into his cup standing at the kitchen door. He then (this man wasn’t a day under 85) walked across the restaurant, and back outside carrying his coffee.
It is my hope that this very nice establishment is able to remedy these unfortunate deficiencies, and bridge the gap from decent to excellent.
I totally messed up my reservation and showed up 6 days earlier then I was supposed too. 🤦🏻♀️
I was cranky, rude and absolutely in the wrong. But, The Andes Hotel turned my frown upside down. They were kind, fixed my reservation and had the room ready extremely fast.
We ate, had coffee, celebrated my birthday and had a really wonderful time.
Thank you Andes Hotel for being fantastic.
The Town of Andes is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful shops and very welcoming.
I usually do not write food reviews because I’m overly critical since I’m a Culinary Institute graduate. But the meal I had at the Andes hotel was outstanding. The salmon was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Fell apart while eating it. So tender. And the brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes were SO delicious. Our server was friendly and had a sense of humor. Regret waiting as long as I did to drive over from Walton. Definitely will return.
Such a great spot in our small town. Derek the owner is a welcoming and warm personality who always goes above and beyond for the community. Not to mention the wine list has a great selection of natural wines and the beers are always perfectly chilled :)
My stay here was such a memorable one, even tho it was short. The staff were extremely kind and personable. The Tavern was a fun place to kick back and have some great food and drinks. The location is right in town just a short walk from Wayside Cider and some hiking trails and about 30 minutes from Plattekill ski mountain. The room was clean and had a cool vintage catskill vibe. The value was amazing from the food to the accommodations. I’m looking forward to planning my next trip up to the area and will definitely have it in mind going forward.
Had a blast! We stayed at a cabin near by and popped in one day for some food and drinks. We played some pool got to know some of the staff- we love Scott & Tara! I didn’t get the bartenders name but one of us got a martini and said it was excellent.
Excellent restaurant. The meal was delicious! We had the salmon and the Wild Boar Ragout, along with salads and a smoked trout platter. Dessert was a key lime tart and a chocolate torte. Each was very good. Highly recommended!
I absolutely love their food. They are dog friendly (dogs may eat on the outside patio with you.) The staff is wonderful. I cannot say enough nice thing about them. I am 34 and I have been coming there since I am a little girl and now I bring my family to the Andes Hotel. It is comfortable and inviting!
We just stopped for a few drinks after a long motorcycle ride. Beer was very good. Service was fine. It was great to sip on a beer while sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch. We will definitely be back.
