We live in this area and have eaten at this Hickory Tavern (Asheville: Biltmore Park) on many occasions. More times than not, our food is spot on, just the way we ordered it. On the few times we ate where it was not perfect, the staff and management insisted on remaking it. Today's lunch was indeed quite perfect. My B.Y.O. Salad was fresh and delicious, the dressing creamy and plentiful. And every ingredient (6 choices from a bunch) was fresh and yummy. We continue to eat here once a week or so. Giving this Hickory Tavern an A.
The best lobster roll ever. We just moved here and this will be our place to go... can't wait for our family to visit and check this place out..... our waiter was great....
Ordered a bunch of appy's with friends. Food is absolutely delicious...esp. the steamed oysters! Courtney, our server, was absolutely great, nice, and personable. I will be going back!
My sisters and I wanted to stop thru Asheville for lunch...this was a great decision. The staff was nice from the moment we stepped in.

The great atmosphere - more of a casual hang out place with TV's all around to watch sports, etc. The service was good. And there is a good variety to choose from on the menu. Huge draft beer collection. The wait staff is friendly and well trained.
A favorite. One of our favorites when in that area. Food is good and selection robust. Have always had friendly waiters and waitresses. Wait can be long on weekends and even some Thursdays, but depends on the time. Good location. Good salads and excellent sandwiches. Good place to watch sporting events on multiple TVs.
Good, but not as good as before. I first dined there about 4 years ago when I was staying in Asheville. Our dining experience was great and I loved the food. This second time we dined was at the new location. The restaurant is way too loud. I understand that they want to offer TV's for football fans, but what about those of us who just want to have a nice dinner and hear each other's conversation? The food was okay, and the server was a bit rude and defensive.
Not many beers on tap compared to other local pubs. My husband thought the wings were 8 out of 10. Black & blue burger was good. I had the flatbread which was fine. No vegetarian options. :(
Good Burgers. Without a doubt they have some the best Burgers in WNC.I have said that about other burger joints a good burger is a good burger. They have them here also.
Late night destination. I recommend Hickory Tavern for perfect late night munchies. We love to go sit on their patio and listen to the live music on saturday nights. They also have wonderful service (Request Jade or Steven, they are truly superb servers!) They have a full regular menu, and a late night menu for after 12 pm.
Hickory Tavern has good drink specials, but has a beer menu that is hard to beat. There is a large draft beer selection, and a bottle selection that keeps a beer geek like me happy. Definitely a must go destination when you are looking for an awesome late night menu.
Great food and a great place to watch any game. I don't ever order a salad as a main dish, but everybody I went with bulit there own salad they all looked really good.
This Place Rocks. Yes I live in Arden so the local haunts has it's limits. But wow great service from the sassy and sweet ladies, great conversation from every bartender that works this joint. Nice beer draft selection that they are working on to expand to satisfy the palates of locals who are accustomed to a great local brewery selection. Daily food and drink specials then they go a step further and do weekly and season special. I mean they really make an effort to spoil us with great appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, and big screen t.v.s. I'm not even sure if I deserve to partake in the way they spoil their patrons. But I won't complain and you'd be a fool not to try this place out. CRAB LEGS check em out. You'd be a fool not to..Seriously..
Culinary offerings in South Asheville have expanded over the past year and there are no indications this trend is slowing. This has become my go to bar in town. They always keep my favorite beers in stock for me. Bartenders are awesome. We come and hang out with Kayla most nights and she takes great care of us. She’s fast and is always on top of all the bar guests needs. Food is delicious and they always have on all the games. Would definitely recommend.
This place is incredible. Good music, friendly and helpful staff, an TVS! TVS! TVS! A great sports bar or get together spot for family and friends. Highly recommend and also under new management.
The food was okay, decent prices, very spacious with plenty of large screens which is perfect to watch sports (football season). Great service as well.
Food was great but service was even better. We had our dog with us who is very well behaved. My husband a disabled vet (we didn't bring that up to the staff) is very attached to our dog and didn't wanna leave him behind. When we arrived to Hickory Tavern we were told the back patio was closed so we wouldn't be able to bring our dog. Erica, the hostess was nice enough to go talk to management (without us asking, we understood we couldn't and were ok with leaving). Erica told us they couldn't accommodate us and so we left. Then shortly, we heard Erica yelling out to come back as the waitress assured she wouldn't have a problem serving us outside on the patio. The waitress was super nice to us and our doggie and provided great service. We surely will be back because food you can find anywhere but service like this is hard to find.
We came with a large group, about 9 people, and had the split the checks individually. Heather was our server, and she was amazing in keeping up with all of us. I ordered the hand-breaded chicken tenders with a side of gouda mac and cheese, which was an up-charge (understandably so). The food was really good. The tenders came with a honey mustard dipping sauce, and I do not usually like honey mustard (I don’t like mustard in general), but the mustard flavor was low enough that it was sweet and paired well with the tenders. The gouda mac and cheese was really good, too. I will say that for the amount of food I got, I felt that the price was high. So I don’t think I would order this combination again.
Really enjoyed the Berry Fuego cocktail (silver tequila, lime juice, blackberry, soda, and ginger beer w/jalapeño). Our party also liked the fried shrimp po'boy, and two of us split a fried grouper sandwich and got the gouda mac & cheese and fried Brussel sprouts. Service was good too.
One of my favorite bars. Love the shrimp tacos and the tavern burger especially. When I sit in the bar, I usually have Elaine and she’s always fast and friendly. Otherwise I sit at the bar and always get great service there as well. Overall, a solid spot.

Great service, both @ the inside bar w/ Kayla & outside on the patio with Sarah! American Pub Food done perfectly! Husband had charred cajun rub (dry) wings, & they were awesome!! (He added a side of mild Buffalo sauce over them on his own) & I had the Turkey Reuben, with side of gouda Mac & cheese. Everything was delicious... TV's were playing current sports...
Good food, decent service, and a good sports bar atmosphere. Plenty of screens including two big screens. Good place to have some good food and catch a game.
