Spent all day at VA Hospital and leaving my daughter to decide where to eat was a challenge because I’m in a motorized wheelchair. we pulled into the back of Portabellos to see if I could fit and the owner came out to say he would put me through the window if I couldn’t fit thru the door. (Kidding, I think). He was so hospitable and made us feel welcomed. Our dinner’s was perfectly made to our liking and was brought out very fast. (No food or water for me all day) On my way out the back door I thanked the two chef’s in the kitchen and said this was my first time hear, but will not be my last. Don’t know your first names but I will learn them soon. Thank you for being YOU! Maurine And Lori

Delicious varied menu with an impressive wine list. It was full but not too loud or crowded. We had (and recommend) the hamburger, beef lasagna, and black bean soup.

Love Portobellos! Omg - the lamb with rice and broccoli is amazing. And, MJ always provides warm yummy bread with the meal. Once you become a regular, he remembers your drink of choice and dietary restrictions. It’s quiet - no blaring TVs - so you can actually talk to the person you are with. I’ve never had a bad meal here. In fact, the food is wonderful!

After a long work day my husband and I stopped here for dinner to avoid traffic. The food was excellent my crab cake sandwich was delightful. The owner was very pleasant and friendly and made a great lemon drop martini. If we are ever in the area again we will be stopping by.

MJ offered a Thanksgiving dinner that was the best I have eaten (I’m 75). The portions were generous. The turkey was moist and vegetables seasoned well and not overcooked. Congratulations on a job well done.

This restaurant is awesome. The owner is outstanding, the menu is outstanding and the service is second to none. Prices are well within the norm for the Arlington restaurant scene. I'd recommend the shrimp and grits or the steak. Portabellos has a monthly dinner for two as well.

When the worst thing about a restaurant is that its butter is cold and tough to put on the bread, I think things are pretty good. The restaurant is located in the back of an unassuming location and might feel a little worn out at first when you walk in, but the young, friendly staff really made of for that with the quick greeting and service. The meals we ordered had solid portions and tasted great. Definitely worth the prices paid. This must bring in return customers since there were lots of regulars frequenting it in the time we were there. My only issue with the place was how quiet the place was, leaving most tables to eat fairly silently. While we're not currently looking for it that often, if I'm looking for a quiet night out this is where we'd go.
