I have lived in fayette county almost all my life and I have never been here until today! Boy was I missing out! The parking is crazy but the FOOD and SERVICE is so worth it. I’m mad that we have not tried this place until now and most of that reason is bc there’s never anywhere to park. Now I see why! I would walk here if I had to! It’s definitely down home southern country cooking and the place just feels like home even for us today. They serve you drinks in huge mason jar type glasses and the food comes out fresh and hot! Today I had the fried pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes and gravy, and fried green tomatoes. My sister had the same just fried catfish instead. Y’all! It was awesome! I dont know if I’ve had better fried green tomatoes ever! Kids ate their food right up and my daughter demolished her catfish and onion rings! It was an amazing experience and we will definitely be back to try everything on the menu! �

Absolutely THE BEST food I ever put in my mouth and I am vegan and gluten-free. Sling Shot's is the best-kept secret in the area and well worth the drive. Ms. Bettye and her team have a good thing going. Y'all come on down! <3 ... P.S. I'm telling everybody about this place and sending in all of my friends. Can't wait to come back!
Saw it on Tennessee crossroads and had to stop in on my way to Memphis. I will be back. That was the best food I’ve had in a long time! Fried green tomatoes were top notch! Chicken and dumplings.. best I’ve ever had. And great hospitality!
Recently took a moving cross country trip from California to South Carolina and passing through Tennessee we stopped at Sling shot Charlie’s and it was amazing nothing like we expected. I am definitely returning and my grandmother and I highly recommend this place also the Ribeye is amazing.
We went to Slingshot Charlie's Saturday. First of all it's really neat inside. All sorts of interesting things on the walls. The people were really friendly and the service top notch. Food? Really good. I had the 1/2 pound cheeseburger and fries and the wife had the meatloaf. Nice. I'd recommend it too my friends and family.
The Food was great, The MAC and Cheese and purple hull peas were the best I have ever had in my life. I live about 30 miles from there and I will be back to bring my friends and family back. My Team National friends might meet up there one night for dinner as well. I thank my Friend Charlie Cummings and his wife Adam for asking me to go there with him and her for dinner, Great choice. It’s worth the drive from Collierville.
There is always a wait, but it is ALWAYS worth it! The food is not just a little bit good, it's "slap ya mama" good! My fave is the spinach potatoes - I know, I know, it sounds strange. But try it and you're hooked. Great home-cooking and service.
By far one of the best down to earth home cooked meals I have eaten. Everything is cooked fresh to order and the deserts are made from scratch, heavenly. Always hot and fresh!

Fantastic! The grilled tenderloin was awesome! My wife had the catfish sandwich and she said it was great. Kids had the chicken tenders and were happy.They were busy but took us (party of 6) less than 5 minutes to be seated.The waitress was friendly and very good. I will be back soon!!
All I can say is everything I ate was delicious and perfectly cooked. The prices were reasonable and our waitress was adorable and very attentive. I recommend it highly.

Food was awesome! Black eyed peas were the bomb, everything was great! Desserts were yum!

This place has A-mazing country cooking. I have been numerous times and the food has been consistently delicious. Get there early or you will be waiting for a table. The place gets crowded about 6p.m. Fabulous desserts as well. You will leave with a smile on your face.
We just ate at Slingshot Charlie's for Sunday lunch. The four of us loved it! The chicken and dressing was flavorful and tender. The Mexican cornbread was amazing. The spinach potatoes were outstanding. The greens were perfect. They have really good sweet tea. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is fun and cozy. We would definitely like to go back.
True home style food in a quaint little eatery.I visited Charlie's with a friend who frequents the restaurant as he lives nearby.He advised we arrive early to avoid the crowd. Good advise. We roll in at 5:00 pm and were seated immediately but the influx was right behind us.Our server was a young woman, polite, efficient and making sure we had what we wanted.I had an appetite for Catfish. My friend ordered hot wings.We both ordered the same sides of turnip greens, Crowder peas and Mexican cornbread.My Catfish was fried to perfection. Mildly seasoned, crisp crust and not a hint of grease.Sides were fresh and very good . The peas would benefit with a bit more seasoning.The Mexican cornbread was a delight. Moist and airy yet dense in texture.I wish Charlie's were closer to home. I would eat their menu up.
Best restaurant in the Arlington area hands down! Chicken livers, chicken tenders, chicken and dressing, sweet potato casserole, mac and cheese, & hush puppies...everything my family ordered was fantastic. Only complaints would be the sweet tea, not sweet enough for my liking, and it was hot as hades in there! First time visiting, I'll be back very soon.
Had lunch today and the food was very good, service was very good also. Only negative is a little pricey for the portion size.
Tried it last week for the first time. I'm fairly hard to please, especially when it comes to home-cooking. I was completely surprised at the quality of the food. The fried chicken livers were great, the turnip greens were fresh, not straight out of the can. Homemade mashed potatoes and gravy were excellent and to really top it off the blackberry cobbler was some of the best I ever ate. I'm on my way back now to try the chicken and dressing.
When you have that craving for fish on Friday and your tired of going to the same ole place. This is where you want to go. Well worth the drive from the big city. Great food and a down home atmosphere. Just don’t order so much so you’ll not be able to have desert. All homemade deserts. Wonderful.

This restaurant has cornered the market on a unique dining experience of home cooked food.
Think about it, who goes out for home cooking when you can just go home to cook? The answer, people who come here.
Such a warm and friendly atmosphere, with daily special menus written on dry erase boards, sodas served in mason jars, and staff that will make you feel at home.
Two of the items that we ordered, they were out of. And to me, I'm all good with that. Being in the restraunt business for over 25 years, I understand quality control and fresh food ordering. The place was packed, and that too was cool, the more the merrier right?
Freshly relocated from the Left Coast, I found myself looking at a menu full of items I had never seen on a menu. Fried chicken liver, gizzards, green tomatoes, squash, you name it, they had it, and it was fried. It was almost like being at the food court at the county fair.
To me, I'm not much into fried food, so I really didn't click with the food. Everything I ordered was new to me. Fried chicken gizzards (delicious but chewier than a Goodyear), fried green tomatoes, fried squash, and fried jalapeno hush puppies. All served with an icy cold Dr. Pepper in a mason jar. Everything tasted good, but once again, I'm not into fried food.
Why 4 stars, although I'm not a fan of the style of food, it was still prepared tasty and everything else was great.
Would I come back here again? Not by myself, but definitely with a group of friends, as this place is as I said before, a fun place to go to. Who knows, maybe my taste buds will change....
A great local place with a friendly staff. The place is casual and southern sides change daily. Menu has a good variety of options. Many fried but was still good eats. Portion sizes are pretty large and looking at some other people's plates some are worthy of a takeout box. Can't ask for a more relaxed place to get a good bite of food. Have to again recognize the staff for their friendly nature.
Took a while to get our food but it was delicious. The desserts were fantastic. My son got the chocolate cobbler and we think he we won for the night. It was amazing.
Fantastic environment and food is good too! Especially Fried Green Tomatoes! We always order 2 orders of them! There is a lot of fried foods but there are always a few no fried options. The desserts are pretty good too all homemade! Beth is probably the best waitress they have! Great personality and always spot on with refills and anything else you need. You will also see some younger boys busing tables and helping where help is needed! Very proud to be new regulars!!
