I would go there again just for the complimentary corn bread (muffin?) which seemed fresh out of the oven. Fried chicken was crispy yet tender, just how it should be. But my favorite were the salmon cakes, which had a kick of lemon to it. The homely feel of the restaurant and the friendly staff were an added bonus and made for a truly "soulful" experience.

Did take out on a Sunday. It was very good. They only down side was I tried to call to place the order but no one answered. So I had to wait for the food. But it was well worth it.

Always a great experience! Gluten free and celiac friendly options (I recommend calling ahead and letting them know so they can be prepared for gf orders) BYOB. Best fried chicken I have ever had!

Beyond authentic, extremely courteous and impeccably run family owned business! The only gluten free fried chicken we have had and we live in NYC. We have not found a restaurant who dares to make truly gluten free fried chicken. The owner is not trying to make trendy hipster food. The owner is making it for a family member who is truly gluten free! The food is fantastic and addictive! I had the corn bread for breakfast! All of the sides were equally delicious! The portions are generous we are having it for dinner again! The restaurant and staff are truly a breath of fresh air in Asbury Park which used to be a ghost town and is now a "scene". There is no scene here just awesome food and friendly people!

We enjoyed an amazing meal and the wonderful company of the owner and her family after a day at the Sea Hear Now festival. We grew up in southern Louisiana and have eaten a lot of great, southern food along the Gulf Coast. We found this place by chance, since we parked nearby. We were thoroughly impressed by the food. The food is made with fresh ingredients. The owner has adjusted recipes to make healthier versions taste even better than the usual. My husband had a generous amount of juicy fried chicken & perfectly cooked asparagus. We shared a black eyed pea and beet side salad. I had the tilapia with sweet potato topping. I wished I could have finished it all but my husband ended up eating my leftover to-go fish, out of the box and with his bare hands as soon as we got to our truck. We both enjoyed generous servings of collard greens (Oh, those collard greens! ❤️❤️ I could have eaten them out of their supply.). The cornbread was perfect. We live four+ hours away but this place may be calling us back. If you’re fortunate enough to meet and talk with the owner, Janice, you’re in for the full treat.

A great gluten free option! I was excited to try this restaurant because I am gluten free and cannot even remember the last time I had fried chicken. I was absolutely blown away by the quality of their gluten free food. My family tried both my food and the "regular" food and could not find a difference in taste. I had fried calmari and fried chicken and it was absolutely delicious. I was also fortunate enough to visit a day that they had gluten free corn bread and macaroni and cheese. We found out that most days if you want these options you just need to call a few hours ahead of your reservation and they will make them for you. I definitely recommend this restaurant even if you are not gluten free or vegan. The staff is very friendly and the food is great!

Food was awesome. Sadly they are closing March 1. The plate size was perfect to the price.

We had the mixed starter and short rib with BBQ sauce. All excellent. At the end of the meal we had food envy about the fried chicken on the table next to us. The owner bought us some pieces with the bill - which was totally awesome. Would I go again? YES.

At the table was great, The food the service was great . They have a buffet that my friend had which everything was fresh & hot. I had the oxtail which came with 2 sides besides the rice & peas I had macaroni & cheese and candid yams. Great. Besides all that they bring you as much fresh hot corn bread you want while your waiting for your food and while you are eating. Great place .
