Phenomenal! The ultimate seafood experience, which goes a long way being from New England. My first time trying a fried lobster tail, and it exceeded my expectations. All the food was lightly fried, seasoned and fresh. Highly recommended!

If you’re looking for a seafood place, this it! Fords has been one of our “go to” seafood restaurant for over 10 years. I wasn’t able to get food photos this time, but got photos of the seating & outside area. Their Fish & Chips are the best! Fords is hands down the greatest of all the places I’ve been to for Fish & Chips. They are tender and fried to perfection. I take a bite and say “oh my gosh, delicious.” Almost like a melt in your mouth euphoria. We love their cornbread little muffins, they come with a whipped butter and together they are perfect to have prior to the entree arriving. My mother-in-law loves, loves, loves their Mussels (and the fried oyster/shrimp basket). My father in-law loves the Calamari (and the Salmon dish). They drive up from Stafford, VA specifically to order these dishes. Request to Fords, please try to perfect the green beans that come with the Salmon dish, the green beans “were edible”, but could have been cooked a little longer. I’ve tried the New England Cod only at the South Riding location (which is now closed until they reopen at a new location), the Cod is fabulous, but struggle with their green beans, they are typically undercooked with this dish. We ordered the Rocket Shrimp which was good and the green beans were cooked well with this dish. Overall, 100% love this place. Thanks to Fords and look forward to their Chantilly location opening up in 2024!

We flew into IAD for a work event early enough that we needed to stop and get some lunch. A quick search of best seafood restaurants near the airport yielded Ford’s Fish Shack Ashburn and we are so glad it did. We partook of their Blueberry Lemonade to refresh ourselves before dining and it is delicious and fresh and a bit tart and reminder of springtime as we fade into fall. They are serving an appetizer that is a tad tongue in check — humor is always welcomed — Buffalo Fish Wings! Now this is a deep fried concoction of battered Puffer Fish and tossed in Buffalos sauce. We had no idea that Puffer Fish had wings s flew so this was a real treat. Quite tasty and fun!!! To round things out we went with some of our favorite a player of blackened Shrimp and Scallops. Given how many great dishes this place had to offer this was a tad to regular for our norm, but we have not had good scallops and butterflied shrimp in a while and we needed to scratch that itch. Their fish and chips looked spectacular, their Lobstah looked even more amazing and clearly the local come for the shrimp tacos! So I expect you will get a great food experience no matter what you order. If you live in the great Dulles Airport area just go!

The food was great. I was not a fan of fish and chips before, but this place changed my mind completely. The dish was delicious and now I’m converted 😁. Second time we went there my husband had a lobster roll, which was delicious as well. That’s the place to go for delicious food, very nice service and a good atmosphere. If it wasn’t ways from us we’d go there more often.

I've been here around 7 times and always have a different experience. Today I went in the door around 3min until 11am and was told to wait ✋️ we're not open yet. So i had to wait 3 min outside... This was very off putting, no hospitality. No love. I couldn't even wait inside and the doors were open. The host was literally just standing there. I waited my 3min and then went back inside. Food was good and the waitress was very nice. It seemed that the host today was a little grumpy but I understand we all have our off days.... it's Monday after all.

We ordered clam chowder, fish and chips, blackened scallops with penne pasta, and blueberry lemonade - all were excellent. The clam chowder had spicy crackers instead of the traditional oyster crackers so an interesting twist on that. The fish in the fish and chips was high quality and had a delicious light crispy coating. We substituted sweet potato fries for the chips to have a different take on the dish. The scallops were as good as we’ve had and the sauce with that dish was quite good — for us the cilantro enhanced the flavor nicely. The lemonade with blueberries and mint made for a refreshing finish to the meal (we were served water as well without asking). The two of us got there at about 6:45 on a Monday evening, were seated right away and the service was efficient — faster that most places we’ve eaten. We also sat outside with perfect weather, which made the experience even better.

Love the Maine style seafood joint. Clams, steamers, lobsters. Yum. I miss the Sea Dog blueberry beer. I also miss the DIY lobster roll kits but I guess they were a pandemic special. Love the footlong sammies, including lobster roll. 🦞🦞 The pecan crusted trout is also really good. Tasty mac & cheese side.

Great atmosphere, friendly service, and fantastic food. The lobster was the best I've ever had, and my husband and I devoured the mixed berry shortcake.

I really enjoyed our time here and thought the food was outstanding. The servers were kind and prompt and the staff had a quick solution for us when we had a seating problem.

We've been coming to Ford's for years, by now. Great food -- as usual -- but the portion sizes seem to have reduced recently. Arrived at a busy time and skipped (or forgot) the reservation, so we had exactly a half-hour of wait. Parking is generous, to the front of the place. Seated at a booth, with passable (yet forgettable) atmosphere. Here's what we had: Drink, I had the blueberry lemonade. It sat quite right with me, thank you. It came with a large straw that facilitated the influx of fresh blueberries. For apps, we had the angry mussels and the calamari which upheld their rep. For entrees, our table had: - Fish of the day -- Arctic Char - Seafood basket w/ sautéed shrimp and scallops - Salmon - me: Lobster Roll, CT style w/ half-rack ribs as add-on, shoestring fries and grilled corn as side My dish -- the Lobster Roll -- was too bland for my palate. Looks like the Connecticut (CT) style only added butter as a side, which didn't really have any discernible effect to my tastes. Long story short, I could not taste my dish (at all). I tried to ignore the richness of bread and capitalize on the lobster bits alone, paired w/ butter. It was like pushing water -- or rolling a boulder -- uphill. The ribs I had (add-on) was likewise nothing great. I could barely taste the meager and drying BBQ sauce, and the meat felt comparable to chewing watered-down cardboard, after a fashion. There was no highlight to speak of, in regards to the dish I ordered. However, the other dishes ordered at the table were very tasty! For dessert, we went with the white chocolate bread pudding, which was served with vanilla ice cream. It was pretty aight, but not to our tastes. Overall, very good for seafood!
