It is a great spot to bring friends or my little girl to! And just along Haywood Road where there are plenty of other great shops to check out.
The staff and owner are all very pleasant. The artwork and outdoor space are unique and very enjoyable. And, of course, every flavor of ice cream I have tried is completely delicious! (Most recently my kid loved the "Unicorn Poop Flavor" which was a berry-- light blue berry in color with rainbow colored candy chunks)

Love this unique little ice cream shop. There selection is awesome and the flavors are unique and delicious. Any time of the year, it is the best.

Lovely staff, very friendly. Ice cream options are creative and delicious!! Very reasonably priced, and even allows dogs in on leash, what more could you ask for?? We're from Savannah, but if we were locals, we would come often. Great place!
The ice-cream was AMAZINGLY creamy it was worth the trip from Smithfield to Asheville!!!

Amazingly crafted ice cream. Prefect balances of flavor. Strawberry Nutella and sundown shindig were life changing. And the cute girl w short dark hair was so helpful and friendly. Can't wait to visit again.

My family always loves visiting The Hop (at any location). They have great homemade ice cream, and always smiling, courteous staff. This week, my daughter had her eighth birthday and we were in need of an ice cream cake to keep the party Hoppin'. With uncomfortably short notice, the folks at the Hop fastidiously crafted a delicious 1/4 sheet cake with perfect decoration, and accommodated a nut allergy for some of the guests. We got exactly what we needed, delivered with perfect customer service and gracious attitudes. It feels great to support a local store committed to such high quality products and service. Thanks, and we'll be back!!!

Tons of vegan and gluten free options and a variety of milks makes this one of the most diverse ice cream shops I’ve been in. The vegan ice creams could be more creamy and flavorful, but I will be back to try the others!

My family and I absolutely love this place. We’ve just recently over the years started ordering custom ice cream cakes from them as well and they are so adorable and cute ! We love them and will continue to go for years to come.
Was feeling like ice cream but had eaten a lot of fatty food earlier in the day. So i tried the oat milk version of birthday cake ice cream and it was really great. I was buying for a group of 5 and was amazed at how inexpensive it was compared to other places I've been to recently. Very satisfied.
My wife and I love The Hop. So much so that we eloped on the back porch and had planned on their icecream instead of cake for our family ceremony before COVID cancelled it. They have plenty of options for varying dietary restrictions and about half their offerings at any given time are dairy-free. All icecreams are clearly labeled with what allergens or sensitivities they contain.
Some of our favorites over the years:
Dairy Free chocolate beet
Mocha oreo
Strawberry (made with fresh local strawberries usually)
Any coffee/espresso flavor really
Almost all of their chocolate base ones
The people who work in there are also always friendly and helpful.
The Hop is still our favorite go to spot for ice cream when we are in Asheville. The Hop offers a wide range of flavor options for dairy and dairy-free ice cream lovers alike. They also offer a wide range of gluten free flavors as well as a gluten free cone. Their homemade waffle cones and waffle bowls are amazing!
Do yourself a favor and stop by one of their locations. You won't be disappointed!
Pro-tip: Due to Covid, they aren't offering samples at the moment.

Some of the best ice cream I have ever had. They have very unusual and interesting flavors like tomato paste and rosemary as well as blueberry kale. Got an ice cream cake from here, slightly in the expensive side but worth ever penny.

Funky flavors, friendly people, fun atmosphere! You'll have to come often so you can try all the great ice cream. I got the Peach Amaretto Sour. Wow! It was fantastic!
