Great find! They serve coffee, cocktails, and wine. Relaxing atmosphere. The staff was courteous and attentive.
The second place in five years I have found that has great hot chocolate! (Why is that so hard?!). The other one being Ugly Mug in Garner.
I'm looking forward to trying more on their menu.

We have experienced Waterbird a few times now, both for breakfast and evening drinks. First, the service has been great every time. The drinks are fantastic. The Rosebud was very refreshing. My coffee was the perfect compliment to the biscuits and gravy. Ended breakfast with the griddled banana bread with the toasted walnut butter. Really lovely space, very light and airy, with hanging plants and a really great vibe. Some of the best biscuits and gravy we’ve had, made with local ingredients.
Relaxed , modern atmosphere. Cocktails are some of the best in town. Recently had dinner here and went home very satisfied. Fried chicken was cooked well and very light for being fried. This is quickly becoming one if my favorites. While outside downtown parking is sometimes an issue but otherwise this is a gem.
Gorgeous, delicious drinks and food, always. All the small details from decor to food and drink presentation all add up for a wonderful experience every time. Had one of the best salads I’ve ever had and my friend said his martini was one of the best he’s had as well.
The Waterbird is a great! It's a really cute place with great hours. I really appreciate that they're open past 5 every night.
Their sodas are honestly my favorite part of the menu, so fresh! Their cocktails and coffee are also pretty good too. Definitely stop by for homework, a date, or just a place to hang out.
Sat at the bar for for a delicious vegetarian option, the rice bowl with added tofu, and a house made peach soda. I asked my server a question about the digestive offerings, which he wasn't able to answer, so the bar manager graciously walked me through a private tasting of at least 10 different bitters and liqueurs. Maybe I don't get out much, but I was genuinely stunned by the generosity and hospitality that I experienced at The Waterbird. I will spread the word. Great food, lovely decor and friendly staff.
Wow wow wow! When I was visiting Asheville, I couldn’t stop coming to this place of perfection. Seriously, I will be back whenever I come to Asheville. The food is divine and the drinks equally as good. My latte was the exact temperature I was hoping for. The staff is cool and relaxed and friendly. It’s as good for working and hanging as it is for drinks and dinner with friends. Fabulous!!!!!!!!
This is such a hidden gem! Only 5 minutes from downtown- it is absolutely gorgeous inside, has amazing coffee and cocktails/beer/wine, has a breakfast/lunch/dinner menu that are all reasonably priced and creative (I had the MBLT for lunch and it was delicious). Not to mention a couch and comfy chairs in addition to tons of table/bar seating. The service was phenomenal- I wasn’t hungry enough for a side with my sandwich but wanted to add avocado so they didn’t charge me for the avocado, I also got a large portion of avocado which is rare. You are missing out if you don’t check this place out!! Bummed I didn’t find it sooner on my trip!

8/6/2020 Update: so glad they are back open! Didn’t know they could improve on perfection but their breakfast sammie is soooo good with the English muffin and this time I got an agave oat milk latte- 100000xs better than honey, who knew! 😃 everyone was really friendly and keeping the place well sterilized. The barista who made my drink did a great job, and the woman who rang me up had great energy, what a way to start my morning ☀️
Original Review: Whoa I love this place! Appreciate I was able to get an excellent honey latte with all the closings happening due to the outbreak 💔. Both guys behind the bar were really friendly and helpful. I did the build your own breakfast sammie and it was delish 😋 I originally asked for egg whites only and when they asked the chef they said it couldn’t be done, but when I got home to my pleasant surprise they did it 🥰💝. I also got the grilled banana bread with walnut butter and omg 😍😭 it is the most divine sweetness I’ve had in a long time 💗. This space is GORGEOUS 💚 I love the plants all around, it makes the energy feel very different inside compared to the panic and stress going on outside. Very large space with a long bar and lots of tables, as well as couch/chair options. I didn’t see a lot of outlets for if I wanted to bring my laptop and do some work from here, but I could definitely see this being a spot I come to meet friends for coffee/tea/cocktails ☕️ 🍸.
Great food and an excellent beverage selection. They make amazing craft non-alcoholic drinks and shrubs, and the atmosphere is really cool. The decor is awesome and it was a fun place to chill for a couple of hours.
We're always excited about new neighborhood places and, the Waterbird didn't disappoint! We stopped by in the morning to grab some coffee and check it out. While our coffee was being made, we looked over the menu and were quite impressed.
The price-point was spot-on and everything looked so good! Definitely looking forward to making this a routine place for morning coffee to evening cocktails and food. The atmosphere was inviting and, it's obvious that a lot of thought and heart went into every aspect. Can't wait to get this routine started!
This place is a real gem in North/downtown Asheville. Great food, coffee, and drinks. The staff are very nice, and are really knowledgeable about the wine list. Cute modern atmosphere. Happy to have this place in the neighborhood.
This place was delightful. The service was incredible. The owner and the individual working there went out of there way to make us feel at home ad provide exceptional and friendly service. On top of that, the coffee was great as well as the decor/atmosphere. Thank you for a great experience!
A-mazing! All we had was cocktails this trip; they were top notch. The staff here are really cool. Will go back to try some food and update. Everything on the menu looked good and if the same care is taken with their food as they do with the cocktails (I'm sure it is) then I know we will be in for a treat!
