This is my pick for traditional Chinese food in the valley. The food has always tasted fresh and the service is prompt and courteous. They definitely use their own recipes instead of just buying mass quantities of pre-made sauces. Their servings are more than generous and a combination meal will serve as a couple dinners and a lunch for me. They advertise that they use all white chicken meat and that has been my experience. The batter-fried chicken dishes (ie. Mar Far, General Tsao) are better than I've found elsewhere in the area. They use larger pieces of chicken battered just right and cooked at the right temperature so it's not greasy.
The restaurant is very simple and not particularly my favorite hangout. But it's been clean when we chose to eat there. However we usually opt for take out.
We have and will continue to return.

I enjoyed my meal here. Service was quick and the lady that sat us and took the order was very nice (owner?). The food was fast coming out of the kitchen and was very delicious. Will be returning.
The food was delicious and the owner very welcoming. I had Golden Phoenix Special Chow Yuk that was excellent! I will definitely make this a stop on our shopping trips!
Always good!. I never really noticed the Golden Phoenix until Kim's closed a few years ago, but I have been a fan since then! It's good, basic food at a decent price. The staff is friendly and attentive and the site, though small, is clean and comfortable. Give them a try!

Pam. The Golden Phoenix in Phoenix Or. is the best chinese food around. The mar far chicken is all white meat, no grissel and never over breaded to make it look bigger. (same with the shrimp) The chow main isn't just a bunch of bean sprouts. I always order the chiken chow main and there is quite a bit of chicken in there, all white meat too. The rice is perfect every time. I've tried several things, all good, but these are my fave's. The pink or shrimp sauce is kept in the fridge too, not on the table all day. The portions are too big and the prices are very affordable. I have always recieved wonderfull friendly service, wether I eat in or order to go. Infact, I have friends in Washington, who every time they come viset, they have to eat here before they leave. The atmosphere does leave something to be desired, very small and not real traditional. I have peeked into the kitchen (with permission) and it is definatly clean. I have not used the restroom. Check it out, you'll be happy you did!
This place is very good. They have a nice staff as well, and are very quick with take out. Their mar far chicken is awesome because they actually give you a lot of chicken, instead of the typical breaded/greasy little pieces of mystery meat.
Couldn't find a menu anywhere online so figured I'd upload pictures of their most current one's. Decent Chinese place, fast and polite service. Only complaint is the massive amount of sauce at the bottom of our orange and general chicken boxes. Was a little strange, but all the sauces did seem house made, not like most places.
The owners are wonderful. Some of my favorite Chinese cuisine in the valley.
I always stop here whenever I come to the Rogue Valley to visit family. They have delicious Chinese food that always hits the spot. I love many of the beef dishes, and especially love the sake.

Great fresh, hot and tasty food. Golden Phoenix Chinese is the only chinese restaurant I will go to in the Rogue Valley. Food is consistently fresh and well made. They have been serving Phoenix for almost 20 years. They are definitely doing things right.
Too bad that several patrons have had bad experiences at this restaurant. I’ve had nothing but great tasting food, served by courteous and helpful people, and it’s been that way every time I’ve been there. Fresh, hot food for a fair price in a friendly atmosphere ... looks right to me ! Thank you !
I’d like to mention some things that I’ve eaten here that are worth mentioning since I last posted the review above. Happened to try their Marfar chicken, which is very similar to Kim’s from several years back. The best ever : chunks of white meat with a light, crunchy coating ... amazing ! And their crab puffs are a must have. Actually more crab meat than cream cheese, together with a hint of green onion. Delicious ! Love me some Golden Phoenix !!
Absolutely delicious. Amazing food! Had it a handful of times now and everytime it is just as good as the last. Friendly and kind staff. The spring rolls are INCREDIBLE.
