We were in NY for a family event and wanted to try and Italian restaurant in the neighborhood that I grew up in. I researched the reviews of Trattoria L'incontro and decided to try. Oh my, what an exceptional dining experience.
Authentic Italian food that is simply the best . Greeted warmly for our reservation and seated. Our Waiter and owner helped us select a wine from Tuscany and described the specials which were extensive. Decided to go with the squash blossom appetizer which was like how I grew up, a special fig salad and pasta as our main course.
Absolutely amazing !! My wife and I said it could be the best Italian meal we have ever had including in Italy.
Highly recommend !
I love this place. The food tastes amazing and service was incredible. Very clean. We went on a Sunday around 1pm and not a lot of people were there which was nice. I got the veal rigatoni. It was divine. Portion was good size.
Excellent ambience and exceptional food and service. Old world Italian cousin. We had Burrata, Pasta Alfredo, Lemon Veal and Stuffed Pork Chops, and for dessert a delicious Pistachio Creme Brûlée.
Gluten Free Pasta available.
Reservations required.
The food was so delicious and authentic, plus the service was great, everyone was very attentive. The burrata with prosciutto was so light and creamy. The veal tortellini was amazing, I even ordered one to go because it was so good and still tasted good the next day! The egg yolk ravioli with truffle was perfect, the egg was runny and oozed perfection. The pistachio crème brûlée was amazing, still dreaming about it!
Place was packed but superb amazing food! I suggest to book ahead as it was crowded when we were there.
Amazing service and great food! The salads were a great size to share and the pizza was thin and perfect to fold and enjoy. Great flavors and a perfect amount of cheese. Delicious! The staff was so friendly and helpful. My one daughter was chilly and one of the guys brought her a tablecloth to use as a blanket. Warmed my heart.
Was recommended by a friend of Italian descent who grew up in Astoria and said this place is "the best Italian restaurant in Astoria"
Service was great, food was delicious, expansive menu, plenty of seating available. Will be back to try out other dishes.
Overall:
If you are looking for a more modern twist on Italian food this is NOT the place for it. Here you will find traditional flavors, simple and straight to the point.
Service:
Amazing. Staff is attentive and checking on you. Very knowledgeable of what they are serving. Floor manager walking around making sure everyone is properly being managed. Great service no complaints
Food:
Traditional and straight to the point. I was going in expecting modernized flavors but that wasn't the point of the place. Family style flavors. If you catch my drift.
Price:
Pretty standard nothing to complain about.
Verdict:
I would go again but I'm more of a person that loves modernized flavors but nothing wrong with going back to the fundamentals of cooking.
I went today to celebrate my sister's birthday, and Edwin was a great waiter and knowledge about the specials of the day. He was very attentive throughout our dining experience. I would definitely recommend this place.
A very old school traditional Italian restaurant. All waiters are males, hostesses are females. The decor probably hasn't been updated for at least 2 decades. Saying that, the service was very good, attentive and kind. The food was good, although I expected a more wow experience. Sea food was fresh, everything was tasty, made of fresh and high quality ingredients, however it felt a bit like an upgraded fancy version of really food home cooking.
The acoustics in the place need some attention. Too loud and crowded. The wine we chose was wonderful.
Second time here and it was just as great as the first time. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. It's always good when you leave a restaurant stuffed! See you guys soon, we'll be back!
What an amazing experience, attentive, smiling, helpful waiter. Great tasting food
Updated: second visit was better than the first. Original: The quality of the food was above expectation and exceeded the prices. Rocco was a gracious host as he left the kitchen to visit all the tables. We will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone looking for quality Italian cuisine.
Rocco, thank you for always taking the time say hello, spread some love, come to the table and discuss the specials of the day. You always make us feel at home in your dining area. The time and attention to detail dedicated to each dish does not go unnoticed. Once the food hits your palate, it is sensory overload. Taste, smell, texture, it's like biting into a work of art. The egg ravioli is out of this world, a must try! Last night was my first time ordering a steak, it was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. Another must try! When Rocco comes to you greet, you should just go all in and ask him for a Chef's tasting... You will not regret the food journey you go on. Until next time Rocco!!!!!
A wonderful experience, came here in April of 2023 for my birthday with my mom. The service was incredible and the food was ridiculously well made. Price was way more reasonable than places of lesser quality. And the vibe was warm and friendly. Will be coming here again.
If you want a romantic "Lady and the Tramp" meatball-sharing experience, this is the place to be. Everything from the music and lighting to the staff and food was perfect. Our waiter amazed us with his extensive recollection of the day's specials, we couldn't believe he remembered all those dishes!
I came here tonite for a private event dinner for the first time
The whole restaurant is warm , pleasant and peaceful
The waiters were very friendly and attentive - constantly filling the water glasses and asking if we needed anything
They served a continuous abundance of baskets of warm pita bread wedges with dishes of some type of thick salsa or paste which was heavenly !
For appetizers they served tomato and mozzarella slices with basil and balsamic vinegar , also Eggplant Rollatini and Calamari( which I didn’t eat as I’m not a fish eater but it smelled great!)
Then they served us a huge dish of Rigatoni
My main course I had chicken with mushrooms and spinach
The food was hot and tasted excellent
The flavors just awesome !
I will definately be coming back here for dinner !!
My wife and I had a great evening here for our anniversary. We had been here before and really enjoyed it, we had talked about coming back and tonight we did. Once again the food was amazing we had four separate dishes. We had a wonderful waiter who thoughtfully brought us an a drink to toast to at desert. We will be back and highly recommend Trattoria L'incontro to all.
