This is THE place to get arepas. I have searched near and far for arepas that come close but nothing has yet since the discovery of this gem 5 yrs ago.
Absolute favorite arepa is the pollo mechado drenched in green sauce and spicy sauce.
Fave meal is the pabellon Camarones.
I love this place!
Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious. Great portions and a diverse selection on the menu. Will return.
Whenever we are in Astoria, we try to eat here. Although we live in a neighborhood with an arepas place on every corner, nothing compares to Arepas Cafe. We are vegans, and I am gluten-sensitive, so the vegan option is perfect. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it. The place can be crowded and noisy inside, but it is okay. They had tables outside even before the pandemic, which is a good option on a nice day.
Authentic Venezuelan Food. Fried Yuca with the green sauce is favorable. You won’t regret if you order any arepa, they all taste good.
The restaurant is not super big but normally, you don’t need to wait on a weekend afternoon.
They also offer Chicha (a nonalcoholic drink).
Authentic Venezuelan food made with quality ingredients and love. A friend of ours brought some "Hallacas and Pan de Jamón " that were absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place!
When it comes to Venezuelan food, Arepas Cafe does not disappoint. I would recommend to start with their “Sample Platter” which will give you a taste of all their appetizers. The "Parrilla Super Mix" is a must-try dish that will blow your mind with a combination of flavors from the tender chicken, juicy shrimp, and steak. If you're a fan of arepas, you'll love their "Pollo Mechado" – the perfect combination of juicy, shredded chicken and fresh toppings. And don't forget to try their "Cachapas" with shredded chicken, which are to die for.
To top it off, Arepas Cafe has got you covered with their Passion Fruit mimosa, this drink will elevate your dining experience to the next level.
Overall, Arepas Cafe is a must-visit restaurant for anyone who loves great food, cozy atmosphere, and exceptional service. With its welcoming vibe and outstanding dishes, this restaurant will quickly become your new favorite spot.
Best Venezuelan restaurant I have ever been to. Perhaps you can try various food, but I would go straight to their Patacon. It’s basically a sandwich made with fried plantain crust topped with cheese, avocado, and your desired protein options; chicken, beef, etc, none ever goes wrong really.
One of the most authentic Venezuelan restaurants in nyc. I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl and the food is always super comforting and delicious. It’s reasonably priced and the portions are big. One arepa is enough for me, the cachapa though is one of my favorite dishes ever, but it’s always so much food so I try to reserve that for days when I’m really craving it lol
Lovely gem in Astoria. Delicious Venezuelan food and great drinks as well. Service is good and the location is cozy. Try the sangria.
Always super solid, friendly place with good portions. Delicious!
Hands down, the best Arepas that you’ll find in NYC. This place might be a little far from the city but well worth the commute. They have over 20 Arepas options as well as a bunch of other meals you can choose from. The chichas, which is a sweet drink, is so good and made me want to order another. Can’t wait to come back soon!
I have been here many times in the past few years and always enjoy the food here. The quality in service and food is exceptional. However this last time was disappointing as they must have been running out of the "cold chicken salad" used in the "Reina" arepa cause they only filled the arepa halfway. These are usually packed with food but came up a little empty today. I'm still giving 4 stars based on prior experiences but hope this was a mistake and doesn't continue to happen. The prices have gone up slightly over the years (fine, that's life) but hope not to sacrifice food portions for it. My friend got the patacón which was the typical big portion and super tasty.
Their arepas are large and filling, and very tasty! My partner and I got one each and shared yucca fries and it was more than enough food for us both.
Very authentic Venezuelan place with yummy arepas . The good thing about arepas is that they are made of corn flour so they’re gluten free. I got one with beef and one with chicken and I like both with the preference for the one with the beef and Gouda cheese . Music was on point and service was great. Can’t wait to go back .
Honestly, the best arepas rellenas I’ve ever tried!
Their passion fruit juice is amazing and cachapas are hugeeeee!
Always leave this place with a happy stomach!
The music is very loud at least at night when I usually go.
Service is so good and atmosphere is very homey.
