Always love to support locals business. I have been coming here for years. The food is always good and fresh. I would say this is the best sushi spot in Queens.
An elevated sushi restaurant with very attentive waitstaff. Great spot to go with friends and split the sushi or sashimi platters. The spicy tuna roll at Kondo is hands down my favorite and although it might be off menu, ask for the fish collar with ponzu sauce which is simple and delicious.
I usually get takeout. The sushi and sashimi are very good. The fish is very fresh, and it's very authentic Japanese food. I especially like Uni, Toro and Ikura! I find the portion a bit small, and the price a bit expensive. There's a Japanese supermarket next to the restaurant, which is very convenient.
I've been there a few times now and every time I like it more. Kondo is quickly becoming my favorite place for dinner in Astoria. The staff is always very kind and welcoming. The food is always exceptional. Straightforward plus some fun stuff on the specials list. Last week I had monkfish liver for the first time (yummy!) and the best squid of my life. The mushroom soup was divine.
Went to Kondo today and sat outside for a nice dinner. The staff was pleasant and was quick to bring out our food and refill our water.
The food was all fresh and tasty. Had a mix of things, tempura, sushi, scallops, and more.
Everything was prepared very well and really hit the spot. There wasn't anything to detract from the meal save for a few errant passing motorcycles.
A very good place to go for Japanese cuisine.
Kondo gives a true authentic Japanese experience. The restaurant is unassuming from the outside and very simple in decoration. The sushi and sashimi are also simple but absolutely delicious. The fish is extremely fresh and there’s a nice selection of appetizers like mushroom and scallop (in photo) I think this is the best sushi place in Astoria and maybe the best in Queens. The place does get crowded so it’s a good idea to get reservations.
The food was absolutely amazing. So fresh, so unique, and so reasonably priced! I absolutely want to return more than once to try everything on their menu. Pretty busy on a Sunday evening also! The service is also perfect. Had an amazing dinner.
Kondo offers fresh and delicious sushi any day of the week. Our favorite is the spicy tuna crunch. We occasionally try new things and are never disappointed. Their deserts are also great! Make sure to try their Green Tea Parfait. We love the staff. They are very friendly. This is possibly the best sushi place in Astoria.
Great place to see if you like Japanese food, sushi and sake (its serves in glasses, full glasses). Always fresh and tasty, ask for special menu, really interesting offers!
This place is always on point! Perfect food and service!! Very sophisticated and tradicional Japanese food and super yummy drinks! Arigato! ❤️🍱
SO DELICIOUS. The sushi i had there was just like the sushi I had in Kyoto. If you like or are curious about Japanese food come here. The cooked dishes were great also
The food was fresh for the most part. I feel like you can get the same quality and portions for a better price elsewhere but overall the experience was pretty good!
Fresh items, kind and knowledgeable staff, and great atmosphere. Definitely will be back
Pleasant dinner, the fish was very fresh and most importantly the rice was cooked perfectly. The salmon teriyaki was perfectly seasoned and grilled.
Also, we tried the desert Almonds Tofu and that was tasty. Not too sweet.
We'll probably go back sometime later.
Quality of the fish is always great. Fresh and simple, with good interesting specials. Lunch special is a great deal for the level of sushi quality.
Lots of space between tables and throughout the restaurant. My two friends are sushi connaisseurs (I'm not) and we all noted how FRESH the SEA URCHIN was, top notch. The service was very friendly and efficient. The rest of the food (sushi, sashimi, tempura) was alas nothing special. I'll return just for the urchin!
The staff were incredibly friendly and polite. It's a true Japanese establishment with good vibes and good service. The sushi was very good. 4 stars just because there wasn't more of a selection, but otherwise it was good and filling.
Favorite authentic Japanese restaurant in Astoria. Definitely try the Green tea parfait.
