This particular restaurant is cozy and pretty, in a street filled with other places I would recommend this one. Food is amazing, we took a lot of what's left and had an incredible lunch at home the next day. Everything I tried was delicious.
Had prix fix menu here. The appetizers were great like chicken samosa and lamb roll. The main dishes were also nice like chicken korma, chicken rogan josh and chicken tikka masala. The kheer and the mango lassi were also great. Awesome ambience.
This is my first time visiting Seva and it was a good experience. The restaurant itself is small but it wasn't uncomfortable where you didn't feel as though you were sitting on top of each other. The restaurant had dim lights and the music was low, a nice place to have a quiet meal. The staff was so kind and attentive so you're definitely getting quality service.
We ordered the sampler platter which included: chicken samosa, vegetable samosa, lamb spring rolls, & pakora. We also ordered butternut squash soup. For our entrées I ordered chicken tikka masala & my friend ordered chicken saag. Basmati rice came with both chicken entrées. And we of course couldn't forget the garlic naan.
Appetizers
Chicken & Vegetable samosa-both of these were very flavorful. They're also so filling.
Lamb spring rolls-Tasty, the lamb filling was packed with flavor but there was too much filling, kind of overwhelming.
Pakora-Never had this before but boy was I happy I was able to try it. It was fried cauliflower & onions. Delicious!
Butternut Squash Soup-Was not a fan of this dish, it was too sweet for my liking & was really thick. Only had one spoon.
Entrées
Chicken Tikka Masala-Chicken was delicious and marinated perfectly & the sauce is so so good.
Chicken Saag-Chicken was okay with the spinach but I rather the Chicken Tikka Masala.
Will definitely wanna come back, low key restaurant with quality food & service!

I'm not a vegetarian, but I honestly love the vegetarian options at this place to the point that I don't bother with meat dishes (although I'm sure they are awesome too). Even better, the pre fix menu is worth the price - 3 courses for $15, and each course is legitimately excellent. I recommend Seva for anyone new to Indian cuisine as well, because the pre fix menu allows one to pick a lot of different options to experience Indian food rightfully. I've tried a few other Indian places on my trips to NYC but Seva is just head and shoulders above. Been there 3 times and have had excellent meals each time. My friends attest to the consistency as well. I hope to go back soon!
Whether you are hungry after a wild and crazy Friday night or just craving a delicious Indian meal, dining at the all-you-can-eat $10.95 weekend lunch buffet at Seva Indian Cuisine is a perfect way to start your weekend. Seva offers bottomless portions of Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Samosas, Naan, and a variety of other Indian dishes. While those who are sensitive to spicy food (myself included) should think twice before consuming the Samosas, the majority of the cuisine featured in the buffet is mild and not too hot.
In order to ensure a filling and comfortable brunch experience, you should arrive as close to noon as possible. The brunch runs until 3:00 PM on the weekends, but the food starts to shrink in volume as the afternoon progresses. I arrived at 2:30 once and was disappointed by the paucity of the remaining portions. Furthermore, Seva offers a limited seating area, and the place becomes increasingly packed on the weekends during the mid-afternoon hours.
I can only attest to the quality of Seva's brunch, as I have not yet dined at Seva outside of the brunch buffet hours. However, Seva has quickly become one of my favorite culinary destinations, a tasty paradise located in the heart of Astoria.
Yummy dishes, perfect amount of spicy but I have 1 huge complaint: $3 NAAN?! WTF??? naan shouldn't be more than $1.50 tops
We love this place! Be sure to try the Lamb Spring Rolls.
Favorite place, never disappoints. My boyfriend and I LOVE Seva. We eat it at least once every two weeks, and it has never once disappointed us (food and service).
The selection of na'an is amazing, and they are all good. Veggie Samosas - YUM. The bok choy blossom is very greasy, but absolutely delicious; they are an experience to try. The butternut squash soup and the mulligatawny are both quite tasty if you are soup fan. The chicken entrees we've tried were excellent. Never varies from order to order... (had a big problem with dishes varying at the last place we went to.)
...And the people there are always courteous and always acknowledge and recognize us.
Seva - fine value. At Seva , we have had vegetarian lunch specials twice. The food is fresh and tasty and enough to take some home (I like to eat moderate). The soup, part of the lunch, is superb, both the squash and mulligatwany. The main courses are simply very, very good, with the tamarind and mint sauces on the side. Maybe a smidgen too much rice, yet it is good, dunno if it is basmati or what. Salad, as in Indian restaurants in general, is a missing link.
I got a bit of a :) from the negative reviews, like folks really like the over-cooked simmering mass of Indian buffets that mushroom over Queens and Nassau.
Good service, not overbearing or annoying, one waiter was Tibetan.
A fine lunch for about $8, maybe you add a paratha or desert.
Shalom,
Steven Avery
The food is good.not too pricey. The resturant itself is really small and missing that cultural feel. But def worth checking this place out for the price!
It's OK. They have a $12 prix fixe dinner that includes appetizer, entree, and dessert which is pretty nice. However, their rice always tastes like it was prepared way in advance and the desserts followed suit. Not a bad choice for cheap Indian, but not standout either.
The food at Seva was very good. However, I can’t tell you the difference between good and bad Indian food so my opinion is probably not worth much here. I can say that Seva has been noted by numerous people as one of the top Indian restaurants in the area and with inexpensive prices and an overly friendly and enthusiastic staff, I can see why people continue to come back. I loved the personal attention we were given while we ate and if we needed anything a waiter was quickly scurrying over to our table to offer his assistance. On our way out the manager shook both of our hands enthusiastically thanking us for dining with them – this stands out in my mind as something you don’t get at many restaurants anymore. The food was average (I think) but the personal touch and service are going to keep me coming back.
In Indian, the word seva means selfless service or work offered to God. It might seem like quite a lofty name for a restaurant, but considering the important role religion plays throughout Indian culture, including cuisine, it also seems somehow appropria
5 star restaurant hands down! Highly recommend the $15 lunch special every week day. I got the vegan chickpea bowl and my boyfriend got the chicken yogurt sauce dish, it was so good I highly recommend that one if you are able to eat dairy, highly recommend the butternut squash soup. Servers are very respectful and attentive. Definitely a gem and will return. Vegan and gluten free friendly.
INCREDIBLE INDIAN FOOD!! This place has everything you’d want and the service is very good. We went for the lunch specials, where you can get a giant samosa or a soup + and entree for $15. Great deal. Very large naan. We are excited to come back!
Went for the lunch special which is $15. Food was delicious, service was good, and the vibes of the restaurant was great. I liked how the music wasn’t too loud. Interior is beautiful. Every bite I took of this meal was perfection. I was too scared to try vindaloo this time but will definitely do so next time! Can’t wait to be back!!
One of the better Indian restaurants in the area and a personal favorite. Everything was delicious and decently priced - you can get 3 courses for $25. The naan was perfect as well as their paneer. Can’t wait to come back and try out more of there options since they offer a lot!
Incredible authentic Indian food!! We got the Navarattan Korma and Chicken Korma with Garlic nan. All very tasty! The staff was very friendly as well. Coming back again soon!
Amazing Indian food! The service was excellent and prices were reasonable. The menu offered lots of different dishes and portions were generous. Highly recommend!
I forgot that I came here once before a little over 7 years ago - I loved the food then, and loved it all over again. I unintentionally got the same thing (Baigan Bhartha) but apparently enjoyed it just as much as I did last time. It has a nice slow kick even though it was "regular" (i.e. least spicy), but it wasn't overwhelming and the various spices came through nicely.
I also had their butternut squash soup which was divine! Very smooth, lightly sweet from the butternut squash, but balanced with with savory spices but especially the caraway seeds that were sprinkled on top. An excellent flavor profile. I couldn't eat all the soup at the beginning of the meal because it was actually almost too hot to eat. But halfway through eating my main entree, I was able to finish the soup and it tasted so good in between bites of the Baigan Bhartha.
The boyfriend also thoroughly enjoyed his Lamb Korma. We were both very satisfied with our meal, and we both had at least half of our entrees as leftovers. Letting those herbs and spices marinate together even longer made for delicious leftovers.
They very clearly indicate on their menu which items are vegan. Most of the entrees are by default gluten-free, but there were not many breads or appetizers that were gluten-free aside from the soups.
This place doesn’t have any unique Indian food items but good for regular Indian food. We got the saag paneer and lamb vindaloo. Lamb vindaloo was spicy but good!
Glad to have found this place as we were deciding on where to eat while walking down the strip of many many options to dine. The pleasant interior and big windows immediately drew us in-- and the fact that Indian cuisine never disappoints ;)
We selected from the 3-course Prix Fix menu that included an appetizer, main course and dessert of your choice. I ordered the Lamp Spring Roll, Vegetable Tikka Masala with basmati rice, and Kheer to end the delicious meal. I really enjoyed the crispy, lamb roll which tasted very fresh and well seasoned. It's an easy recommend in my books.
As for my sister, she ordered the Chicken Samosa, Aloo Gobi Matar with rice, and Gulab Jamun. She recommends getting the samosa and the sweet honey dessert ball. The Aloo was good, but flavor-wise, was quite monotonous compared to the well-liked Masala we know it for. Although we both ordered regular spice and the dishes were not noticeably spicy at first, the spice did slowly creep up on us. Thankfully, our server was attentive and made sure our glasses were full at all times.
This is definitely the go-to Indian fare for the locals and visitors!
Best Indian food in Astoria. Great prices, excellent portions, and I can’t tell you how friendly the staff is. I’m so grateful to have Seva in the neighborhood. I’ll never go anywhere else when I need the best samosa I’ve ever had!
Fantastic food, friendly service, and honestly just a very satisfying dining experience. The level of quality you get for the price is incredible.
The workers were so nice! Great service and lively location! Nice selection of Indian food and drinks, although I wish they had masala chai. Everything we had was delicious! I’ll definitely go back when I visit Queens again. 🍛
We got the Butternut Squash soup, Chicken Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Laag & Mango Lassi. It was my gf and I’s first time eating Indian cuisine and it did not disappoint. Waiters were very attentive and it was very affordable at $15-20 per person. Will definitely be back for more. We will be back to support this business.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Astoria. Staff is on point, seriously, they fill your glass every time you put it down. Tiki masala was spot on so we're the veg & chicken simosas. Wasn't a huge fan of the cheese or dumpling deserts. Mango lassi was nice though. Strongly suggest the pre fixed menu to try a few different things.
We went to Seva at a new location, and we enjoyed the ambiance. The food was awesome, and the service was great. Will go back again, service was great.
Definitely the best Indian food in Astoria, feels like a spot that’s always packed, and compares in quality and flavor to what you can find in Jackson Heights. Food came out fast, tender, flavorful, and fresh. Love this spot!
Absolutely phenomenal on every front. Chicken tikka was amazing. Service was great. The water was the perfect temperature (weird note, but it was great). Rice comes with entrees, so price wasn’t bad, and the garlic naan rocked. $15 lunch special means I’ll probably be back soon.
