The most amazingly delicious and fresh fish that I've tasted in a long while, in a very welcoming atmosphere and provided by a super nice owner. We were delighted with the smoked oysters, salmon, pickled rockfish and poke. We cannot wait to return and highly recommend to anyone who wants some high quality seafood!! Yet another reason we are delighted to call Astoria home.
The smoked black Cod is wonderful! And the salmon dip is super tasty!
We love everything here. Especially the Calamari and clam chowder. The Calamari are always lightly crispy and all the way tender. The chowder is, without a doubt, some of the best ANYWHERE on the coast, and in my opinion, there isn't even a close second. I had the fried oyster plate for the first time, and I was not disappointed. The oysters are huge, and you get 6 crispy yet delicately tender oysters. I was so stuffed I had to leave one on my plate. Sad. lol
Bouy Cream Ale was so clean and refreshing. A GREAT beer!
We've been coming here for 6 years now and have never been disappointed. The family that owns and runs this establishment genuinely cares about the quality of the food. The only downside is that they are closed Sun-Tues.

Very good seafood for a reasonable price!
We dropped in as we were driving through Astoria.
To start with, we tried their Dungeness Crab Cocktail which tasted very fresh with a hint of sweetness to the meat, and Oyster Shooters, which were fresh and juicy and much larger than we expected. Their cocktail sauce is outstanding! We were dipping our fries in this later on.
For mains, we ordered their Prawns & Chips and Rockfish & Chips. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions here. The prawns were very meaty and the Rockfish was dense, similar to the consistency of halibut.
If you like seafood, I’d recommend visiting!
I had the Banh Mi with Petrale Sole and it was great! My daughter got the fry bread with black cod. Bread was cooked perfectly, crisp on the outside soft on the inside. Has a Smokey flavor. The chowder is great, too!
Order at the entrance and then they seat you.
The fried oysters were so chunky, juicy, crunchy, airy. Yum just so fresh and tasty. The cocktail sauce was great , not a fan at all and typically avoid. This one was heavy on the horseradish!
The owner was really nice , you can feel the love and energy put into this place.

This place is definitely a happening little place to be. Seems the locals know it well. It’s busy, but definitely worth the wait! We had Rock fish tacos and the Rock fish and chips. For an appetizer we enjoyed the Calamari, which was as tender as the fish. Great Job to the entire establishment for service and food! Hands down one of the best in the entire state of Oregon.
Easy to find, well decorated w local photos, great lighting. Great fun to watch the chefs prepare food while waiting to order and be seated. Had the rockfish fish tacos; not as good as I was expecting, fish was unimpressive w bland seasoning. Lots of coleslaw, tomatoes, and cojota cheese toppings, corn tacos were slightly crispy and tasty.
South Bay services the best seafood I’ve had around Astoria. We had crab cakes with a chipotle aioli dipping sauce and an oyster chimichuri special. All caught and made in house. Great job team!
Overall I was definitely not disappointed.
Food was cooked very well. High quality ingredients.
Location was small but comfortable.
I would have only liked to have more table service.
Ok listen - GET THE DAMN FRYBREAD!! this was the best food I had in Astoria. It is fried but not at all heavy - the greens, peppers and other additions make it wonderfully light. You could share it, but I wouldn’t recommend it. 😊
Oh my ! The clam chowder was amazing ! The fish n chips were fabulous 😊 Highly recommend
This place was fantastic, the people here were super nice and the food was amazing. Literally the best fish and chips I've ever had.
There's also a cool little art piece on the side of the building that projects the historical ads from when the building was built.
Wonderful experience. Really fresh seafood. My favorite dish was calamari, it was fresh , not chewy at all. We had fish and chips too and I give extra credit for fries , they were thick but crispy and not burnt! If they have cocktails to match with food and AC ( it was little war inside) I would give them 5 star but for now 4⭐️.
We had rock fish n chips along with fried oysters in chips. Cocktail sauce just the way we like it with lots of horseradish!Expertly fried and absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.
We had the fish & chips. High quality food products. Was confused what to do when entering the place. You were told to wait to be seated, but you ordered at the hostess station & pay before you got seated. Then, they expected you to tip like it was full-service. The staff was friendly, but overwhelmed with a small rush of people. I felt sorry the the lady who was taking the orders, she went to help in the open kitchen after orders were place. My Mom loved their clam chowder!
Awesome family owned local restaurant! We got the rockfish tacos and rockfish & chips and both were great!
Beer comes with an ice-cold glass. It's a great way to start a meal. They allow you to substitute chips for chowder or salad! Good food, excellent service, and atmosphere. It's a must-stop in a cool town.

I went in looking for clam chowder. Found that, and steamer clams. I'm super picky about my seafood, and this was some of the best clam chowder!! So delicious! The steamers were super awesome, too..I got a huge portion! Buttery garlicky clams were perfect. I'm super full, and very happy. The people were super nice, too. Very friendly. Definitely going to be swinging back by here next trip to Astoria.
I asked a local where to eat and South Bay Wild Fish was their recommendation. We had their rockfish with coleslaw, clam chowder, and the fish tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious. The service was quick and friendly. We will definitely be back!
This place has some good things, odd things... Not a fan of the pay and tip beforehand then sit and then they wait on you. It's just weird. The young hostess was clearly fried. Either exhausted or high. Probably burnt from lack of staff, which we won't hold against them. There was an older lady and man helping with running food and checking on tables, very nice. My husband just said the Oysters were okay. Not mind blowing like he was expecting from reviews. Hated that they are served in the cocktail sauce not on the shell. His salmon fish and chips were good. We both liked them. Would order again. The Fries... Meh, no awards. Our kids chicken strips were shockingly delicious! For a kids chicken strips. So good! I had the crab on fry bread. High and low points. Not enough crab to even call it a crab dish, that was disappointing. The greens and ceviche combo was okay. Skip the goat cheese one. The fry bread though. They nailed it. It was made perfect. The atmosphere of the place was very good. Cute decor. Bathroom needed help. Overall, a 4 star, would go again.
