Went there yesterday for late lunch / early dinner. The hostess was gorgeous and incredibly kind, quite lovely — I am sure she is responsible for a majority of repeat customers. Who fall in love with the ribs and her professional manner. Oh the ribs yes they were quite tasty. Great smokey flavor and smothered with BBQ sauce that was some of the best sauce I have ever had. The baked beans were tasty, but maybe a tad over cooked. I love small one of a kind restaurants like Fat Matt’s — all the staff were gracious and welcoming. Ambiance was delightful and perfect. Old family recipes and cooking philosophy. Food was lip smacking good.
Wow, let me start by saying that I'm not usually a big fan of ribs because, as you mentioned, there's often hardly any meat on them. But the ribs from Fat Matt's completely exceeded my expectations!
And the surprise didn't stop there – they have the BEST MACARONI I've ever had! Seriously, a delightful revelation for my taste buds.
You definitely get what you pay for, and then some at Fat Matt's. Not only is the food fantastic, but the atmosphere is incredible. The cook there is a true gem; he knows how to create a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone, making people laugh and feel right at home.
Fat Matt's Rib Shack is undoubtedly the go-to spot for authentic BBQ. Please, do not sleep on this place – it's a hidden treasure you need to discover!

I love Fat Matt's!! It's usually a line when you go. I think this was the 1st time I'm ever been with no line. Even when a line and a packed building, the food comes out pretty quick! The staff is always super nice. The food is always amazing! The atmosphere is so family oriented and laid back no matter what time you arrive!
Hole in the wall BBQ and blues music place. Great BBQ. The collard greens are some of the best I’ve ever had. They have a small stage in side. Not sure if it’s every night but from the looks of the schedule on the door they have live music most nights. The only negative about this place is the parking. There is only 15 spots if that and not a lot of options if the lot is full. I would recommend you Uber or Lyft there. Oh and try the sweet potato pie.
This place is the real deal. Walked into a piece of history. Really incredible ribs and great vibes. Affordable too! Small town right at home vibes in the middle of the city. Can’t wait to come back!
Let’s get to it. First time here. I set my expectations high just because of the name. A name like Fat Matt’s the Q has to be good right? The Q was amazing. These guys know what they doing. I had the rib sandwich, macaroni and cheese and potato salad. Ribs was perfectly tender just the right amount of smoke. Macaroni and cheese with the potato salad was on point. Service was fast. From taking my order to food at my table took about 5 quick minutes. I can tell Fat Matt’s take pride in their work. I will return.
The food is good. Not a lot of veggie/vegan options though. The atmosphere is really friendly as is the staff. Service is great. They have live music Thursday-Sunday I believe. Every time I’ve been the music has been great. I recommend.
Team was amazing! They run circles around other local spots like this. Btw food and draft selection was on point. Great pleace for a quick lunch, small bite, and good flavor.

I loooove Fat Matt’s. They are literally the best ribs I have ever had. They fall off the bone and have an amazing flavor. I also really enjoy the atmosphere. It’s a ‘no-frills’ kind of place but has so much character. The service is always fantastic, the foods amazing, and I am always glad I came. Definitely recommend.
This is a real cool place. The vibe is dope. We ordered a slab of ribs a side of greens and Mac and cheese. The ribs were so good and tender. I wasn't a fan of the greens and the Mac and cheese is just ok. They have live music I believe Wednesday through Sunday I'm not sure but I'll go back to see. The music is a great vibe!

This was my go to rib house when I lived in ATL, and if I’m ever in town more than a few hours, it’s on my must eat list.
I enjoyed my food and ate every last bite.
I got the rib sandwich, baked beans, mac and sweet potato pie.
I really rebooted the baked beans they were sweet and tangy. The ribs were good as well, very tender and fall of the bones but were unfortunately smaller than I would like.
The mac was a little different, not like super creamy but was good to me.
The pie, it was something about it that I didn’t like but it was not like the pie was horrible. Something in the dairy, maybe used condensed milk or something like. Would’ve like it more firm than custard like.
Nevertheless I would be back to try other things and would recommend to try it at least once
BEST RIBS OF LIFE. Was passing through Atlanta and asked a local friend for best bbq recco - can’t thank him enough for suggesting Fat Matt’s! Ordered via Uber Eats and it was mega delicious. Never had ribs so tender and juicy and flavourful anywhere. Rum baked beans so tasty too!
