Lovely setting but slow service for lunch. The steak salad was good but not great. Daddy had the horseradish encrusted grouper and loved it. The lobster risotto and truffle mashed potatoes were excellent. I would definitely visit again although I think it’s pricey and the quality could be elevated.
Fantastic scenery overlooking the Chattahoochee River, great wine list but a pricy menu. They also have a location downtown called Rays in the City.
Wonderful!! Impeccable service, starting as soon as you arrive! It was raining and the valet came to our car with a huge umbrella! The menu includes fresh fish and aged beef options (and vegetarian options). Perfect for an intimate dinner or group special event.
The cold seafood appetizer is amazing. Try also the horseradish crusted grouper.
Excellent service and wonderful ambience
This was my first visit to Ray's, but it will be a must visit every time I'm back in town.
A Great Night. Had another great night at Ray's on the River...the menu isn't as inventive as Canoe but the live music and exceptional service (thanks, Amanda!) make up for that. Enjoyed the chopped salad, spicy black eyed pea soup with pork belly croutons and lemon cheesecake with raspberry coulis. All delicious. Setting is beautiful. Comfortable but romantic. A great special occasion place or just a nice Saturday night out.
Great Sunday Brunch. My Wife , Son, and Daughter-in-Law went to Ray's on the River earlier today for Sunday Brunch. It was a most enjoyable time with good food, good service and a great view of the Chattahoochee River.
The Sunday Brunch is predominately an all you can eat buffet and a very extensive buffet it is. Can't speak for everyone else but I had prime rib, shrimp, mussels, Eggs Benedict, Quiche Lorraine, Smoke Salmon, Stone Crab and more and even then, I only got to sample about a third of the items offered. For deserts, Cheese Blintz with Raspberry Sauce is very good and the NY Style Cheesecake is probably the best I have found in the Atlanta area.
For price and quality, this rivals anything you will find on the strip district in Vegas and right off of I-285 North just east of I-75.
Not cheap but again you get what you pay for and this is definately well worth the price. Arrive early, arrive hungry, be prepared to experience a variety of culinary delights and you will find, it's definately well worth the experience.
OUTSTANDING!!. I absolutely love this restaurant, The valet parking attendants were very gracious and went out of their way to help my elderly dinner companion out of the car, without rushing us. They made sure that we were underneath the canopy as the ground was wet and they wanted to make sure that my dinner companion did not slip on the wet pavement. I had called ahead and made reservations so that we would be able to have the best view of the river and the hostess walked with us rather then ahead of us as some do. She wanted to keep pace with us and made it a point to have conversation on the way to our table. The waiter was very considerate and let us order a dish they serve that is not on the lunch menu. he was very attentive and came back several times to make sure that we were satisfied with our selection. THE FOOD! absolutely superb! The Salmon Oscar is so delicious that even when you get full you are unable to stop eating because it is so flavorful! This is definitely a wonderful place for a dinner for two and they have the ability to handle large groups with ease as well. I highly recommend Rays and can hardly wait for my next time there!
We went for Sunday brunch and boy let me tell you, the food was soooo good! Our server was great and they have a huge selection of food to choose from. It's a bit pricier than we expected but we had a great experience so it was worth it to us. The only thing I would complain about is that it's not advertised that there's a business casual dress code and we walked in with our "travel clothes" on and had to go back to the car to change. Then once we were seated we saw people walking around in jeans and t-shirts. Wasn't sure why we couldn't just eat in what we had on then, but either way it was a fantastic experience otherwise.
Easter Buffet was great. I was very stuffed after the Easter Buffet because I wanted to try everything. They had Mussles, Whisky Pork, Swordfish, Lamb, Prime Rib, Salmon, Glazed Ham and a ton more stuff too. About half the dishes were phenomenal and the other half were just ok but with all those offerings you can have an amazing meal there. I will be back.
Every time I have been to Ray's I have had a fabulous experience. Awesome food flavor and presentation. Great service and delightful atmosphere and scenery. Excellent place for any kind of gathering, date, meeting, family or social experience.
Awesome. Fish is always fresh!! Love the atmosphere..
We love Rays on the River and make it our choice anytime we are in Atlanta. We have only experienced the Sunday buffet.... overwhelmingly AWESOME!! How can it be described... fresh waffles, salads you have never thought of, Mimosas, omelets with all the additions created right in front of you, bottomless bowl of fresh shrimp and often seasonal variations added to the buffet table, and my favorite... Rays own variation on Eggs Benedict with capers and lox(salmon)!!! Oh... my... HEAVENS!!!! The view is gorgeous and the atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing. The wait staff do not hurry you along and wisk you out as you are still savoring your last bite (pet peeve). However, I agree that the offering of beverage refills is somewhat lacking (this is an industry-wide faux pas) but we all have a voice so just ask. In defense of the wait staff, I have the impression that they are harried and pushing to give service, not chit-chat. Every time we have been, the place has been PACKED!! If you hate to wait, reservations are an absolute MUST for the Sunday brunch!
WOW!. My friends and I decided to try somewhere different for Friday night get together. ROTR was an excellent choice. Beautiful garden setting on the river, excellent food and service. Great drinks and live music. Yummy desserts. We had a great time and we will be back.
It all came together here.... The live jazz, great service, great food and a river outside the window all worked together to make a lovely evening. The waiter was great in helping us pick out some of the better dishes. We had the scallops on risotto and grouper, if you are curious. On the expensive side, but sometimes you need something that ju8st hits the spot.
Perfect!!!. I've been here at least 5 times with large groups. Everything is always perfect. Great service, great food, and great time for all. Seafood and steak both rock!!!
Fresh Fish. I have been to Ray's many times and it is always good, as long as you stick to the basic fresh fish dishes. The other more inventive items and land going fare is fine, but the sauces and ingredients sometimes mask the fish/chicken/meat. Their simple grilled or sauteed fish is full of flavor and the sauce comes on the side so you can dtermine how much to add. They get their fish flown in twice daily and it's stored in aspecial cooler so it's never frozen. They usualyy have at least 7-10 varieties to choose from, and the scallops are also a nice choice. The restuarant itself is rather large with a spacious lounge area and private dining rooms. If you go during daylight hours be sure and request a window seat or a seat with a river view, as this is what makes this place a little different from the other seafood joints. It is a little pricey, but you have to remember what you're paying for; if you want reviously frozen, farm raised tilapia for $7 then maybe Red Lobster would be more to your liking...

My wife and I love this place! Go in the evenings-- the food and service is excellent. Depending on where in the restaurant you are seated, the dining experience will be completely different. Let the hostess know if you want a quite table, or if you want to be near the entertainment. Good food, good music, great times...
Two words. Sunday brunch!
Absolutely wonderful! From server to food. Have been many times before & will enjoy many more meals with friends. The $35 specials are so good, as are the wine specials. Will be back soon!
Great for brunch. Omelette station is good. wide selection of salads and breakfast items. also has lunch selections. good restaurant for seafood lovers. nice romantic setting w a view overlooking the river.
Yeah, "OK" about sums it up.. I have to say that I went for lunch, so take that in to account. I have a feeling this place shines during dinner service, so I'll gladly revise my review if I go back after 5pm.
The place itself is great, but a tad bit sterile. It's not welcoming at first glance - more like a nicely decorated OR. I prefer warm colors, fabrics, furniture, etc. and this place was visually, literally, a sea of grey and hard surfaces.
I sat at the bar and my server/bartender was very attentive and kind (even though he talked about how much he loved Bill O'Reily and Shaun Hannity). Regardless, he was on top of things and service was top-notch.
Started with the fried green tomatoes which were very tasty and quick - they literally came out about 2 minutes after I ordered them. Makes me think they were zapped or premade? They didn't taste like either, so it was fine with me.
Moved on to the special which was fish and chips - delicious. The cod was flakey, light, tasty. The fries were crispy, housemade, gone.
Got out for less that $25 which really surprised me. I thought it would be much more expensive, so kudos! But, like I said, not sure what dinner would be like.
Overall, good experience, although it felt old regardless of the age of the young hostess, server, bartender, etc. It's just one of those established places, i.e. City Grill, Bones, Chops. Maybe it has a jumpin' bar scene at night - I don't know - mature men and younger women mingling in a soup of possibility?
Bottom line - I'd go back. Glad I tried it and look forward to giving it a whirl for dinner.
Renovated. Reopen summer 2007 much improved. Food and atmosphere much improved over the old Ray's.
I came here for Easter Brunch. They had a very large buffet with some phenomenal offerings. Mussles, Whisky Pork, Swordfish, Lamb, Prime Rib, Salmon, Glazed Ham and many accompaniments to these offerings. Some of the offerings such as Prime Rib and Whiskey Pork were phenomenal.
This as the best celebratory meal I have ever hosted. My husband graduated and wanted a no fuss steakhouse. I made a reservation through OpenTable easily and was able to add in that we were celebrating a milestone. We arrived (note that there is valet available) and the decor for the holidays was beautiful. I had requested outdoor/window seating to enjoy the view of the river and the hostess made sure to review my request and accommodate accordingly. Once seated, Brianna was a lovely waitress - soft spoken and efficient. She was patient with us ordering as it was our first time. Food was delicious and arrived quickly. The steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were great sizes for sharing as well! I would definitely return for our anniversary!
We went to Ray’s on the River for our anniversary. We were seated immediately (we had reservations) our server was Connor and he was EXCELLENT! We started with the fried calamari, they didn’t over cook it, & it was delicious! Sometimes the stars align and everything just works perfectly. We had their special (flame grilled ribeye with the Oscar topping, scallops, and fried lobster tail (that was Connor’s recommendation, which turned out perfectly. My steak was supposed to be medium well, but arrived a little overcooked. However, the steak must have been aged some as it still very tender. The meal was excellent. Connor brought wine to the table, but after one sip, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to finish it. He was VERY gracious and asked if he could get me something else. I ordered the Sangria (which also wasn’t good) I did apologize (profusely) and Connor was really good natured about it. He suggested a lemon drop, which turned out to be quite good. (I thought I took a pic of it, but after checking my photos 🤷🏼♀️
Make a reservation if it's important to you to eat here, as they are seemingly always busy! We finally had the chance to eat here for our Christmas Eve Eve dinner after using OpenTable to make a reservation and got seated at a table with a view. The server was friendly and knowledgeable, and the views were gorgeous. My husband ordered his steak medium and it came out well done. He ate it rather than sending it back. The truffle fries were just okay compared to lots of others I've had and loved; I wouldn't order them again. My 13 year old son ate the lobster Mac and cheese as his meal and loved it. We'd definitely return to this specific location in the distant future.
Rays is phenomenal. 2nd time here. Make a reservation, even for a Tuesday night at 8pm..they are busy! From the food to the atmosphere..Just a great spot for date night and or celebrating a special occasion. I even proposed to my fiancee here 3 years ago! Love Rays!
Amazing experience from start to finish! The sweet bartender made us a mocktail made with fresh berries and ginger beer. She didn’t charge us for my hubby’s drink since it was his birthday, which started our dinner off to a good start. We were sat at our table and David was an amazing server with impeccable service. Dishes came out delicious and nicely presented. I still dream about the dessert that he recommended. He turned me into a Lemon Butter Cake fan! Although it was already dark outside, it was still such a beautiful view of the river glistening with all the string lights around the area. Even the valet attendants were so pleasant and nice. Huge plus for having complimentary parking. We will be back again!
The restaurant was able to accommodate our party of 12, which was a plus. The dinning room was cozy & the view was beautiful. The food was simple amazing! Great price for the amount of food.
The staff was wonderful! My family and I had an amazing time. I have no complaints. I would definitely recommend!
I am visiting family and friends in Atlanta. This place is so amazing and the food was delicious. The restaurant by the river is an amazing view. Devant e was an excellent waiter. Explain everything to us like we royalty. Chauntel was the other waitress who was sweet and kind. Also very helpful. Now to the food. I had the shrimp and grits!!! OMG, the flavor was excellent. My friend had broil seafood platter. The seasoning was fabulous. The appetizer was great as well, and the sweet potatoes were great. The dessert was delicious as well. I will be returning to eat there again.
My husband brought me here as a surprise for my 30th birthday and I couldn’t have asked for a better night! Our server Austin was attentive and spread great energy through the whole section. We were lucky enough to be seated next to another couple who we had great conversation with. The food was amazing (especially the she crab soup, trout, and espresso martini’s). We can’t wait to comeback!
We came here for anniversary and the experience was great!
I like that they have many options of oysters and describe how each of them taste like…
Appetizers and seafood are great!
The only thing that I would pick on is the grill mark on the steak. I order medium rare and some edges are quite burn to a bit bitter.
I understand it’s part of the look and plating. However, that should not affect the overall flavor of the steak..
But majority of the steak is still good.
We had a great time.
We attended a wedding reception at Ray's. The setting was very beautiful and private. All service staff were extremely friendly and the food was excellent. There were several preselected meal options available. I had the Ray's salad, 16oz Ribeye (medium). My wife had the seafood trio (lobster tail, salmon, and shrimp). Sides were Mac n cheese and seasonal vegetables.
