While I was in Atlantic City, during this past week, my friends and I wanted to eat at a restaurant inside of the Borgata Hotel Casino and Resorts. So we decided on the Old Homestead Steakhouse. Since we reserved a room for a small party, we were immediately seated on time, and in a nice private room. The servers were very attentive. The food was excellent. The dessert was well prepared and the wine and drinks were very filling and tasty.
Our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable . Tuna tartare was one of the best we have ever had! Bacon is always on point as an appetizer! NY strip was extremely tender and cooked perfectly! Lobster Mac and cheese was the icing on the cake- there were 3 huge chunks of lobster in it!
Had a great night with Gennero and Oscar as our servers. The food was fantastic. Recommend the bacon, mozzarella and peppers, and the ribeye. Sea bass was a great fish option. Porter house for 2 is enough for 3!
Best steak I’ve have!!!! It’s juicy and perfect cooked medium rare! the old homestead’s 34oz steak is a must try!!!!
Fried calamari is also in huge portion!
Beet salad was amazing as well!
We finished everything… was thinking to have a cake but we were too stuffed!
Services was amazing! This is the highlight of our trip!!!
Absolutely amazing food and the best service I have ever at any restaurant I've ever visited. It might be a hefty price but you are paying for the high-level service along with the very tentative care they give you and the quality of food is like no other sadly I have to say this gives Hell's kitchen a run for it's money
Simply fabulous. The service was beyond exceptional. Friendly, funny, polite and helpful. The food was delicious and the portions were huge. Almost too big, if there's such a thing. Everything was cooked to perfection. Definitely the best place in Borgata, if not all of Atlantic City.
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I have been a customer since since they opened this location at Borgata in 2003. Not once have I had a bad meal or bad service. This restaurant is definitely for those who know and enjoy fine dining. The waiters always take excellent care of us. We like to take our time between courses and never rush through them. The prices are perfectly fine and the portions are very generous. All our servers have been very professional, but there are two who have stood out. Larry and Rafael. If they even read these reviews, I want them to know that they do a fantastic job and I am very grateful to them for making my dining experience a memorable one.
Old Homestead in NYC is known for being Axl Rose's favorite steak house and now I know why.
Simply iconic says it all. Old Homestead is a New York City staple and it's second location in Atlantic City has all of the splendor of NYC. Literally the best steak I ever had. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and served over a rich hashbrown and a delectable glaze. I could visit here everytime I'm in AC. Just a wonderful dining experience.
Perfection. Every moment from the host seating us early for our reservation to excellent service to delicious food. They even noted the special occasion on the reservation and brought out a mini cake to celebrate (my husband’s retirement). Going here is a must for a special occasion, if you got it big on the casino floor, or if you’re just balling like that!
What can I say besides the food was delicious and the portions sizes are huge. My steak was seasoned very good and it was so tender. The crab cake was huge Worth every penny. Pam and Walter were my servers. Excellent customer service!
It was my birthday and they brought me out a delicious desert and Walter sang Happy Birthday to me.
After hearing so much positive feedbacks from my friends about this restaurant I want to give it a try. I was lucky enough to be able to get a last minute reservation to go there on Christmas Eve to have dinner with my friend.
We start off with the clams casino for appetizer. I was amazed with how big the clams turned out to be. It was very flavorful. Then for the main entree we went with the 34 oz Gotham rib steak. That steak was amazing. Definitely worth every penny. The portion was so big even with me sharing with my husband we still had leftovers which we took home and the next day we reheat it in the oven and it still taste perfect. For our sides we got the lobster Mac and cheese and cream spinach. There were huge pieces of lobster in the Mac and cheese and the spinach was cooked perfect. We had 5 people in our party and the 2 sides were big enough portions for 5 people to share.
Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. As busy as they were that night he came around quite often to check on us. And our glasses were constantly refilled. When I made the reservation I added a note that we are celebrating my friend birthday and they even surprised us with dessert. The cake was really good although I’m not sure what kind of cake it was but we greatly appreciate the personal touch. Thank you and we will definitely be back.
The food was amazing! I got the chicken Parmesan and it was the best I’ve ever had! I also tried the onion soup which was delicious and the raw oysters which were also very good. Food was presented very well. The service was super fast and friendly. The restaurant was very clean considering it was really busy. I personally would not take my kids here this seems more of a date night place. Love it and would highly recommend!
Seated on time. It was a Friday so we didn't expect to be seated early... service staff was friendly. Really helped me pick my drinks... we started with the bacon and tuna tartare... excellent choices. Porterhouse was cooked perfect medium rare but it didn't jump out to me. It was a good steak but nothing to remember. The seabass was probably the highlight of the meal. Perfectly cooked. I think it was even better than when I had a similar version at izakaya. Lobstermac and Cheese was decent but I wouldn't order it again. Brussel sprouts where deep fried?... one suggestion is do not order the mashed potatoes. If you ever tried the boxed add water/milkpotato flakes... very on par with that.
Superb restaurant. Brian managing the host stand on an extremely busy day was a total pro … professional, courteous, and also ran an efficient process. Wonderful first impression. Food was great. Nice atmosphere. Generous portions. Great service. Definitely check this place out. Will be back!
This place really surprised me; I generally have a bit of a negative perception of high end restaurants in casinos, but this one was actually worth it. The Roasted onion soup was delicious - the texture of the onions was perfect and the soup itself was extremely flavorful. The cheese and bread atop and inside the soup added a nice touch of heterogeneity to the dish, and added a ton of body to the dish - honestly, the soup itself could be eaten by itself for a whole meal, especially if you’re not too hungry.
After the soup, my family and I ordered the sea bass and rack of lamb. The rack was equally massive and delicious in parts. The meat itself was tender and perfectly cooked, with a creamy mashed potato and sauce paired with it. I’d say the only downside of the dish was a lack of vegetables, since the dish was really rich overall; however, the dish itself was flawless in flavor.
As for the Sea Bass, it truly did live up to the hype - my aunt, who ordered it, loved it. I tried it, and it literally would just melted in your mouth once you got to the flesh. The crispy top provided a nice textural contrast that prevented the dish from becoming boring. Probably one of the better fish dishes I’ve had in the East Coast, though I will admit that when I go out for seafood, I tend to go for shrimp, crab or lobster.
Altogether, the portions for the soup and rack were both much larger than anticipated, and between 3 people, we could only barely finish the majority of the side and two main dishes. The servers were fast and efficient, and made sure the experience was a positive one. Thanks again!
Here in Atlantic City this weekend celebrating my husband's 50th. We went to Old Homestead at the Borgata. The food was absolutely delicious. The rolls pictured are an onion. They do have rolls with walnuts but we passed on those being we do not like nuts. The onion soup was excellent. I highly recommend. I ordered the chicken parmesan. It comes with pasta but I substituted the garlic mash potatoes in its place. You can do any substitution at no upcharge on their side dish list with the exception of the lobster Mac and cheese. There is an upcharge for that side dish which is understandable. My husband ordered the 16 oz filet. He said it was the best he ever had. The side sauces are very, very good. Their signature steak sauce is a definite bonus. Very flavorable. It's a cross between a steak sauce and BBQ sauce. We split the brownie and Blondie Bombshell. The ice cream is Ben and Jerry's. The service was impeccable. Everyone was very nice and attentive. I give this place an A+++. If you're in Atlantic City, and want a very nice romantic dinner, I would not recommend bringing children however, I would definitely recommend. We look forward to going back.
Very nice place for a meal, but the the decor seems conflicted, somewhere between classy and contemporary. Great whiskey selection, and the bang bang shrimp appetizer was excellent. My wife has the shrimp scampi and she loved it along with the creme brulee. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and it was too sweet for my liking. Nothing against the restaurant, poor choice on my part because I didn't read the menu close enough. The had more than ample staff, Mac was our waiter and he was awesome. And between he and the other staff they were attentive, helpful and pleasant without hovering. Will definitely be back again and hopefully a better dinner choice will change this to a 5 star review.
