Reviews Emashiya Korean Bbq

Visited Emashiya with my boyfriend yesterday on a whim. We had a pretty bad experience at a different local Korean place a few months ago and, frankly, I was pretty hesitant to try this place as authentic Korean places are hard to come by.

I was so so so wrong. This food reminded me of the food my Korean friends moms used to make me growing up. it was DELICIOUS. We got chicken wings as our appetizer and he got the galbi; I got the bi bim bap. we cleaned our plates. I had to biggest smile on my face the entire meal because I couldn't stop saying how good it all was.

The service was impeccable. we had a little call button but never needed it. Our server was sweet, informative, and we could tell he had a genuine love and pride of the place he worked. I can't say enough good things about him.

We will most definitely be regulars from here on out. Emashiya is hands down the best Korean in Augusta- and this is coming from the girl that grew up with 3 Korean best friends. Try it! You won't be disappointed.

I can't speak for authenticity in Korean food.  I did, however, know someone who came into town for business and had previously lived and worked in Korea.  He made a beeline for this place based on what some others had told him about it.  The authenticity here has been confirmed by some guy you don't know, so take that for what it's worth.

It's been a little while since I've been here, but only because $15-20 entree prices make it steep to feed the family.

Because it's been a little while, I honestly can't remember what I had...I do know that I liked it.  I specifically remember trying my wife's short ribs that she got, and they were boy-howdy smack-your-Ajima good.  That salty, just a little bit sweet flavor, the tender-but-still meaty feel...Korean cooking can really make beef into magical little pieces of yum.

What really stood out, and that's saying something considering the few entrees I've tried here have been great (though I still regret not being able to remember what they were), are the banchan- the small side-dishes that come with the entrees.  They add an extra dimension to the meal with the variety; the different tastes and textures of the banchan make it seem like you got more food than you did.  My wife and I both really like kimchee, so we battle over that dish, but all of them are delightful.  Even the one I think is made out of fish- I don't like fish.

Top your meal off with some soju (really similar to sake if you've never had it), and your contentment will make the big number on the piece of paper the nice lady puts in front of you seem not so bad.

AWESOME! Best service ever. I was served within 5 minutes and the waiter was great.
He was showing us what order to eat everything in, broke down what everything was and what we would like based on preferences.

Music was awesome.

This is my new go to place.

We got several of the box meals and they were all very nice. The noodles were good, the meats were all very tasty, and all the sides were excellent. Oh, and the chicken wings were so good we had to get an extra order of them!

Good food good value. Sometimes the staff has a hard time keeping up with the demand, but that's because the place is good!

Excellent, all around. Emashiya is a favorite of ours. We typically get the box meals, alternating between the short ribs and the bulgogi, which includes a salad, cold rice noodles, 2 dumplings, 2 chicken wings, sticky vegetable rice and the main course, accompanied by as assortment of ban chan, my favorite being their kimchi cucumbers and burdock root (which they call barrow root)

The service is excellent and they have call buttons on the tables to summon someone if needed, but we haven't had to use them yet as the servers are pretty attentive. The surrounding are pretty simple but that is okay because the food more than makes up for it.

I have eaten almost every other type of food before, but never Korean until just now. I saw other spooners had recommended the spicy pork box so I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. The pork was juicy and spicy without being too hot, and the chicken wings that came with it were perfectly blackened on the outside and juicy on the inside. Delicious!

Unbelievably Good!. I'd never had Korean food before, but someone recommended Emashiya. My 14 year old daughter and I went. She got the Gal Bi Box and I the Bul Go Gi Box....and just wow. Everything was incredible. Granted it was WAY too much food for us, we would have been more than fine with just 1 box. I HIGHLY recommend this place. The service was awesome as well. Be sure to look at the online menu to check their prices, because between the 2 of us it was around $40. Not terribly expensive, but way more than she and I usually spend. Still...so freaking good.

Ugh, I love their Bulgogi! We went to a Korean BBQ restaurant (Hae Woon Dae) in the Atlanta area and it had NOTHING on Emashiya. Definitely worth the price and it's reassuring to see actual Koreans eating here!

Authentic? I wouldn't know but I know I really liked it.. Went for "lunch" with my BFF which wasn't really lunch since they don't open until 4 pm but we were out late and finally got to stop in. The reviews had me anticipating a lovely experience and I was not disappointed. We were the only people there at 4 and were greeted at the door by our server who also sat us. We explained that we cook for a living and are adventurous eaters but were not as familiar with Korean as we would like to become and could she recommend something? Our server was delighted and recommended the "box" options which consisted of a number of different dishes. I had the ribeye and my BFF had the spicy pork. It arrived at our table in about 15 minutes and consisted of charcoal barbecued meat, fried rice with diced carrots and onions, two wings, two fried dumplings with dipping sauce, a clear noodle salad, an iceberg salad with a spicy fish sauce dressing, and a bowl of beef soup that was described as "clear beef stock". And so it was. That was the only part of our meal that was not flavorful. Perhaps the cook didn't have time to season it since we were the first people there but it tasted like beef bones that had been simmered but not flavored. The rest of our dishes were very good and flavorful and served with kimchi, cucumber kimchi, spicy bean sprouts, fish cakes and green beans. Our server was very nice, checked in often, was interested in whether or not we were enjoying ourselves and was kind enough to explain all the dishes we had which is why I can explain them.
I see a review by another spooner than claims that she received bad service due to her ethnic heritage or lack of, and I will say this: I'm black and my BFF was white and I wasn't feeling any racism.

Loved it!. I have never had Korean food before, but have been wanting to try it for years (hubby had it in NY long ago.) This food was not a disappointment.

We started off with the spicy fish pancake and deep fried dumplings. The pancake was huge, so we ended up bringing some of it home. It was also wonderfully tangy and hot (from the kim chi) and chock full of squid and octopus. The dumplings were also tasty, just not as flavorful or spicy as the pancake.

For entrees; hubby had the spicy squid with rice-made all the better because they served the rice under the squid, so it was able to soak up some of the quite spicy, but really tasty sauce. It was one of those, "I can't stop eating this, even though I am blowing my nose from the heat of it." I had the grilled pork belly, which was a nice combination. I loved the combo of sweet/salty that is only made more prominent by the addition of the wonderful little condiments. We took food home, but it was really hard to stop eating.

Also, the servers were friendly and attentive. There is also a little button to push on the table, should you need something right away. We will definitely be back.

Freaking amazing. This place is awesome. i love all the little side dishes you get to start out. Kimchee, pickled diakon, dried squid etc. The soups/stews are great. The Balbi (ribs) are very good too. The place is a bit expensive though.

Not the best Korean BBQ I've ever had, but way better than I expected. I got the bulgogi lunch box to-go and it was great, it came with all the sides too.

Great Korean BBQ. I went here several months ago and was reflecting on my experience.

I got the Bulgogi Beef Box and enjoyed it very much. The food tasted great and the service was very good.

I definitely need to take a trip back to this restaurant.

Great Korean in Augusta. This restaurant is great, The ambiance is nice, but the food is even better. I got the kimchi soup and was warned about the extreme heat. They were correct. It melted the eyes out of my sockets. It was great, but very intense. My wife and friend got the lunch bento boxes, which I sampled and they were awesome. In addition to your main entree, they bring out five or six side dishes to your table in the Korean tradition. Those are all delicious. Our entire party was pleasantly surprised upon our first ever visit to a Korean restaurant. Everything was of the highest quality. Also, the bathrooms were very tidy and the service was great. The price is a little high, but in my opinion, everything is priced appropriately for the excellence with which it is prepared. I can't wait to go back. I've been trying to talk my boss into going for months.

Edit: We have moved away from the CSRA and I believe Emashiya is the place I miss the most. There's no Korean where we are now and that's sad.

Edit:  I know that no one is reading this any more, but I still need to bring up a point.  The quality of this restaurant is so awesome, that it is THE SOLE REASON that I signed up for Urbanspoon (now Zomato--I like Urbanspoon better)--I HAD to find a way to let people know about it.  If you're reading this, GO TRY IT.

Very tasty food and I was very pleased with the portions since I got takeout. For appetizers we got the emashiya combo (wings, fried dumplings, and 8 pieces of kim bob ((think sushi but with egg, imitation crab, and bbq beef)), and for the main course got the spicy bbq pork belly. The meat was marinated well and was juicy and tender, and the appetizers were all umami and tasty. Definitely recommend, but keep in mind like other KBBQ spots it isn’t a cheap place to eat.

They were so polite. The food was delicious. They would ask if we were doing okay and ask for refills at perfect times. The service button is so useful. I loved how the seating somewhat private too ! Very calming and they made me feel less anxious being there !! I would 100% recommend.

Excellent food and service. The fried dumpling appetizer was so good we ordered a second round. For those unfamiliar with Korean food, the spice is not overwhelming, and boxes are a great way to sample the menu. Highly recommended!

If people are complaining about waiting its usually cause the place is full (because the food is good) but there's a limited number of staff (worker shortage) that is plaguing every business these days, not just this little shop. The food reminds me of my time in Korea and is well prepared. If there's anything to complain about it would be the fact they don't have more restaurants in the area since they are pretty good. Food may be a little pricey but it's also not common like a burger joint, there's good and bad about everything and usually those looking to make make a fuss will always make a fuss regardless. Ultimately, it's a good little Korean joint to eat at.

The food is fantastic. I lived in Japan for a year, and there's a lot of culinary overlap with Korean food. The flavors were so authentic that it took me back in an instant. Our Bulgogi and Golden Curry were truly delicious. It's on the expensive side for Augusta.. but but worth it, in my opinion.

This place is one of the best places in Evans to go eat. It’s hard to find genuinely good, satisfying food but it’s all here! The service is always good and everyone that works there is super nice! My only complaint is that i don’t make enough money to eat here all the time!!!! Lol! The Bulgogi is the best thing on the menu in my opinion! It’s even better if you get a bottle of soju w it too!!
