How did not know these places!! The food was amazing! So different than Tex-Mex! Which I love this place! The service was great! Clean everywhere! The parking lot was packed, but you can also Park next building's parking lot so no need to get stressed! Definitely, we will be back!

We decided to go to El Dorado Cafe in Austin but we were a little disappointed, so we decided to stop by Fonda San Miguel in Austin, to check out the place, I was celebrating my birthday. I was so upset at myself for not making a reservation at this restaurant. It's such a beautiful place, excellent service and the Tres Leches Cake was delicious. Our waitress was super friendly. I can't rate the food because unfortunately we didn't eat there. I will make sure to make a reservation to try out their food.

The food was unique and impressive to say the least. The vegan options for my mom were surprisingly something she was able to eat despite all her food restrictions. The biggest thing that added on to it was the atmosphere, the vibe, the interior decorations. Thinking of making this my go to fine dining mexican food place!!!

The food here is great. The service is good. The atmosphere is really fun. We came right at 5pm in order to find a table because reservations are months out, but there is an open area at the front with tables for people without reservations. We ordered the al pastor tacos as an appetizer, and they came with two sauces. I thought the green avocado based sauce was delicious. The tacos were perfect, with the exception that there was a large unchewable bit of pork skin/fat that I just couldn't get through and had to spit out. My husband ordered he chaleta pork chop, which was huge and very tasty. I ordered the duck enchiladas at our waiter's recommendation. That sauce was absolutely delicious. My only complaint about it was that there was a bay leaf in one of the enchiladas, which while adding delicious seasoning, seems like a choking hazard and should have been removed before rolling it into the enchiladas. The rice and beans were somewhat bland and disappointing, especially because my husband paid extra to add them to his dish. They did taste better the next day when we had them for leftovers, though. We walked out paying over a hundred dollars for our food, which is why I can't give the place five stars. For that price, I expect the food to be perfect.

First time in Austin and found this place on the internet while searching for a place to have dinner. We loved everything about this restaurant. Food was exquisite and service was incredible! Our waiter was very attentive and offered excellent dishes recommendations. We highly recommend Fonda San Miguel. We will certainly visit it again when we return to Austin in the future.

I have been to Fonda San Miguel both for their happy hour and regular menu, and I've enjoyed both. The setting and ambiance is great, with lovely decor to welcome you from your first step in the door. The entrees are a little pricey, I'd recommend coming with a group and sharing dishes to try a few. The happy hour specials are quite good, but you have to stay in the bar area to enjoy these deals (% off certain appetizers and $2 off tequila drinks, including margs). My experience with service in the bar area - kinda slow.

This place was spectacular from the atmosphere, service and food/drinks were incredible! Definitely add this place to your bucket list and great for special occasions. We had a late reservation and unfortunately their Duck Enchiladas were sold out; definitely try to book an earlier reservation if you can especially if you're wanting to try that specific dish. We tried La Llorona specialty cocktail for Halloween, Corn/tortilla soups, Relleno Picadillo, Mole Enchiladas and Mixiote which were all AMAZING! The only thing I didn't like is the size of the water cups are pretty small and constantly need topping up. Overall Fonda San Miguel is a magical, beautiful and very special place! ❤️

It's good place. We went there for our anniversary . Food was good not exceptional. I had enchiladas which wasn't as good as chewys. But their stuffed poblano pepper was a good one. I loved their dessert that was on the house. The ambience is really nice and definitely you can bring the whole family.

A wonderful experience awaits you at Fonda San Miguel. A beautiful place to dine. It's great for a date or just socializing with friends. The drinks are tasty and appealing to the eye at a very reasonable price. The food was really delicious, including the salsas. I was surprised at the taste of the mole. I usually am not a fan, but I really liked it here. My Enchiladas were tender and moist, a perfect combo with my number one Margarita! Our server was prompt and ensured we were satisfied with our dining experience. So, if you are looking for a classy place to eat Mexican food in Austin, look no more and make a reservation at Fonda San Miguel!

The ambience and service were top notch. We got the queso, cauliflower tacos and "zucchini" relleno. Could have used more salt in these dishes, and the queso could have been more molten. Their chips and salsa was very good.

We went at 9:30 pm since that’s the only available reservation we found. The restaurant is unique, they have a good variety of food. I custom my daughter’s order: instead of getting chicken quesadillas, I asked to get it as chicken tacos. We got the mixed desserts plate and the Tres leches taste sooo goood! It’s a little pricey but it’s worth it! The restaurant has unique interior decoration, very good atmosphere and great vibes. The service was great! The stuff are friendly!

Excellent Mexican restaurant in Austin, a place you can’t miss if you love Mexican food It’s not “Tex-Mex”, but “Mexican”. What that means is that you will not get your typical Tex Mex favs like Quesadillas or Fajitas here. They do offer enchiladas however! Service is on point and all the dishes we ordered (pictures attached) were amazing. I will be back …

Lovely place with wonderful atmosphere showcasing the Mexican experience through food, art and design. Walking into the restaurant you are immediately taken to another place and immersed into what feels authentic to the Mexican culture. The staff are courteous and welcoming. The interior from the decor to the artwork highlights Mexican style and artistry. The food is also a separate experience on its own as you will not find Tex-Mex here. In addition to the main dishes in their menu, they have a separate section in the menu that is specifically vegan-friendly which, although limited, is still appreciated. I ordered the vegan enchiladas which appeared rather simplistic and visually-lacking, but were still delicious and flavorful. Overall an enjoyable Mexican dining experience.

We had a delightful and delicious Happy Hour at FSM tonight. Our server John was especially knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. It was my first time trying the huitlacoche quesadillas and the seasonal Chili en Nogada and they were amazing! It’s a bit of a splurge for us, but we will definitely be back.

One does not just walk into this place fyi... I had to get a reservation a month in advanced just to get my mom and I into this place on a Tuesday evening and yes they get that busy and packed despite being much larger inside then I expected with easily over 200 people being served at tables! The food: Five stars and the best of Austin. Nothing more I can say From their chips and red and green salsas (seriously what's in this red sauce I would pay just to take home a jar of this stuff!) Chips are not thin greasy cheap but perfect. Not cheap store kind. Just perfect Same with blue corn and small homemade like flour tortillas coming out fresh from the back in fancy wooden bowls (showing my ignorance here at what these authentic utensils and containers from South American culture are, please forgive me my Spanish ancestors! Lol) And they had me at... Here is our special of the month... Lamb carne asada! O_O My mom went with the chicken green sauce enchiladas. Even the black beans were to die for! (And you get what you paid for too with their drinks! The lemonade is perfect in every way, texture and taste!) The place: You get to see pictures of South American history throughout every inch of the walls as well as all kinds of unique art works as well contributing to the culture and atmosphere here! Customer service: They earned their tips here hard-working smile and do everything they can to make sure your experience is top-notch with the experience of everything here to everyone's palate and satisfaction and definitely ours as well as accommodating a multitude of families here and yet still getting us food and served and under 30 minutes and I swear there's over two hundred people here tonight! :) Our waitress Marilla easily made us feel like family and got us full and satisfied in record time and even made sure to get us more tortillas too ! Am soo stuff led and satisfied that when she came back to offer desert I nearly died lol Seriously even there deserts (we are talking not cheap high quality no fake dairy all legit and even goat cheese and lots of lamb dishes here too!)
