This restaurant has an enjoyable outside eating area. It is covered with good lighting and atmosphere for those who enjoy outdoor patio eating.
The food was good, we tried the place based on the southern menu selections and excited to try it out. I had the chicken fried steak, it was very good. A great crust, flavor and tender steak. I enjoyed the kick of heat from the Chipotle gravy, which just added to the overall flavor. And the mashed potato also good.
Initially, the first biscuit order came to the table cold, once we shared with our waiter this was quickly resolved. The next arrival the biscuits were hot and fresh. The biscuit is okay, a little more dense for my liking.
And my friends shared their selections was a good choice. Really good service as well.
Come here, eat here, order the shrimp and grits.
This is a chill spot with a great covered patio. They also have portable AC.
The service is quick and friendly and the food is 10/10.
When you are seated they great you with a bowl of seasoned popcorn. However don't skip on the fried shrimp corn dogs.
I can't wait to eat here again with friends.
The brunch menu also looks delicious!
Moonshine Grill was absolutely delicious. We got the Roasted Garlic Bulbs, Centre Cut Pork Chop and the New York Strip. The Garlic Bulbs were good but unnecessary for just the two of us as we were so full for dinner plus you are constantly smelling like Garlic for the days following. I had the steak and it was amazing, could have maybe used a bit more seasoning on the mash. I got a side of fries with the steak instead of the brussell sprouts and they were cooked to perfection! My husband got the pork and I heard no complaints.

Sitting in one of Austin's oldest homes, built in 1852, the beautiful limestone glows with a welcoming light as you enter. Downstairs is a private speakeasy available by reservation that can handle 10 to 15 people. Ask about sitting in the Sunday house for the perfect romantic dinner. By the way, you can order from the full menu at the bar. My Venison Salisbury steak over mashed potatoes was prepared excellently, tender and juicy meat with mushroom reduction gravy. Try the Banana cream pie served in a mason jar, set perfectly with ripened banana and creme whipped so smooth there was not a hint of granular sugar. It crossed the tongue like a smooth rich mouse. It was topped with a homemade butterscotch sauce hinting of that lovely smokey taste of a well prepared butterscotch.
Co-workers and I wanted to grab some food and drinks before the GalaxyCon. We got here, waited like 19 minutes until it opened at 10:00. Worth the wait. Excellent service and waitstaff. Food was amazing. And the drinks were spot on.
The popcorn was surprisingly good haha. I highly recommend this place.
What a fantastic find!! I was on a quick business trip for two days and this is where we had dinner.
I’m glad my business partner knew the city otherwise this would have passed me by for sure.
We opted to sit at the bar which turned out to be a good decision. Shaun, the bartender and was quite knowledgeable about the many varieties of bourbon they carried. My partner chose a bourbon on the rocks after an informative discussion with him. I opted for a grapefruit & gin and I throughly enjoyed! Never put those two together before but I’ll continue to do so.
The menu was incredible and really if you couldn’t choose something you liked this place definitely wasn’t for you. We started out with the Corndog Shrimp - that blew me away! It came with a side of Honey Mustard with a blueberry swirl! This is a must try appetizer and one that should not be overlooked!
I was tossed between the salmon or the trout. However, my love of horseradish was the deciding factor and so I chose the Horseradish Crusted Salmon which was paired with Brussel Sprouts. An unbelievable combo that will stay in my memory for a long time. The fact that horseradish played such an interesting role is still astonishing!
Doubtful if I’ll return to Austin any time soon but if I do I know where I’m going for dinner & drinks.
Initially went in to try their Blackened Catfish, but I don’t like grits or crawfish or Brussels sprouts. Which this dish included. So I opted out for their New York Strip. One Word! Yummy. Cooked medium well and it was delicious. I’m not a fan of mashed potatoes, but the Yukon mashed potatoes were good! Daughter got Pork chop and hubby got the Chicken sandwich. They were very pleased w/their choices. Our waiter (He) was attentive and great! Wait time was 35 minutes, so we sat in the patio instead, because their was no wait. For obvious reasons the temperature was 103 outside. However they had swamp cooler’s throughout to keep the temperature comfortable. Overall ambiance is really great. I noticed a few Bar areas and maybe a party room to reserve out as well. There is a parking lot next door, that you need to pay for. That was the only downside.
Food is amazing, atmosphere depends on your taste, it can get a bit loud and crowded, but the space itself looks great.
Example of the food:
This hanger steak, followed by the NY strip and bread pudding. The hanger steak is deceptively tasty and has turned me onto the fact that hanger steak may in fact be THE best cut. Also, the mashed potatoes and veggies here are phenomenal , they have some kind of caramelized bacon or something in them thats just bursts in your mouth with flavor.
We arrived right before the dinner rush but we chose to eat in the back bar area. Which has a private and cozy feel to it. Although the tables are close together it has a relaxing and secluded atmosphere. The bartenders were very friendly, efficient, and welcoming. They made the drinks quick and strong enough to enjoy the flavors instead of tasting like gasoline. The calamari had soft meat with a crisp coating. The trout was a good size serving with a chili butter sauce. Chicken almondine was also moist with a crispy crust. All were very delicious and filling. It was a great experience with an even better meal and drinks. Ww will definitely return.
