I love this place. Huge portions… barbecue beef ribs, pulled pork, baby back ribs, beef brisket, with all tasty sides. You can’t go wrong here. I love the rustic feel of this restaurant and it’s local. If you want good BBQ, this is a great place to stop.
It’s a gem! Unassuming restaurant from the 1930’s in the heart of downtown.
I ordered the pork ribs and the half chicken. The chicken was spot on juicy, tender, Smokey and very well charred!
The pork ribs were very well cooked and the spicing was perfect.
I’d recommend this to any one! A true hid
Barbecue restaurant operating at this location since 1935. You can feel the history in the appearance and the building. Once inside, you can see the kitchen and order there. Receive the food, pay at the counter on the right and sit down. There is seating outside, but it was a very hot day, so it mig
The atmosphere is excellent, and the bbq is good.
The downside? Wicked expensive for what you get. My brisket plate $22 was 1/3lb and extremely fatty. It tastes good, but some more meat for that price would be nice. And a beer was $6. $30 for a lunch. I'm not surprised the place wasn't packed
Well, great service. I got 1/2 lb of brisket. Nice an moist, but had a bitterness to the smoke. Sometimes, it happens with the smoking process. Had the white bread, great pickles, and sliced onions.
Partner had the baked potato with pulled pork, excellent potato pulled pork was a little dry, and la
I am from Washington….this is by far the best food I have ever had, don’t tell my mom please. The staff are the most kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! They even gave me some Mac and cheese for free! 1000000/10 don’t sleep on this place!
I can't describe how much I love Iron Works BBQ. I graduated from UT in the 90s and am so happy that this place is still going strong, serving delicious brisket and solid sides of coleslaw and Mac n cheese.
Authentic. Old. Unique. Wood-fired genuine Texas BBQ. We got the sampler plate and it was enough to split between us two and we were very satisfied. Mac and cheese was excellent. The brisket fell apart and was delightful. The green beans have pork in them and a great flavor. Caramelized pe
I Don’t Say The Following Words Lightly….This is by far one of the best BBQ Beef Ribs that I have ever ate!!! I own a smoker and love good BBQ! Salty with a sweet marble, fall off the bone good.
I don’t eat pork, but they have all beef sausage-great with their BBQ sauce and pickles. Brisket and Turk
Ironworks, oh Ironworks,
The taste of smoke and flame,
Brisket that's so excellent,
And pulled pork just the same.
The menu may be simple,
No frills or fancy flair,
But each dish is a masterpiece,
Of smoky, savory care.
The aroma fills the air,
As the meats are cooked to perfection,
With every bit
I always make a pilgrimage back to Iron Works BBQ every time I’m in Austin. It was the first bbq place I visited and because of that I will always hold a flame for it. Like any bbq place it’s always best when it’s busy, the sampler plate is a sure fire hit. Sides are a bit hit and miss but who goes
Very very very rustic BBQ place. The service was friendly and quite fast. The food is the star of this place. I got the sampler which included a very large rib, brisket, sausage, Mac n cheese, and coleslaw (you pick the sides). This was extremely filling and flavorful.
WOW.
Granted, im not local, but in my life have I rarely had bbq as tastey and reasonably priced as I did here. Massive portions for the price point at this Counterserve spot (pictured are the beef ribs). The inside stayed cool with adequate fans and cooling. Place was so good I came back the next
The pulled pork was definitely not dry and had a good flavor, no additional sauce needed for my taste. The potato salad was good and so was the slaw.
Came here for lunch, right outside our hotel in Austin. Somewhat dieting, we split the Sampler Plate and it was mighty good!
Sausage, brisket and ribs with excellent side. This joint it no frills, good eatin! I highly recommend.
It's your typical BBQ place inside. No surprises or anything unusual. But the food was phenomenal. I had the sampler platter. The sausage was decent but the sliced beef and the beef rib were amazing. The BBQ beans were ok (I'm really picky about my beans) and the Mac & Cheese was outstanding. All in
Gotta give this place a try next time you are in Austin. Great BBQ! Not anything fancy but you get so much food for the price! Stop in and get a platter or sandwich and don’t miss out on the sweet tea. Not the cleanest place in town but if you can overlook that you are in for a treat.
This place is rustic. But if you like BBQ then it is 5 stars all the way. Fast service and great food. Not as busy as some other local BBQ options but you may hit a line up depending on when you eat. We were there at 5pm with no line. When we left there was about 20 people lined up. Recommended and
