Enter a time machine that takes you back to the days when Austin was culturally shaping the outlaw country music movement and earning the title of Live Music Capitol of the World. Eat some of the best fried chicken in all the south on the way. Clean Broken Spoke style bathrooms, best waitstaff in the whole damn world - Dixie should get a trophy for her continued service to South Austin. Lucy's is the best way to welcome visitors to Austin, the assortment of hot sauces is unbelievable, and the OYSTERS are the best I've ever had!
The best everything ! Best checkin , best service , best tap beer , best chicken fried steak ! Just fuckin Yum!
My first time there, it was worth the wait! I showed up kinda late, but the staff was super friendly and didn't seem to mind. The bartender was kind enough to give me some recommendations on what to get. Also, she was telling me about the weekly drink specials. I'll be back to not only try the chicken fried steak, but to chill out on the patio.
This is my favorite chicken spot. Our waitress was nice and attentive. I love fried chicken and we will be back for sure. The ambience is 😎 cool and the food was great. It was hot and tasty. I just like the vibe. It’s a nice place to enjoy your food. I’m glad we found this place.
Delicious! 4.75/5 stars. I got the chicken and waffles, a cornbread, s’mores pie and a house margarita for like $28 (the margaritas was on special). The cornbread was moist, sweet and flavorful and not overpowered by the jalapeño, which added a nice contrast to the sweetness. The chicken was hot, fresh, very moist, flavorful and seasoned and fried very well! Very large portions as well for the price. The waffles were ACTUAL Belgian-style waffles with the sugar beads baked in, which I literally haven’t had since visiting Belgium years ago. I will be coming back to try the other menu items and some of the sides. Very good value for the cost and what was provided. No review on the pie yet since I took it to go since I was overfilled by the main course, but it looks delicious.
The fried chicken, chicken sandwich, and loaded tater tots are good to get here but today, I tried today's daily special: the chicken and dumplings. The creamy mix was flavorful with shredded chicken and tasty dumplings 🤤. I'm so glad I opted for a bowl vs a cup of this dish and ate all of it.
The food was absolutely delicious everything! Tried the fried green tomatoes they are the best I've ever had! And the bucket of bone in chicken was exactly what we needed
Went to Lucy’s for the first time today - our expectations were mid and we had heard opposing opinions.
We ordered a Texas Poutine (special for the day) to start and it was great. The tater tots were done well and their sausage gravy was actually damn good. The cheese curds were perfectly fried and had that amazing chew you always want in a cute. I’d actually get the curds by themselves if they had them too.
The other special for they day was Nashville Hot Chicken. I overestimated the hot.. it wasn’t hot at all. They served me 2 chicken breasts which I thought was odd - at least a heads up or a mix of dark and white meat. Unfortunately it was dry. The skin and Nashville seasoning was good but there was little Nashville to it.
The fried chicken basket was better. The 4 piece came with breast, thigh, drumstick and wing. It was juicy and paired well with some of the sauces they have at the table.
We also ordered coleslaw and I thought it was good. My wife thought it had too much vinegar.
Overall, everything was good but it doesn’t compete with the big name up the road. (It rhymes with buses).
Service was good and the place looks fun to have a few drinks too.
This is now my favorite returant in Austin to order chicken and waffles! You must try them! The atmosphere was awesome. We came for lunch. Our waiter, Eric, did a great job, very enthusiastic and outgoing. I will definitely recommend Lucy's Chicken. Oh yeah, I am very picky about my unsweet Tea, this tea was perfectly made, and you will not be disappointed. I will definitely return to this establishment at this location.
An Austin staple. Usually busy on weekends and has live music for sxsw. Had the fried chicken sandwich , sub fries, side of fried okra. It was huge and worth the money! They have a great variety of homemade hot sauces . Not a lot of indoor seating 🥵
Lucy’s staff were delightful. We ordered the chicken basket with onion rings and the chicken fried steak and fries. The fried chicken was well done. The onion ring had a a subtle kick. The chicken fried chicken was fresh not frozen and well done. My husband would recommend the chicken fried steak.
Awesome place, loved the atmosphere and our service was outstanding. We loved everything but ordered to much. Overall it was just perfect. The chicken liver was excellent. The Bloody Mary was to die for. First time having fried deviled eggs and I’m expressed. Outside seating was good. We’ll definitely come back again.
Chicken spaghetti 9/10 it would have been a 10 if the piece of chicken on top wasn’t dry and flavorless, the spaghetti itself was flavorful and delicious. Cornbread 2/10, it wasn’t good, but it was a very thick, filling constancy. Fried catfish 8/10, for me it’s a must to eat it with the tratar sauce and lemon. Now the fried deviled eggs are a MUST TRY!!! Just take my word for it.
As a new hire I had to decide where our team was going to have lunch and I decided on Lucy's and I'm very glad I did.
They had a great assortment of foods while staying true to having good fried chicken. I had the fried deviled eggs and burn-it bowl and both were fantastic. Their key lime pie was great and even the whipped topping on it tasted a little like key lime. A little pricey in my opinion but sometimes you pay for experiences. Their fries were also great, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Lucy's delivers great portions at great prices. Awesome venue with great outdoor seating. Rotating daily deals can keep you trying new drinks for a good price. The best deal for raw oysters in Austin, as far as I know. The fried chicken is amazing.
Great fried food. Tried the fried pickles, green tomatoes and okra. All were delicious. Great Slightly spicy sauce. The Revival is a very delicious sandwich which you can pair with a variety of sides. Good Mac and Cheese side, also kettle chips. Cheese Grits were a little salty. Great service. The atmosphere is very casual, Sat outside where they have picnic tables. Good spot for larger group.
Lucy’s has some of the best fried chicken ever! If you are in Austin and looking for a great place to eat you need to check this place out!!
Listen. The Diablo Oysters ain’t no joke. Accurately named, I’m pretty sure these were created in the third circle of hell in Dante’s Inferno. I was too confident and plunged mouth first into the sun. At first you’ll try to convince yourself that you are okay, that you’re a spicy girly and it will pass…nope, incorrect, you’re merely on purgatory’s patio. The first pic is a perfect depiction of my state
- sweat dripping in my eyes, blurry, a little woozy. I’m pretty sure everything else we ordered was delicious even though I’d already 86’d my taste buds with magma. Will definitely go back - all around humbling experience.
this place is a true 5 star. first off great atmosphere. casual outdoor patio area with picnic tables. radio was on and playing good music. staff was friendly, attentive, and fast. the food was excellent. nothing was super original or special but it was done right. fried pickle spears were to die for. chicken and waffles were amazing, and the tenders and chicken bucket were great as well. prices were reasonable and for that reason i’m giving a 5/5
