I love this place and since starting to come to this place in September, it has become, hands down, my favorite café. It’s busy because the food is great. I have only ordered from the menu once from the over 100 times I’ve been here. Why? The specials are always amazing!! Oh and the coffee is different everyday. I recommend the Panamanian! => Aside from the food being epic, the staff is amazing and always put a smile on my face when I walk in the door. Seriously, my favorite place to eat in Austin!! Stay awesome Java!!!!

As soon as we found this place we were hooked. The food's great. I usually get their tacos, their Ultimate Migas, their steak sandwich (probably my favorite), or their off-the-menu Batman Omelet. Besides their food (and coffee, which is great), the atmosphere is really nice. It feels like a chill local place. It does get pretty busy, but the service is always great. And they have a lot of regulars, so you see a lot of the same people when you go in. Really gives it a "neighborhood restaurant" feel. They also have some pretty interesting artwork on the walls, so you've got stuff to look at while you're waiting on your food. Also, the owner is extremely friendly and, if you go there more than a handful of times, you're sure to meet him.

Good food!! I live right up the street so I'm here at least once a week. Breakfast ,lunch or dinner...it's all good! Friendly staff. Last night I had their pork chop dish with rice, beans and tortillas. I have to say it was one of the best pork chop dishes I ever had. Keep on cooking Cafe Java!!

Best breakfast place in Austin! Usually a wait, but moves quickly. Order always comes hot and ready within 10 minutes. Never had a bad experience! From the cinnamon rolls to the corned beef hash, no bad decisions. This place is second to none for my girlfriend and I.

Even though we had to wait for our table for a while, once we were seated everything was super fast. The wait staff is very attentive and the coffee is so good! We were also very pleased with our breakfast!

I had the migas, they were delicious. Loved their coffee too. The wait staff was right there with more coffee before I even asked. Friendly, comfortable place for any meal, I'm sure.

This is definitely a recommendation for the win! Service was good! There has always been a wait - the earlier the dine in the better and less of a wait. The entrees here are delicious and the coffee selection is wonderful.

This is the no frills breakfast you're looking for. Acts like a diner but has that old Austin vibe. Great espresso and coffee (they even gave us togo coffee after dining in) and everything on the menu is under $11. The ultimate migas were perfectly seasoned and are easily two meals. Bacon is exactly what you want and absolutely nothing to complain about on the rest of the items we got. This'll be our new standard breakfast place.

This is the slice of life Texas you want if you are visiting. Atmosphere is great, staff are fun and super friendly, food is outstanding (far better than chains) and eggs were top notch. Had the 2x2x2 and loved it. Couldn't finish it because it was enough for 2, but great none the less. Highly recommend this place for a fun and memorable breakfast with real Texans.

I've been going here for years, and it's been great every single time. I love their flexibility, like when you want a dish, you can change anything about it and it's completely fine. When I went last I got the 2x2x2, but instead of French toast or a pancake, I got just toast on rye. This was a great alternative to something super sweet. I was also able to change out an egg for hash browns, and I've got to say, that their hash browns are amazing. Their bacon is also just super good. Their pancakes and French toast are also incredible, as well as their omelets. I also love how kid-friendly it is! The hot chocolate comes with whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate syrup. Their kids menu is super fun and it has some games on it, and they have a gumball machine out front. 100/10 recommend!!!

There is not one bad thing I could say about this place! The customer service is PHENOMENAL and the food is amazing. The wait time is fast but I’d say it does get kinda congested from the building being so small and so many people.

Cafe Java is always a great experience. Great diner atmosphere and great service. For me it's the best breakfast in the area. Crispy corned beef hash, perfect hash browns and toast done right; on the griddle. On my most recent visit I hot the special. Meatloaf Monday. The meatloaf had good flavor and texture. Good gravy as well. The vegetables were in some sort of gravy as well. Tasted like a lite chicken gravy almost. Update: returned again and tried a different breakfast dish. The 2x2x3. 2 sausage, 5 bacon and 3 eggs surved with fresh, sliced tomatoes. The tomatoes really made the dish. Another great trip today. Western omelette was huge and fantastic.

The BEST place for brunch. Everything is fresh, and served with speed. Most of the times that I've been, they always have a wait to get in but usually it's not a long wait. Aren't all good places worth the wait, because this one sure is. AND it's not just the food but it's the COFFEE. Their coffee menu and offerings are the best. Their is something about their coffee that is just so damn addictive!!! Oh, I'm from the deep south and always prefer biscuits but when I'm at Cafe Java, I always get the sourdough toast. It just goes better with their generous portioned hashbrowns and great big ole omlettes. Only drawback is that servers are busy and all seem to help each other. After you get your food, they are onto the next table. Don't wait for refills or your original server. Ask anyone there to get you a refill or anything else you need. Don't get frustrated if you have to ask twice. They are very busy and do their best to get everyone in&out quickly. The menu choices are great, including their daily specials, while being the best value for every dollar spent. You will leave satisfied.

Excellent place for some brunch. Be prepared to wait, especially on weekends. We had a 30 minute wait but the food was worth it. Good portions with helpful staff and adorable prices. We all got the ultimate migas and loved it. Definitely will be going back.

As soon as you walk in you instantly feel cozy and welcomed. All the staff greet you and even remember your order if you come enough times. I have yet to have a terrible experience here after 40+ visits. Every meal tastes like a good ol southern home cooked breakfast. 11/10 recommend you stop by for a bite!

Very upbeat and busy. We had to wait for probably 30 minutes for a table but the atmosphere was very friendly while everyone waited. The server was very helpful and prompt. The daily specials were delicious though they did have a full menu. The coffee selection was too good. It was very hard to decide but all delectable.

This place is amazing!!! I almost hate to write this because the only reason we don't go is because we have to wait for a table! The food is very reasonably priced and so good!!! The Ultimate Migas are sensational and the speed of food getting out is crazy fast! What I REALLY love is the waitstaff and how they share responsibilities and you never feel like someone won't help you. They pool the tips so you just see a sense of ownership from everyone. I just love it!!!

Staff is so friendly, the prices are so legit and the portions are hearty! They had the Hill Country Breaky on special when I was there with my guy Matt and we both took it down. Biscuits and gravy, hashies, sausage patties & soft scrambled eggs were amazing!

We’ve been coming here for years, it’s a great little diner. The California is our favorite omelette, but they frequently have great specials as well. They also used to have great pancakes - they might still but we don’t eat pancakes these days, too many carbs. Also they have good breakfast tacos - nothing fancy, just the basics, but very tasty.

Wait staff so nice and breakfast was amazing. Biscuits and gravy special was so good. Homemade Biscuits that are buttery and crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. Homemade hashbrowns are the best I've ever had. Everything we ordered was so good. Definite must have when visiting Austin.

Excellent food and service. Had the 2 x 2 x 2 pancake platter with scrambled eggs and sausage. The standout was the multi grain pancakes. Sturdy and flavorful and they have peanut butter to add, which is my favorite pancake topping. They came out hot from the grill and were exactly what I want when I want pancakes. Definitely on my regular rotation now. Edit: Remember to order the Mexican Eggs and Split Decision if they're not on the chalkboard. 🙂 Edit: Cowboy Migas are great too. Edit: They keep adding great new plates. Nacho Mama's Migas are fantastic!

Very pleased with Cafe Java! Great coffee, authentic Cafe vibe, great food, good sized portions and easy on the wallet. This will probably be my new go to for breakfast! Only waited around 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday brunch rush. I got the biscuits and gravy and it was great. Only available on the weekends though. Either way they have an extensive menu. Very impressed and will be back soon!!
