Love the chachutti and cheese plate great fish and burgers also fabulous wine selection on some of the bed martinis in Austin. All in all a great vibe , great food and outdoor seating. Plus excellent service. Highly recommend.
Hell Night 2016 was one of the most creative and exciting menus I've ever eaten. Everything from the drinks, to the appetizers, to the main courses, to the deserts, had heat levels attached to them. The range of heat was 1 to 5. One being mildly hot. Five being flames shooting out of your mouth!!!
Before I go any further I need to mention our server Ashley, she was absolutely excellent! She was encouraging of our choices and expressed her amazement that my young dining partner ordered the hottest hell night entree! Our water was refilled constantly they had another staff member making the rounds constantly. Ashley gave suggestions on "must try's".
Trace has a beautiful atmosphere, they normally are not open after brunch on Sunday's. Lots of staff there, Managers making the rounds frequently, timing of food perfect, Chefs came out of the kitchen and spoke with several diners asking how everything tastes and how enjoyable the heat levels in the food were.
This event was to benefit the Sustainable Food Center.
All in all very entertaining, fun, delicious and for a good cause!
This was our second visit to Trace. It was as amazing as I remembered. Our meal was incredible! The staff was prompt and delightfully friendly! They even included a surprise aniversary dessert; Which Must've been made in outer space. Because it was out of this world delicious! We look forward to our next visit!
Saturday brunch-- $1 mimosas seems like a sufficient review but it would be unfair to not highly encourage everyone to order the creole benedict. Amazing!
My husband and I enjoyed a Post Valentine's Dinner this past weekend..we enjoyed this place so much..everything from the menu to the service was spectacular..Will make it a regular tradition..
Love. The food. Love the wait staff. Love the lit music...take the volume down a notch. Just a notch, please.
It was impeccable the servers and manager took very good care of us didn't even look at any menu we where in good hands and big ups to the chefs.
Thank you again!
The experience and food was great! Heads up make a reservation and you don't have to wait like other brunch spots. Many food choices like the Tasty Burger, Lavaca Omlette! Plus 1.00 dollar Mimosas! Will come back again!
Trace is THE place for upscale ambiance, top notch service and always an experience to remember! Prometheus is our favorite server and he keeps us coming back.
I just recently moved to Austin so I’ve been trying out La new place each week. Trace has by far been my favorite place so far, the staff is absolutely amazing, I looked it up because I wanted to bring my dog somewhere with me, they provided him a bowl and treats. They staff were very attentive. The food was AMAZING. The hummus is the freshest I’ve had ever in my life, the pita was very warm as well. The food was 10/10. Thank you all for such a great experience.
It has come down a little over the years in furniture upkeep etc, but it is still one of my favorite places to eat when I am in Austin.
I stayed as a resident guest in the W for a year and ate here frequently.
The food is very clean, and no matter what you order, you leave feeling satisfied, nourished, and energized.
Service is excellent, and the atmosphere is classy, relaxed, and luxurious.
Quiet and beautiful place. I love that the salmon is healthy too. My whole family enjoyed it here so much! If you want to try a nice healthy meal, I recommend it for sure!
Tried Trace during their happy hour and it was definitely worth it.
The waiter was extremely friendly and prompt.
As far as the food goes, everything was good enough to where we would come back, but I’m not sure some of the stuff is worth the price outside of their happy hour. I’d rate this place a solid 4.3.
My favorite dish was the crab cakes. Those were a 5/5.
The food was prepared pristinely and plated with love 💛. The pulled Pork tacos 🌮 were beyond amazing! The Arugula Salad 🥗 is a must if your a salad person. The chicken sandwich 🥪 was the crispiest chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, in my entire life! The sandwich came with a side of fries 🍟 that were packed full of flavor. My favorite part was how prompt, knowledgeable and courteous the wait staff was. Michael attended us & suggested all the plates that we tried. So happy that we popped in for a quick bite.

Clean, modern restaurant on the first floor and patio of the W hotel downtown. Wait staff was friendly and attentive, but badly understaffed for Easter Sunday Brunch. Overall it worked out well as they were in no rush to turn tables and had more than enough entertainment in the form of live animals, live music, and never-ending Easter Egg hunts. The food was average, and the menu was fixed, but the hostess brought out tons of, "the good stuff," for the kids, so everyone left happy with pimped out Easter baskets. We would happily return.
Nice ambiance, great service. I had a delicious bowl of acorn squash soup with toasted pepitos, crrspy Brussels sprouts in apple glaze, and a smashed potato with sour cream, chedder cheese and scallions, along with a glass of Chardonnay (a genorous pour) for $45.
Back at the W Austin for 4 days. Arrived today, so ate dinner at Trace. Had the Smoked Shrimp with Tasso Grits, which was delicious (used my knife to get the last drop of grits -should have asked for a spoon), the always great charred Brussels Sprouts & Apple, and The Empress Strikes Back (or something similar), a tasty libation with gin, lemon syrup, cucumber, & orange tonic.
Mary Ellen Neely the manager of the Trace Restaurant was amazing! She stepped in to take our order, served us with grace and efficiently! Food was wonderfully prepared by Chef Beto. Definitely a place to frequent!
The food was delicious! We sat outside on the patio and it was nice and secluded. The waiters and waitresses were all very attentive and friendly! I had the lobster grilled cheese and it was amazing. The atmosphere was fun. I will say it’s kind of hard to find parking but that’s anywhere downtown. I would come back!
We had dinner on the patio and it was beautiful - Elegantly appointed, charming lighting, and far enough from The sidewalk to feel isolated yet still a part of the street's energy. As for the food, it was excellent! For two people, we split 3 small plates and one large plate. The cold smoke pork chop was spot on.
I recently went to Trace for a Bachelorette weekend dinner and literally can't say enough great things about this place!! The ambiance was intimate, and modern, while still feeling elegant.
The staff was sooooo accommodating to our large group and really went out of their way to make it special.
The food was the absolute best part - from the beautiful and unique charcuterie spread to the gorgeous plating in the entrees. I had to have a bite of everything and I'm not sure if I loved the corn ravioli with crab or the lamb the best.
I'm going back to find out! If you haven't been, it's definitely worth it. 😍😍😍😍👍🏼👍🏼
There were a smattering of people scattered about but the food still takes time. I guess perfection can’t be rushed.
Definitely come for happy hour and you can gorge yourself for very little and room to sprawl out.
The Market Snacks were a bargain at happy hour and very expensive without. It was a nice combination of sweet and savory on toast points.
The broccoli cauliflower esquites was not what I expected but after looking up what an esquite is, the dish was spot on. Esquites are a small snack of roasted corn.
The mac & cheese carbonara was off the normal menu. But I really wanted to try it. The little cubes of cured meat love were delicious. Just be sure to stir in the yolk quickly. I forgot but it was still yummy.
I would definitely come here again for happy hour.
I’m in Austin traveling with my dog and found this place nearby at the W Hotel. Great outdoor atmosphere and food was tasty. I tried the Migas breakfast and coffee. Plenty of shade, greenery and friendly staff. Would love to come back for drinks/dinner.
I was out in Austin for business and went here with a business partner. The food was amazing. Had a live band which wasn't overpowering so we could still discuss business. Great cocktail options. Decor was awesome and really liked the inside/outside concept. If I'm ever back in Austin, will for sure eat here again.
I love Trace. This is the restaurant that is inside The W Hotel. They have a wonderful atmosphere and great outdoor dining. I typically only come when they host Drag Brunch which is brunch with a themed drag show typically on random Saturdays. Reservations for Drag Brunch are a must as you will not be sat without them. The food is really good and my favorite has to be the Pork Schnitzel Breakfast Sandwich, it's truly delicious. The El Gordo is also amazing and a must try, it's a messy sandwich. They change their lunch and dinner menus regularly so there is almost always something new to try. All in all, well worth a visit and order a cafe of mimosa 🍾🍾
Not bad, especially if your taking advantage of your Amex credit. But how can you have a pecan oatmeal and run out of pecans!
