I was able to visit here Sunday, 10/15/17, just about an hour after opening. The owner came out to greet me and we were able to talk about what was going on in Puerto Rico for about 20 minutes. He is accepting donations for the island at his restaurant. He's a very enjoyable person to talk with. The same goes for his employees. I loved the restaurant and was able to order without even looking at a menu because of how authentic the menu offerings were. Arroz con gandules? No problem. I ordered the Passion Borica with a Malta India, (Malta India is a soft drink made in Mayaguez and is rare to find stateside). The food was perfect on delivery and was reasonably priced considering the quality. The location and parking is not the best but once the plate is in front of you, there will be no regrets.
Went there on Sunday with friends that had never eaten Puerto Rican food and the food was excellent, mofongo was awesome, my friends loved it. The service was great and the staff personable and friendly. Thank you for a great end of the week!

So delicious. The red beans were so flavorful. We even ordered dessert and it was amazing. Had the Cubano sandwich, pechuga de pollo (w tostones) and carnes frita, mitchalada and tres letches cake. The owner Santiago, his son and waitress were sooooo friendly! I can't wait til they open in Houston.
We came down from Dallas for one night in Austin. It’s hard to find good Puerto Rican food but this was legit.
The shrimp mofongo with wine and garlic sauce will take you back to Old San Juan. The alcapurrias are spot on too!
I truly love this place. If I lived close enough I would never eat at home. Great food, great Owner and a great price.

I went since I just moved into the neighborhood and to fulfill my Caribbean food craving. The food was excellent and that staff are amazing. Go!
Stopped by with my wife and it did not disappoint by far the best Mofongo I have ever had. And my wife loved the pernil. We will definitely be back
Great food. Great service. I recommend the Mofongo with the wine-garlic sauce.
First time trying Puerto Rican Cuisine, I enjoyed it. We had tostones, which I enjoyed, they weren't amazing, but they weren't horrible either. I tried the meat paella, which was delicious, the rice was a little too overcooked for my liking, but once again, it wasn't horrible. Our waiter Manny was friendly, and suggested that we try the cheesecake flan, which was delicious! Overall, I had a pleasant experience. Hoping to one day try a homemade version of these foods and be able to compare. Good job!
*call ahead to confirm their hours* The space is lounge vibes and I love that you are hearing some Latin music and seeing Caribbean decor to get immersed with your food. The service was timely and pleasant. I love how attentive our waiter was. Had good communication and recommendations. Food was hot and full of flavor! I haven't eaten shrimp mofongo since a trip to PR in 2016. The juices from the garlic sauce were on point 👌🏾👌🏾 order everything lol #teamplatano
My first time trying Puerto Rican food and if this is typical, I'm all about it. New and interesting flavors with some of the best service in Austin. Very welcoming and helpful with making good choices from their menu. El Jibarito Sampler was really cool. Everything on the plate was new to me and all were excellent. Queso Frito...same business. It's basically fried cheese and you can't go wrong there. Chagos Pernil Asado was a great entree!
There's parking on the left side of the restaurant if the front is full..
The best puertorican food we have found in Texas! So glad we found a place that reminds us of home! Brought my family on Thursday and had to come back with more family on Saturday. Food was very authentic and flavorful just like it should be, love the sorrullitos, tostones, churrasco. Had the piña coladas and sangría on both occasions and for dessert the cheese flan and tembleque. Highly recommend Chagos if you are in the mood for authentic puertorican food or just great food!
We are visiting from out of state and this was our first stop. Food was authentic and delicious. I had pernil with arroz con gandules. Empanadas. My mom had the bistec encebollado and a flan. Meat was so tender. Service was also awesome. It was quite expensive, for the above and two drinks was $66 before tip.
My first time coming to this spot! Man oh man...the best Puerto Rican food in Austin! I made sure to tell Chago himself how good the food was! I had Chagos Pernil Asado, Monfongo with Garlic Oil & Chicken, and Piña Colada....soo good!! Staff is welcoming and friendly! Definitely coming back because I have a crush on Lil Chago 😁😍 and the food is amazing!
The food was good but different for me. I am not a fan of tomatoes so I found it a little too much for me but my son loved his Paella. Since my meet content is limited to chicken, I couldn't try it since they had beef in it. The food is definitely different but I do see many regular customers so I am pretty sure it is good for many but just not fussy old me. The service was also good.
This has consistently been our favorite date night place for years, and we often take visitors and new comers to Austin here. The setting is homely and we've often interacted with the owners here. They're fun people, and it reflects in the vibe of the restaurant and more importantly, the food. Since I'm a vegetarian, my favorite for years is the Paella Vegetariana, and now they have many more vegetarian and vegan options (like trifongo) to the menu. Just ask. You cannot leave until you've had their desserts- the flan tembleque and tres leche cake are highly recommended! Do dine in if you can, and you'll be happy to have found this hidden gem in Austin, with upbeat music!
Hole in the wall vibe, super friendly family run business, really DELICIOUS food. It is a bit pricier than I would expect considering considering ambiance but the food is really quite worth it. We got the yucca with garlic sauce, my husband got a skirt steak Mofongo, and I got the pulled pork. My normal complaint about pulled pork is that is it dry; you will not find that problem here. The pork is juicy and flavorful and so is the rice, especially mixed with the jalapeño sauce they gave us. Everything we ate was very delicious.
We came on a Wednesday and it was not busy at all which we prefer... I would give it 4.5 stars but Google does not allow it. Considering what a good experience we had and that it is a family run local business I will give it the full 5 stars.
We were searching for good and tasty Caribbean food in Austin, Texas
while on a weekend getaway, As a Caribbean woman, I expect nothing but the best in my culture and food. We read the reviews before visiting this spot and the reviewers were on point. We ordered Bistec and salad which was everything desired and then some. Also ordered fried fish and tostones and it was good. I hadn’t had tostones in a long time and it made me feel like I was at home. If I had to change anything, I would ask that they season the fish a tad bit more. There was a little miscommunication when we first walked in as far as seating was concerned. Otherwise, the service was as great, food was delicious and restroom was clean. Gracias Chago’s!

We had one of the most AMAZING MEALS! It was absolutely delicious. The steak was juicy, the shrimp was cooked perfect and the Red beans and rice were to die for ! When we opened everything we were a little intimidated because there was an array of sauces and we were not confident what went with what. However, we found ALL the flavors worked so well together. Highly recommend this place it’s amazing! We will definitely be back.
