Meh. Got 1/2 lb of sliced point brisket to go. Taste was fine, but was quite dry.
The staff here are so sweet! I had great interactions and my daughter reported to me how kind they were to her a few months ago at a get-together! I haven't had the food but everybody else said that it's really great, especially the ribs.
Haven't been there in 6 years was nice to go back. Food was great and so was the staff
I ate way too fast to even think to take a photo! Everything is delicious. Loved the Slider Trio the Mac and Cheese and the McDowell is amazing! Great service and friendly staff. Great visit!
*Update* I went back this past weekend, still just as amazing and I and remembered to get pics this time!
We were in town for a wedding having moved from Dallas to Denver and we were craving 3 things! Whataburger, Tex-Mex, and BBQ! Thankfully, we found this place to satiate the BBQ cravings! It didn't disappoint! The BBQ and sauces were outstanding! I love the variety of sauces they have to offer. The ribs were great, the sides were great, and my pork sandwich was awesome. I must say, only in Texas will you find layers of BBQ, mashed potatoes wrapped in a tortilla! The portions are HUGE for the price! The only reason for the one star is, I'd like to suggest an offering of a meat plate with sides! I really wasn't in the mood for a sandwich but it got the job done! Wonderful place, I hope they do well!
This is a rarity, but this is a 5-Star review for me. From the time I walked in until the time I left, it has been nothing but bliss. I am a big BBQ eater and I believe that you just can't eat any ole body's barbecue. I informed the cashier that this was my first time, I was from out of town, but the 4.5 star reviews sent me here hungry and wanting to know more. I was able to sample the beans, the green bean casserole, the twice baked potatoes, and a rib. Everything was A-MAZ-ING!!! It had the right amount of seasoning and flavor to tickle every taste bud on my tongue. After a long period of deep thought, I decided on getting what the patron before me ordered since he ordered very matter-of-factly and that was the Texas Tornado. The meat was super tender and everything meshed well together despite my apprehension. They have 4 types of BBQ sauces, but my favorites were their Gold Rush, a mustard-based sauce, and the Spicey, a hot barbecue sauce which was not too hot but had enough kick to bring the heat.
This is my first time in the Bee Cave Area, but I would definitely come back just to visit S.L.A.B BBQ & Beer again. As a true Houstonian, I was concerned about what SLAB stood for and was worried about cultural appropriation. Although a themed restaurant, it was done in a tasteful manner that did not make me think this was a misuse of black and hip hop culture to sell a quick bbq plate.
Side note: Angel, one of the managers came by to check on us and was a joy to speak with. He really wanted to ensure that we had a great customer experience and that is just what it was. He even had some banana pudding sent over to make sure we got the full SLAB experience. I'm not even a fan of banana pudding but this had flavor. **It also had a cookie in the mold of Tupac. The attention lies in the details here.
My only drawback is that if you spend more than 20 minutes in here you will be coming out smelling like you've spent hours at a backyard BBQ. That's not a bad thing though, because you can taste the true smokey flavor in the meats.
This place is amazing, so glad that it opened close to home. Had the pulled pork sammich and it melted in my mouth. Can not wait to come back and try the brisket and other things. Wife enjoyed a nice craft beer while we ate. They have a good selection and the staff was great. Even has some outdoor seating!
Very happy with my visit! We had a coupon for free small nachos so we decided to come check the place out. We sat at the bar and was served my a very friendly and knowledgeable bartender. They also had a walk up counter and additional seating inside as well as an outdoor deck area. The place was very clean and well designed. Then the food started coming out and it was amazing. The nachos were crispy and loaded with pork and queso and bbq sauce. I had chicken, pork, and brisket sliders and my wife had the Donk deconstructed sandwich and we shared green bean casserole and smoked gouda mac and cheese! We washed it all down with an IPA and cider and for dessert I had a nitro cold brew coffee on draught! Wil definitely be back and will be a staple for good bbq!
Def one of my fav BBQ spots in all of Texas. I love to come to this location so I can bowl and eat the yummy bbq! The ribs and brisket are out of this world and def get the banana pudding! 10/10
Great place. They serve some creative sandwiches which just work fine. Loads of different beers from local stuff to popular brands. Nice staff. The interior could be improved but I guess that's just me speaking as a European guy. The food was great, and that's what is important!
i realllllly wish i could give them a fifth star because the taste was really good on the el jefe but there were a couple issues for at my sandwich were a bit of a bummer. first, it wasn’t very hot temperature wise, and secondly the sauce was a bit disappointing. what was good was the brisket, it was delicious, i just wish it had been hot.
Slab BBQ is a hole in the wall spot for good eats and beer. The potato salad was creamy but needed some tang. Watch the coleslaw, it’s got some heat! The ribs are nice and tender. The rub stands alone, but the strawberry habanero glaze compliments nicely. Good selection of local cans and bottles, limited draft options.
Didn't even know this place existed , it's tucked away and easy to miss. Dynamite food , I had the chopped brisket sandwich and slaw and it was top notch. Nice outdoor seating area, and nice taps . Pleasantly surprised and impressed.
The food was great!!! I got ribs with my mac which was absolutely splendid!! Would love to come and try some sliders next time.
Second visit to this BBQ brand. First visit was Central location. Both times only had their specialty sandwich The Donk. Just try it. The wrap version is possibly even better. I am certain this is one of the more creative BBQ joints in the area. Honestly surprised it hasn’t got the hype it deserves. Never too busy there which is a relief compared to other over hyped options around. Great service, and cool place to hang out. Try it before there is a line out the door cause it will happen one day.
I would love it if you could offer Miller-Coors on draft. Or bottles at the very minimum. The Austin beers are a little too rich for your delicious food.
I didn’t know what to try first so i ordered the Slab Slider Trio.
I called the order in for pick up and the lady on the phone was friendly and patient.
The food was fast, it was in my lap within 15 minutes on a Saturday at 5:pm (place is 5 minutes from my house)
Yup! The chicken was spicy and I’m a wimp so i passed that one to my hubby who said it was good.
The brisket was amazing! Only thing i wished i would have requested extra bbq sauce with my to go order, both the brisket and pork were light to no sauce.
One thing that did it for me here was the buns! I would love to know what bakery they get their buns from because they are perfectly amazing!!!!
And the mac n cheese was a winner, it has a light smoky taste that is unique and the texture was good (not mushy)
The Cole slaw is very unique, i don’t prefer it (i like the sweeter versions) but it’s good on the sandwiches for sure!
