The establishment has ensured safety for all patrons! It’s a quite yet cozy little spot. Was walking by when the workers where putting out the sign so decided to stop on by. This is my first experience here at Slake. Such friendly and open environment! I ordered the : Lemon poppyseed muffin This is so yummy! I will say because it’s such a big muffin that there are parts that are more dryer throughout as I’m eating this muffin. The texture is what you expect minus some dryer parts. Overall it’s was an amazing muffin and space that is why they got all 5s!!!

The food was delicious and brought out quickly even though they were very busy and only had two waiters. The waiters were super nice and respectful. The food prices were actually pretty cheap for the good quality. They also have a full bar I didn't get a drink so I can't comment on the prices. All in all great experience definitely recommend.

I got the bacon egg and cheese "biscuit" it's still more like a bun but it really works! They use shredded cheese..I wanted to go w American but it's not available, but again..it all works and it was really good! The bacon jam is cold ..it has a good taste it's like bacon bits w jam mixed in...if it was warm I would have liked it more, glad I ordered regular bacon instead of just bacon jam and got that stuff on the side. The eggs were fluffy so, I was impressed w that lol.

Excellent breakfast and top flight service. If you're staying in downtown Austin and looking for breakfast, you can't go wrong with Slake. It's counter service, but with an emphasis on SERVICE. The person at the counter was super friendly, answered our questions, and provided useful recommendations. The food was fresh, satisfying, and exactly what we were looking for. We had struggled to find a decent breakfast in Austin and wished we had found Slake earlier. If you're a traveler looking for friendly service, good food, and a socially responsible restaurant this place is for you.

Quick friendly service. Had a Groupon for a discount and was treated great. Will be back for more! Dirty Bird Sandwich was dripping with Smoked Gouda Queso! 😋

Seems like a solid place for a hearty breakfast and awakening coffee. Lengthy menu. The only minus is a downtown location = 🤕parking. Better keep change in pocket or come early or walk. Pay attention to the hours!

Update: We've returned back to the office and I've been hoping to find a usual spot given that several locations have closed or changed their hours since the pandemic. I chose to revisit Slake. I went for lunch by myself, then another day with a coworker, and another day with another coworker, and yet again by myself within a 2 week period. So it would go without saying I've found my usual spot. Delicious Dirty Cow Burger, Loaded Fries, Mac and Cheese, Caprese sandwich, side mixed greens salad, and Mr. Biscuit breakfast sandwich, and solid drip coffee, plus coffee with a cause (pic included). I may continue until I've tried one of everything on their menu! Service was spot on and food was finger-licking good each time. *********** Today was my first visit to Slake Café with coworkers. I was looking forward to the visit in hopes of finding a go-to lunch spot close to work. Unfortunately, I was slightly disappointed. I had the Bahn Mi sandwich which was on the dry side (I recommend trying a salad instead, my coworkers seemed to like theirs). When I ordered the sandwich, our server asked if I'd like to make it an Express Combo, which comes with a cup of soup (or chips) and a drink, so I said sure and asked if I could choose any of the drinks listed under "Beverages", and she said yes. This wasn't the case - I ordered a Topo Chico and was charged an additional $2. One of my coworkers overheard her say yes to my question and had ordered a TX Tea. When we got our checks, my coworker asked why he was charged for his drink and our server said only Iced Tea or Fountain Drinks were included. One, a Topo Chico is cheaper than their Fountain Drinks, and two, if we ordered drinks that weren't included, it would be nice to be told that on the front end, even though I explicitly asked beforehand. Although, to our server's defense, she may have been stretched thin with the lunch rush. Perhaps better coverage during the lunch rush is needed.

I was looking a place like this while here in Austin. A small cafe, with a fabulous meal and this place is it. Here is the Dirty Biscuit, which was delicious. A great hip spot to have a coffee and a biscuit. Highly recommended trying it one time.

Stumbled upon Slake since it was on the same block as our hotel. What a gem! Cozy breakfast spot in the middle of downtown. Easy walk from most hotels. Great coffee, and friendly staff. The fresh salsa for the tacos was also incredible. We were impressed to find out the establishment also supports a non profit that helps build wells in Africa for villages to have access to fresh water. We were able to buy some whole bean coffee that further supports those efforts!
