First time here. The feel of the restaurant is amazing. The restaurant design really enhanced my experience here. I picked teriyaki chicken. It comes with chicken, mushrooms, assorted vegetables, and your choice of rice. I went with fried rice. Besides the great taste of the chicken and vegetables, the fried rice surprised me. It has a unique flavor that I have not seen in other places that serve fried rice in the area. The serving size for the amount you pay is reasonable. My server was very friendly. The food did take a little while to come out even though the place was almost empty at the time. Other than that, a very pleasant experience. --4.25 stars

One of the only Japanese restaurants with dine-in available. Freshly cooked hot food and attentive service, Interior is clean, simple, and proper. Cemented, wooden, with white chairs... this makes the space bright. Ceiling to floor windows that allows you to people-watch. All items besides sushi are available. Kirin beer is available, but it was unknown if there was Asahi. Food came out neatly presented, with rice was served separately in bowls; half of the plate was filled with vegetables. Social distancing and masks were complied with. Pleasant meals. Thanks!

Popped in for a quick lunch since I was within walking distance of the restaurant (at UT for a conference). I was seated quickly and the staff was nice and polite. The promise of sushi brought me in, but they don’t start serving rolls until 4pm, so they lost a star for that. I ended up with a deliciously unhealthy Tempura veggies, shrimp and rice dish. Next time I would go for a “cleaner” dish. But it was very tasty. I was in and out of there in less than 45 mins and for under $15.

A great find and even better meal. Very tasty. We had the teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef. Lucia was our server and wonderful. Thumbs up from my crew.

Quant little place. Quick to receive our food, as it was the middle of the day during the week. I don't remember the name of the dish I ordered, but it was simple and highly enjoyable.

Had a business luncheon here the other day. The appetizer chicken was really good. Loved the sauce with it. I got a noodle dish, can't remember the name. It wasn't bad at all. It just needed a bit more sauce. I'm excited about visiting more often and trying more on their menu.

This place has a great Zen atmosphere. My faves are the beef tatami and using noodles.

First time here. Interesting. Cant get sushi till 4 pm. But I did get a 5 piece sushi for $10. 2 scallop, 2 tuna, 2 salmon. And a small.house salad for 3.50. My husband got the shrimp tempura and really enjoyed it. Wait staff were very polite. The only negative was how loud it was in the restaurant. Not good acoustics. Very hard to have a conversation especially if someone has hearing loss in one ear.

Was excellent food! Loved the Japanese fried chicken with eggs. It is usually very crowed at lunch, and does not serve sushi until after 4pm. They do not take digital payments apple pay or Android pay. They do have some outside seating.

Good, affordable, & healthy. Too bad sushi only available after 4. Went with a vegan, lacto intolerant, gluten free client. Said she never has this many choices.

Great underrated place produces consistently outstanding and fresh offerings. The very authentic and simple teppan lunches are really amazing, and one of my favorite lunches in Austin. Especially the grilled tofu with fried rice (comes with an amazing ginger sauce and stir fried vegetables), but they are all excellent.

The food is constantly excellent! This is one of my favorite Asian places in Austin and I'll bet few people are familiar with it. Michael will help with your selections and make sure you have a great experience.

Tofu udon soup had a lot of flavor, noodles were perfectly done! Tofu Mabo had great spicy kick to it. I look forward to trying their yaki udon and teppan yaki. Nice ambience, good service; cute spot. There is paid parking around, including street meter parking, which is free after 6pm (last time checked, but don't quote me on that). Definitely recommend!

We have been going to Lavaca teppan for years, and it never disappoints. Service is top notch, food is unbeatable for affordable Japanese food in Austin. We love the teriyaki beef teppan yaki, but we’ve tried the sushi, tempura, and other items on the menu and the quality never disappoints.
