You have to check out this place. I will start with saying the place is beautiful and has an open kitchen, so if you can get a seat at the bar you get to see how they are making all the pasta and get the amazing aroma of everything being put together in the kitchen. Also.. their patio has this magical huge tree surrounded by tealights in the middle of a lively neighborhood, so you get this magically lit nature space WITH people watching :D
Now for the food.. the lasagna... I have never cared for lasagnas but this one was AMAZING, they use spinach pasta and the combination of whatever other magic they put in place, made for a perfect combination of soft plump delicious clouds in my mouth. The home made raviolis were a close second and absolutely delicious. They bring in the burrata from Italy, I def recommend getting that.. and of course the proscuitto.. I ate three different kinds and could have definitely kept on going... Now the pizzas.. I must mention their tomato sauce was perfectly sweet yet savory and it left an incredibly fresh and gentle taste in my mouth that I couldn't stop going back to, I enjoyed it fully on each of the pizzas, they were so simple, yet somehow perfectly satisfying.
And last but never least.. OMG the desserts, we had the tiramisu and the grapefruit meringata.. everyone was fighting over the tiramisu so I quietly ate pretty much all the grapefruit one before I even dared to mention how amazing it was, and let me tell you that was super intentional.. it was so fresh and fruity and flowery - I could taste the rose (which is hard to find) and had all sorts of textures in there, every single bite was heaven, then I went over to the tiramisu and had a strong closed with the sauce that I imagine was cacao or espresso with that perfectly airy cake.. definitely going back for more
Our new fave. The service is as amazing as the food and wine. Beautiful setting and a wonderful place for happy hour, date night, or dinner with friends. Delightfully authentic!!
A must place to eat in Austin! Delish food and exceptional service!
Wonderful experience and incredible food and decor! Patio is a must!!
Go there as soon as you can! Such great athmosphere and the food was excellent!
The food here was yummy across the board! Everything was delicious, Brian our waiter was knowledgeable and pleasant and the huge tree in the center of the outdoor seating area is definitely a statement piece. Our large group unfortunately was not sat together despite our tables being relatively close to each other. When asked if we could pull them closer we were given a hard no. Aside from that, we all enjoyed the meal and ambiance.
Loved it. For me, the pizza dough is very important when it comes to a good pizza, and i could've keep eating and eating more, it was so tasty.
The Heirloom Tomatoes with Burrata was surprisingly our favorite dish, full of flavor.
The pasta was good, out of the two we had I liked the Cacio e Pepe more.
My highlight was that they didn't have a Limoncello Spritz on the menu, I asked if they could make one for me, and they did! So appreciated.
Service was great, friendly, resourceful. We had a great time here.
Would recommend outdoor seating if the weather allows it, but indoor seating is pretty comfortable as well.
Great food and ambiance. Service was excellent as well. We ordered the scallops for appetizers, squid ink pasta with sea urchin and papardelle. Paired with white and red wine, which the servers are well versed in. Ordered the tiramisu cake too which was excellent! Portions are not too large. They are just nice!
Lovely waiter. Loved the dark moody walls. The place was hopping on a Monday glad we snagged a reservation. Olives, mussels and pizza all shared with orange wine. Who knew orange was the new red?
Well worth it. The food is amazing and unique. So many things are made in the pizza oven including the addictive bread!Lively atmosphere and welcoming staff. Extremely attentive and we felt pampered and not rushed. Great patio and plenty of seating at pizza bar or regular bar. It’s perfect for dining solo, date night spot or with a group of friends.
One of my favorite spots in Austin. Authentic Italian experience down to their selection of amari, aperitif, vermouth, and digestif. Food is delicious. The staff always has something extra special in store. Servers, hosts, and bartenders have always been amazing since I started going. And one of the best happy hours in town with $15 pizzas at the bar and half price all alcohol!
Always great service (Christina is the best) and experience. The lasagna is our favorite in Austin! The cocktails can’t be missed!
I’ve been to Il Brutto twice now and it’s solid! A bit expensive but the food is very good. Tips: it’s better for a smaller group or a date than a big group, the agnolotti is incredible (though the portion is small), and the heirloom tomatoes with burrata are amazing.
Had a Birthday dinner here and everything was delicious! Made reservations a few weeks before. The star of the night though was the Beef Tenderloin, simply exquisite as well as the mussels! Those were our favs of the night!
The gave birthday ice cream and lemoncello shots at the end of the night! Great spot for a special occasion!
It was a cold day when I stopped by, but the warm atmosphere at the bar is one that I’ll be back for. We ordered appetizers, main course, dessert and espresso. Loved everything! The portions are great size so you actually have room for dessert. The GNOCCHI is hands down the best I’ve ever had. Be sure to stop in here.
We had a fantastic experience at Il Brutto! Tomas, our bartender/server, was truly outstanding! He was so attentive, friendly, laid back, professional, and a million other positive adjectives that I could use to describe how awesome he was. He made our whole experience absolutely fabulous! Now, let's talk about the food! It was AMAZING!! We had mussels and a margarita pizza...and both were mouth-watering bits of heaven! I would give this restaurant and its service 10 stars if Google would let me! :)
Thank you for a wonderful evening and delicious dinner!
The pizza is hands down the best of what we tried! However, much like other restaurants in Austin, the portions are a bit small for the price. A small bowl of pasta at $28 seems a bit steep (see cacio e Pepe pasta photo below). The vibe is great outside but the high top tables almost feel like a different restaurant (paint peeling in wall by our table).
We enjoyed our service, it was was prompt and she amazing with accommodations.
Everything was very good. The service from Dashawn (spelling might be wrong) was excellent. He really made the evening special with his attention to detail. He knows when to be at the table and when not to be.. a hard balance that many servers struggle with. The broccolini and crostini were delicious appetizers. I would recommend both. I really like an authentic bolognese sauce so I decided to try the lasagna. I would normally steer clear of lasagna since it can sometimes be a bit boring. This option had a bit of a twist by having what I'd describe as a pizza crust or quiche type crust on the bottom. I would have liked more layers with more sauce and ricotta. It was still good but not my favorite. My wife had the steak which was cooked perfectly. The tiramisu and gelato were really good as well. Apparently the espresso martini was really good too.. my wife kept mentioning how much she liked the 2 she had. Overall everything was really good and the service was excellent. I just left wanting a bit more for the price tag.
🍕🍝 Il Brutto🍝🍕
Il Brutto was delicious! The food was very good, but there were some misses. Went with a large group of people and was blessed to try so many dishes on the menu. The pizza was very good as well.
The atmosphere was 10/10 - great mood setting, lighting was intimate, music was great, restaurant was popping and full, staff was very well trained and very professional - amazing!
The highlights:
- Pappardelle : this was amazing, and so rich in flavor - meat was so tender.
- Ciriole: this was very good and lightly seafood-esque , flavor was so unique so that was amazing.
- Margarita pizza: this was so surprisingly good , just so fresh and flavorful - shockingly a standout
- Burrata pizza: the cold Burrata on the warm pizza was fantastic
- Zucca Pizza: so unique and perfectly balanced for the squash to pizza. The pizza was perfection.
Overall Il Brutto was fantastic! A very good spot to go for a large group and fancier meal.
Italian? Yes please. This authentic Italian restaurant has such an excellent food you would just order more to go and that's what I did!. I'll leave you with the photos as I can't give the food it's worth with just text. I ordered the tiramisu to go and woh it was something else, better than the one I had in Venice. Enjoy.
Always great food and service. I’d recommend not sitting outside due to the grackles yelling throughout your meal, but other than that everything was lovely. I especially appreciated how accommodating they are to vegans, and really enjoyed the aperitif sampler they have on offer. Everything tastes fresh and decadent, and the free house made limoncello shots at the end of the meal really set the tone for the whole experience. If I had one suggestion, it would be to put the vegan pasta option as a named menu item so I don’t have to specially request it every time.
Probably the best Italian food & dessert we have had in a while! Incredible taste and flavors throughout the meal…appetizer to dessert!! The house limoncello was a nice touch. There was nothing ordinary about anything we tasted last night. Loved the outdoor patio and live music. Free parking at the Arnold parking garage was a nice perk. Totally recommend trying this restaurant!
