Our first night in Austin was hi-lighted by this awesome cocktail/live music bar. The drinks were phenomenal and the 8 piece funk band, that is a staple every Sunday, was wildly talented and entertaining. The bar is in the Rainey street district, which is a “must visit” area when in Austin.
Fun bar! Crowded but good local prices!
Good after dinner drinks, you can go and sip on a drink and solve the world's problems. Good drink selection and they even have whiskey ice cubes!
I visited Austin three years ago and could not wait to come back here. I just recently moved here and went back, was sad to see the bartender whom I enjoyed so much last time wasn't there. But the other staff was friendly and very helpful. I love whiskey and this is a great spot with a nice quaint out door area. Was also sad to see that big huge building ruin the view. But hey...will always be one of my favorite places in Austin.
This place is Great. I usually go on Sunday's around 10pm for some live music. The decor is 50's style art which is kind of trippy. The back patio is pretty nice as well and the drink Whiskey selection is phenomenal. The bartenders are very friends too, i've gotten a number of free shots for no reason at all.
I really like this place, vintage theme with a great back yard. Good place to see live bands and fun out hangout with your friends. They have a good selection of beers and other drinks too. I wish I lived next store, I would be here everyday.
Awesome! Found it on a Sunday night when the house funk band was in full groove. So fun! Huge patios, outdoors or in the mood is great...they mean it when they greet you with a "welcome to Blackhearts"! Dog friendly of course. Beer and bourbon lovers Rejoice... you've found a home on Rainy St!
This place gives me a 1920's french feel and I love it! The drinks are crafted well and the bartenders are very laid back. I attended Black Heart Bar for a show from a local Austin theatre company that partnered with the magazine Velvet Dust...I loved the performance from the theatre company and from the live band. I've been back a couple of times and will definitely keep doing so!
Great outdoors space and always a fresh band!
I had a great time here cruising through and seeing some live music on both the indoor and outdoor stages. There's always somewhere to sit or stand without being in bumper to bumper shoulder traffic. Its definitely got that cool Austin vibe.
I was at the Blackheart for Harry Potter trivia, so it was understandably packed ;) Nice atmosphere, good cocktails. Their special was a really great deal, too -- a premium local whiskey for just $5!
Authentic Austin and underrated bar on Rainey. Always has a live band inside and sometimes outside, it is a good music spot to discover artists and there is no cover. Outdoor seating it the front and back. It feels a little like a house party inside, but the vibe is more upscale, just wish it was more rowdy and the drinks were cheaper and less 'craft'
Funky Sunday is awesome. Big Britches is one of the best bands, if not the best, I've seen lately. So much fun!! Gotta check this out if you are in Austin in a Sunday
With its abundant live music and dimly-lit outdoor spaces, The Blackheart is the type of place you can settle in for the night and completely lose track of time.
Choose your own atmosphere here--the front has great people watching, the inside is an intimate concert venue, and the back is an open communal area with an eclectic crowd and beautiful view of the downtown high-rises. And you can hear the music from wherever you choose to settle, so you won't miss out on any of the action.
The Moscow Mule seems to be the drink of choice. I noticed that at least one person in every group was sporting a copper mug. And although the bars were busy, the bartenders were attentive and the wait wasn't long.
I look forward to spending many more moonlight-bathed nights here!
Really cool backyard area with live music. Great piece of Rainey St. Sometimes it can get ridiculously crowded though. When that happens, I turn around and leave. There's no use in trying get a drink when it's packed to the rafters.
great inside bar / patio out back. converted house on Rainey St. decent prices for Rainey St. and great sound system in the back stage area. the bathrooms are only a few stalls, so plan ahead!
