This place is great! The food is delicious. Great people, great atmosphere. We had brunch there yesterday, and went back this morning for breakfast. Probably will be our place for breakfast every day that we're in town. The lunch menu looks good as well.
Small place so wait time a little long, but worth it!!!
Great service and entertainment sitting at counter watching the cooks do their magic! The food, wonderful! Great carafe of mimosas to wash it all down!
Came to Austin for the weekend for a job interview. Stumbled upon this gem after getting coffee at Cuvée. Seriously some of the best food and service! I had the breakfast tacos (which were my first since coming to the city) and turned me into a believer. The place was so great, I came back the next day and got the hot cake! One is more than enough and adding the blueberries made it perfection! My husband got the Counter Burger and that was another winner! This will be a regular spot if we move
Excellent food both times I've eaten here, breakfast or lunch. Drop in, Lizzie will take good care of you.
Love this cafe! The breakfast tacos are delicious and the staff is so friendly. It's a great place to meet friends and family for breakfast!
The food and service were amazing! Great recommendations from the wait staff and pork chop breakfast is the best
Wonderful food and service! Really recommend it
been a customer at the other location for years... Great fresh farm to table local food prepared with care...good specials and happy hour 2-4... they close at 4pm
What a great lunch. We had the Counter Burger, the roll was absolutely outstanding. The French Fries were great also.
The food was tasty and the staff was awesome! They made my baby boy feel so special for his birthday breakfast. We felt right at home. Definitely going back next time we're in town.
The food was awesome !!! Everything that we ordered was great ,the people, the weather, we will keep going there next time
Perfectly presented diner options. Delicious. And excellent service!
Quail & Eggs or Crab Cakes Benedict....both excellent choices. And don't forget the freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice, so good! Fantastic place!
Best breakfast in Austin. The biscuits and gravy are theeee besssst. If you haven't tried it and you live in Austin then you are missing out big time. Another thing that makes this place so awesome is the service, especially when Maria is working. Also, they are pet friendly and bring your furry pal a bowl of water to keep them hydrated. :)
Yummmmmmie! Great food! Great service! Lots of food!
The food is always delicious!!! Thanks for breakfast
OMG ! One wrd awesomeness
We just goggle vegan places
This popped up an we took a chance my mouth belly an my mom are highly pleased we will be back
I mean this place is seriously delicious. What is not to LOVE!
Don't order the stack of blueberry pancakes, unless you have three other people willing to help you eat them!
Ok, I'm in love! Counter Benedict is my new favorite breakfast!! They had me at pastrami!! Breakfast gem!
Austin original on the Eastside. Same great food at a second location. Damn good grub!!
Everything was delicious, our waiter was very attentive and it’s a very cute environment. The only complaint I have is how long we waited for our food. Otherwise everything was great.
I got the honey butter chicken biscuit which was very fresh, kinda a chicken fried steak consistency so very crunchy and add some honey to it & it’s top notch! The other plate is the French toast special. it’s THE BEST FRENCH TOAST IVE EVER HAD.
Counter Cafe is an incredible little spot. True to diner fashion. It does have table service. The breakfast is awesome and the Counter Burger is the best ever! A great crowd in here staff and patrons alike. It’s such a pleasure that this esteemed establishment is now in my neighborhood.
Sitting outside is good when the weather permits. Staff is very friendly and social. The food arrives in a reasonable amount of time. Would highly recommend to my family and friends!
Local cafe serving breakfast and lunch. Open kitchen, so if you sit at the counter you can watch them whip up your food!
The service is usually pretty quick and the food is consistent. I personally like the biscuits and gravy, and enjoy their Bloody Mary. They only offer drip coffee and the sugar never pours out of the dispenser (I typically unscrew the lid to scoop it out). If they offered espresso drinks I would enjoy breakfast much more. Their fresh squeezed orange juice is insanely refreshing and is the main reason my husband votes to eat there.
I have always wanted to try this place where every time swing by there is no parking left and figured I arrived too late. But this time around I was dedicated to dine here even if I had to wait a long time. When I pulled in to the parking lot once again it seemed like every spot was taken until I found one. It was the last one, but my luck was not over yet. When my wife and I walked inside it was very busy but there was two spots open at the chef’s table which was bar-type seating. We could watch food getting prepared right in front of us. I was excited.
The menu consisted of breakfast and lunch served until 3:00 PM. I decided to order a Top Chico and the Quail & Eggs. My wife ordered the Pork Chop & Fries. The place was packed and the attentive staff keeping up quite good with the customers. There was inside and outside seating but not a big place. I just felt lucky everything fell place to be able to park and seated so quickly.
I watch my quail as it cooked on the grill and admired the plates of food ready to be served to customers. They all look marvelous and soon mine was ready to be placed in front of me. It was beautifully presentable with a whole piece of grilled quail, two sunny side up eggs, breakfast potatoes and homemade biscuit. My wife’s pork chop looked and smelled good with fries and salad. My quail tasted excellent and was basically boneless except the legs and wings. It had great flavor and with soft meat. The eggs tasted farm fresh for it had dark yellow yolks. Along with the potatoes and biscuit I truly enjoyed it all.
I cleaned my plate clean and headed to my wife’s to taste the pork chop. It was a half inch cut pork chop cooked with nice seasonings and tasted really good.
Perhaps next time will enjoy the blueberry hot cakes I saw get served to another customer.
This was great! Came on. Sunday morning so it was pretty busy. The crab cake and chicken biscuit was FIRE. Didn’t care for the tangy Caesar dressing but the honey butter is crazy good.
Been here a couple times now. One of the best diners in the neighborhood. Full breakfast and lunch menu. Went on a Monday and was still busy Id expect a wait on weekends. Service was fast and friendly. The pancake was good a little sweet for my liking. The grits weren’t traditional southern grits they had peppers and a few other things not my favorite but they were good. Prices are very fair for the neighborhood I’d give a try!
Limited seating, good brunch, but amazing service!!! It’s a small brunch place with really close seats but the menu is simple and our hostess, server, and food runner were all kind and had smiles on their face despite it being busy! I also didn’t realize it was a farm-to-table restaurant so it’s cool to support local farmers! The hashbrowns were sooo fresh and crunchy and the Counter Benedict’s were so good!
We came, we conquered, and we enjoyed great breakfast food, great counter service, and met great hard-working members of the staff. Coffee was great. They had NOPALES & SCRAMBLED EGGS ON CHALK BOARD SPECIAL, and I LOVED them. My darling wife had JOE'S SPECIAL, I HAD YELLOW CORN TORTILLA NOPALES& EGGS, and I had STEAK & EGGS, ( HANGER STEAK) COOKED PERFECTLY. FRESHLY SQUEEZED LEMONADE. Simply put, it was a fantastic breakfast. We loved so much we went back the following morning. Look into going early, summer great and lemonade goes hand in hand m, cool off and enjoy AUSTIN-ITES 😉 FAVORITE counter spot. Two great locations
This cafe embraces a modern yet authentic spin on traditional American diner food. They serve meals that you know ingredientes are locally sourced, fresh in flavor.
The atmosphere was very relaxing and nice. Service was great. Great option for lunch. I had a tasty Spinach Salad with Chicken.
The crab cake comes with an amazing peanut sauce and lemon aioli. I also tried the French toast special which was amazing, I wish it was permanently on the menu, looking forward to trying the biscuits and gravy.
The food was super delish and our server was fantastic! They got us in quick but there was definitely a sizable wait so be aware of that!
I had the crabcakes Benedict, the crabcake themselves were kind of skimpy, and the hollandaise sauce was a little too lemony. Atmosphere was nice. Service was OK. I felt they had a nice selection on their menu. I would go back.
Casual diner style eatery.
The food was good and the service was top notch. Vibe was chill and people were having their breakfast and going about their ways full and satisfied.
Food:
Only did breakfast.. Had biscuits and gravy, the special peach fruit pancake (special because the fruit or filling changes every so often), and the crab cake eggs benedicts. It was a lot of food but all was tasty and no leftovers, hah. The biscuits and gravy weren't hot enough like they were sitting out a bit too long before getting to the table, not a big deal, still good. The pancake was light and fluffy with sliced peaches embedded throughout. Crab cake Benedict was mid and pricey, not bad but Id get something else next time. Overall, good breakfast food.
Service:
Good service, attentive and friendly waiter, no complaints.
Price:
Typical prices. No complaints.

This place is great for breakfast! I enjoy this place always. Good food, nice staff, quick service, always packed but that’s a good sign.
What a cool place for breakfast. We had the counter experience by sitting at the counter and we could watch the cooks make some great meals. The porkchop was perfect and the pancakes were huge. Check place out!
Great food and service. This was the second time I've eaten here and I got breakfast. Last time I got the burger and it was very good. The fries were great too and I definitely recommend going for happy hour to get the discounted burger. I got Joe's Special, which was excellent and my partner got the Crab Cakes Benedict which also was great and the egg yolks were the perfect consistency. 10/10 would recommend
This is truly one of my favorite breakfast spots in Austin! Couldn’t wait to get back to the city to have my hotcakes and home fries with sausage patties!!! This time I tried the apple cinnamon pancakes. Yummy!!!
