I gave this place a higher rating on yelp, but since being overcharged, which I didn't expect after such a nice meal. It appears they're charging gringos more, or they just haven't updated their menus to reflect accurate prices. It was delicious, but think I'll look for another place the next time I have a craving for Cuban.

I've eaten at this place a good amount and they never disappoint. I ordered El Cubanito Burger, papa Rellena,Carne Con Papa, Empanadas The burger was massive and packed with the meats and seasoned greatly as the papa rellena looks interesting when first trying it but I love it. I got two empanadas as one was beef and the other was chicken. Not my favorite but it's edible, the Carne con papa is delicious whenever. Next day if you want but I really enjoy it as it comes off as family home cooked meals and such a hardy dish that the meat is tender and flavored right.

I want to express that this place is a blessing. The entire work team, from the waiters, cooks and bakery, always welcome us with a smile. We visit the restaurant frequently and it feels like being at home. The food, the desserts, the atmosphere, a very clean and cozy place. The kitchen is open giving you the opportunity to see the food handling and cleaning. God bless you all and give you many years of success.

This is the only place ever that I have found that serves Costa Rican cuisine. Although it is a Cuban restaurant, they have arroz con pollo a la tica which was phenomenal. I will definitely be coming back

It was my first time trying Cuban style sandwiches. I got the medianoche and the Cuban one. The sandwiches comes with lays chips. I think out of the two, the medianoche one was the best. Our waiter likes that one too. Overall, I think sandwiches were good. It was packed well with meat, and there was pickles in there too. I also ordered their tamale too. I think the tamale flavor was really good. It’s a bit different from the regular Mexican tamales, but the flavor was similar. I think the one I got was pork. They also have a bakery in there, but I haven’t tried the desserts. Our waiter was friendly too.

ADA wheelchair accessible. Beautiful chairs and great bar. A bakery full of fresh pastries. Great Cuban food at a reasonable price. Delicious food. No patio for dogs 😢 so keep them home. Great staff.

Wonderful experience for myself and my Cuban husband. Flavorful and plentiful plates of authentic Cuban food. We've tried a few Cuban restaurants in town and this one takes the prize for it's food, atmosphere and and affordable pricing. The bonus is the bakery with fresh Cuban bread. It is worth the drive. My mother is Cuban and approves this place! If you’re looking for a great quality dining experience, Tropicana is it! Delicious, well cooked food and everything was served FRESH! I just found my favorite spot!

Food was excellent, service was good then declined... owner or manager had to reprimand his servers then they started attending their customers (like little kids) 🙄 (they were not short staffed) Overall, will go back!

Favorite place for Cuban food in Austin. I’ve been looking for a place here with Cuban food like my hometown Miami. I’ve tried Cuba512 (not great), Habana (it’s okay), and Chicho’s (REALLY good, was my favorite before Tropicana, but it’s all the way in Pflugerville). Tropicana is by far the best Cuban food in Austin. The bistec de palomilla was top notch. Jugo de naranja natural and delicious mojitos. They also have imported drinks (Jupiña, iron beer, Materva, and Malta) AND batidos (guayaba, mamey, papaya, and others). We ordered pastelitos to go, which were also delicious. We’ll be back for sure! UPDATE: we went back a second time and ordered a bunch of desserts. They have Cuban dulce de leche, and it was perfection.

Lo mejor café com leche y congris cubano de Austin! Yes, in my opinion, Tropicana has the best cafe con leite in Austin. I love coming to Tropicana because besides the food being very delicious, the waitress and waiter are very friendly and courteous, and the place is clean with a pleasant ambiance. My most favorite foods here are the café con leche, the freshly squeezed orange juice and the beef and chicken empanadas. I have tried almost all of their menu items and insone believe you can go wrong with any of them. I personally like the pan con lechon and the pan con bistec from the sandwich menu. The bistec and the lechon dishes are also really good and the sides are very good as well. I love the pasta salad, their congris is outta this world. I think it even has little pieces of bacon or tocino. The sweet plantains and definitely the yucca. Although I don’t like the sauce that comes with the yucca but it’s a personal taste. Even their sauce which seems to be a mix of spicy ketchup and maionese is soooooo so good! There is also a huge variety of sweets and desserts. I’ve only had the flan and the tres leches cake which are really good. Overall, if you are Cuban or Latin you will appreciate the seasoning that you are used to back home, this is your place! If you are not, I don’t believe you will not like this place if you a appreciate really good and tasty food.
