Waterloo Ice House has gone from a place to eat to a place to meet. Both family and friends, and many of the friends are friends made from going to "The Loo" over the years. The food is always good as is the service. Both extremely consistent. From simple Queso to great burgers and chicken sandwiches to Emily's Pan-Roasted Chicken (yum). Great breakfasts too. From the top to the bottom of the menu...ALL GOOD. Get thee to Waterloo.

I live nearby and eat here often. The menu has a lot of variety and the staff are very friendly and many greet me by name (so, low staff turnover, so they must like working there, too). Favorites are their pan roasted chicken, queso chop steak, tortilla crusted catfish, and of course, tacos! Hope to see you there!!

The food is good, the staff is attentive, and the atmosphere is great. This place is so so versital: grab a quick breakfast , celebrate a birthday, watch a game, or bring in guests from out of town--Waterloo can do it all. I love eating here and I think you will too!

"Meet at "The Loo?" This has become our neighborhood mantra. The Loo is our "Cheers." It's where you can always go in and find, or make, a friend. Every single bartender there has a hand in this. They are inviting, welcoming, and just plain terrific people. We're so glad we found our Loo when we came here 8 years ago. Come check it out. You'll fit right in.

We have eaten lunch here many times, but stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I had the fried egg sandwich on Texas toast and my husband had the large stack of pecan pancakes. Both dishes were large and tasty. We had enough for another breakfast. They are very kid friendly with the menu, bringing food to squirmy kids quickly and a playground.

Waterloo is a great go-to place for standard American eclectic fare. From burgers to breakfast and Chicken Fried Steaks to full blooded cocktails, they have you covered for any hankering. I find myself going here about three to four times a month. My main choice of dinner entree is the Chicken Fried Chicken. For breakfast, I choose the scrambled eggs and biscuits with gravy. The biscuits, I should note, are huge and hearty; basically a meal in themselves. I can confidently state that 90% of the time Waterloo is spot-on with quality dishes, clean atmosphere and friendly wait staff. However, on this particular visit, my companion ordered poached eggs that were served under cooked, which was a rare error. Now you may say that poached eggs are supposed to be runny, but they should not resemble egg yolk soup! This small glitch in the system is easy enough ignored, though, in the long run. The restaurant also does well with catering to children, they have an attached playscape and playground area. Stop by for a weekend brunch on the patio and let your children run and play off all that excess energy while you watch from the table sipping on your favorite libation. Enjoy! Chicken Fried Steak review - nice breading to meat ratio with thin but crispy crust. The meat was medium tender, a knife was required but there was no chewiness to the meat. The cream gravy was lumpy, but I requested gravy on the side so it was not a deal breaker. Go with the mashed potatoes and a side salad. The cilantro lime dressing is tasty too. Chicken Fried Chicken: stopped in for a quick lunch and this dish was perfectly prepared and delicious. I preferred the chicken to the steak. The baked potato was also done perfectly today. Topped off with a cilantro ranch side salad and a friendly and attentive server… made for a fantastic lunch.

I had an outstanding dining experience at Waterloo, and Nate elevated it to perfection as our server. From the moment we sat down, Nate's warm and attentive demeanor set the tone for the evening. His knowledge of the menu was impressive, guiding us through the diverse offerings with enthusiasm. Nate's impeccable timing ensured each course arrived at our table with precision, enhancing the overall dining flow. The combination of Waterloo's delectable cuisine and Nate's exceptional service made this an unforgettable five-star dining experience. I highly recommend Waterloo, and if you're fortunate enough to have Nate as your server, you're in for a treat.

May 2023: The annual crawfish boil returns and this year have two options; either buy one plate (about 1 pound) or all-you-can-eat. You also had an option to add a link of sausage. There was also a polka band playing the in the covered patio area. The place was packed and even arrived early. The wait was about 30 minutes to be seated. My wife and I each ordered a plate and one with sausage. The crawfish was spicy and despite all the work to break the tails open it tasted good. It Included two small potatoes and a small corn on the cob. It was all fun and had a great time. April 2023: This time I once again had the Fish 'N Chips where the menu described the fish as hand-battered, crispy, light & delicious. It was served with hand-cut french fries, jalapeno tartar sauce & malt vinegar and for the first time a Yuengling Flight. It was a perfect choice as I sat at the bar. It is a great option if you want to be separated from kids where this place is very family friendly with a playground in the back. The fish tasted very good and easy to dip into the tartar sauce which both had great flavor. Just the right amount of fires compliment the meal. Meanwhile I enjoyed the light taste of the beer and was quite good. October 2022: It was Halloween and started off the day by enjoying the Waterloo Migas. The place was decorated nicely and like always the staff is very nice. The migas was truly a big meal that I made two tacos and still had enough for a third. The eggs was mixed well with its ingredients of cheese, tortilla chips, tomatoes, and jalapeños giving it great flavor. Basically it was a big plate of food. I enjoyed all with my cup of coffee with the Matthew McConaughey on the mug. The place is very kid friendly and casual serving the neighborhood well.

Yummy food & pleasant atmosphere. My son's a very picky eater & he surprisingly loved it all. Can't really go wrong with bacon, eggs & pancakes. Chicken & Waffles were delish. Chicken was a little underseasoned, but delicious all the same.

I love Waterloo ice house. The menu is diverse and I appreciate how gluten-free items are labeled. I dream about the gluten-free cinnamon pecan pancakes- they are delicious! What I love most is how the service is always on point. The people who work here are fantastic. And the food always comes fast! I never want to wait forever for food, so I love that. Also, it's family friendly if you have kids and dog friendly on the patio.

Visiting Waterloo Ice House was a great experience. We sat on the covered back patio area looking out into the playground. The playground was a great feature for our kids and they had a lot of fun! Our server was great. He pointed us in the right direction for their local beer options and suggested food for us to try. The food came out to the table quickly, was very good, and the portions were great for us. I would very much recommend visiting.

wanted a quick breakfast with friends. This was ideal. Service was friendly and prompt . There is merchandise but the food is still good. Several vegan options. My friends enjoyed pancakes and eggs. The wait w for a table was reasonable. Located in a strip centre there is ample parking.

We got seated fairly quickly. Our server was slow on greeting us and very slow on getting our order! We ordered an appetizer, but our food came out before the appetizer did? My burger was cold and had no flavor! Fried pickles came out after our meal and were hot but lacked flavor as well! Overpriced for what we got!

We had a delicious breakfast and the most pleasant experience. Weather was perfect for brunch on a long holiday weekend. Julia, our server had the most amazing attitude. You could tell she enjoyed serving her guests and she was lovely to us all around. The food came out promptly and everything was delicious, good portions and great presentation. The manager came to our table towards the end of our meal to greet us and ask about our experience. 5 stars all around!! We will be back for sure when visiting Austin in the future.

The bartender was great, and they made my hamburger exactly how I like it. I can't ask for much more than that.
