Love El Faro! It's a small family owned restaurant where they take pride in what they do! Definitely a must try! Great enchiladas and the chicken fajitas are to die for!
Small but nice dining area .... Small but nice dining area
Great service
El Alambre is a must have!!
Great Mexican Buffet lunch.. $7.99 includes: enchilada, chile relleno, Piccadillo charro beans and much more.. Good serve, clean and nice lunch environment..
AMAZING!!. We LOVE LOVE LOVE El Faro! The staff is super friendly, and they work really hard to make sure everyone is beyond happy. We like to go on Friday nights for the buffet so that we can have a variety of choices. El Faro serves great flavor with great prices. Everyone should definitely give it a try!

El Faro Taco is the best, most authentic Mexican food I've ever had. I could eat theit enchiladas for days. Not to mention the owners and their employees are amazing!!!
About the only place in town for REAL Mexican food, not Tex-Mex knock-offs. Small family owned restaurant with just about every typical Mexican dish there is. You have to give it a try!
Friday Night Buffet... Do It. Definitely get the buffet, which they offer Friday from 6pm - 9pm. That way, you don't have to choose just one thing.
In a city like Austin, it's really hard to get surprised by Mexican food. But, this place has flavors I haven't had anywhere in town. The puerco tres chiles is phenomenal. Simply chunks of tender pork and tender potato in a stew of chiles and, well, flavor, that will leave you baffled with how they got that much flavor in PORK. Not to mention the "Pollo Pepe", which is a nicely marinated boneless chicken shredded in nice large pieces and also uber-flavorful. The marinade reminded me of something Chinese, like soy and sweet together. Both of these meats make awesome little tacos on their homemade tortillas. Save room for the flan. It is made in-house and is creamy and delicious.
ps - I apologize if any of the dish names were butchered in this post.
My new favorite.... They have a pork dish on the buffet that is excellent. Very tender, well seasoned and not fatty. The chicken was also excellent, a little char but still moist and flavorful. Those two dishes seemed to have an influence from the islands. The chile rellano was good, filled with white cheese and still a little crunchy even though it was on the buffet. The cheese enchiladas were wrapped in what seemed to be homemade white corn tortillas. I ladled some of their smoky and mild salsa over them for added flavor. OK, it was a buffet so I ate a little too much but it was too good to not try a little of each. There were also soups, a variety of salsas and several other dishes that I didn't get to but that's just a matter of time. We topped it off with a slice of "my Mom made this today" Tres Leches. It was the best we've ever tried. Fresh, all the caramel flavors and not cloyingly sweet. Really the only word for it is perfect. The staff is very friendly and make sure you have a great time while you eat. We left happy, smiling and full. When is the last time you could say that about a restaurant? I also have a food blog at http://boldtalkfromagrumpyfatman.blogspot.com/
Best Mexican Food in Town!. We started going here on the weekends to get tacos in the morning and fell in love with the prices and the food. The family that runs El Faro are extremely friendly and enjoy making tasty food and taking care of their patrons. I feel guilty that the prices are so low.
Now, I drive down here from Dell maybe twice a week to get lunch. The service is fast and the buffets are excellent. I can think of nowhere else that you can get this same experience and great food.
If you have not tried El Faro's yet you will be amazed!
All YOU CAN EAT!!! GREAT!!!. OHH MY GOD!!!! THE BEST ALL YOU CAN EAT MEXICAN FOOD RESTAURANT!!!! Every friday me and my family go to El Faro to have the dinner special ALL U CAN EAT!!!! Mr. Jose cooks the best varaity of mexican food u can even imagine. Lots of different types of plates amazing!!! People ya'll have to try this small restaurant.... The all you can eat is on Wednesday and Thursday luch time and Friday dinner!!! It is amazing!!!
NOTE: Leave room for the Tres Leches cake. Is a home made cake. It is extremely difficult to dicribe how goood it is!!!!
Soooo glad I live nearby!. Ok, so I've been hanging out at this strip center for about 2 years, but just made the El Faro discovery on 18 April this year. OMG, soooooo glad that since I moved in September, my new home is less than half a mile from this fabulous restaurant! And glad that I can order food from them while hanging out next door at Rack Daddy's.
The service here is stellar, as is the food. Their salsas are tasty, their breakfast tacos yummy, and on the lunch/dinner menu I can tell you that pollo piki piki is my favorite, but I also love their tacos, chalupas, carna asada, cabrito, and chicken fajitas.
This is a great family-owned restaurant and my only complains are that they're closed on Monday, one of the nights I play poker next door, and that it's not bigger. I like that it's a hole in the wall, but really wish they could have more ample seating - on Sundays after people get out of church, it turns into a madhouse.
The best mexican food restaurant. Love El Faro so much, it motivated me to write my first Yelp review! Short version: a family-run, honest, and absolute delicious mexican restaurant you can visit over and over!
Not to be confused with average Mexican food, the dishes here are simply phenomenal. Enchiladas Mole to die for, bad-ass migas, and amazing tacos (the Pastor (Pork) are my favorite) are just but a few dishes I frequent.
Get the Mexican Coffee and migas on the weekend for instant hangover relief. Don Jose and his family make us feel like we're at home every time we come over. Don Jose tells me he uses fresh ingredients, because, "I have to eat the food, too!"
Bonus: You can order El Faro food while drinking next door at the bar!
Bonus 2: They have a lunch buffet on Wednesday and Thursday which is actually really good! There is also a dinner buffet on Friday evenings.
The Best Tacos And Cheap. Good tacos good price, I been going to this place for the past 6months and can't stop. These family is super nice; it makes me feel in home. The service is amazing. The food is really good!!! I love El Faro
The best Mexican food in central texas. WOW!!!! this is a little mexican spot at wells branch!! This restaurant is owned by a really nice family. The food is great and the salsas are awesome, my favorite dish is POLLO PIKI PIKI. It has this chipotle sauce with mushrooms; it's really good!!!
ya'll should go chek it out.
PS: the tres leches cake is awesome
Great Food. I've been to El Faro several times, and every time that I go, they give me another reason to go back. Everything that I've tried on the menu is delicious. The quality of their food is awesome. My favorite is the Las Verdes enchiladas; their tomatillo sauce is one of the most delicious that I've ever had.

The food at this family-owned restaurant is incredible. And so is the service.
Very fast service and clean. The food was very good. I recommend it for a nice cozy place to eat.
The Carne Guisada was tender and good flavor.
I went during lunch last Monday. This place has been on my list for a while and I finally had a chance to go.
The decor is odd but unique as the staff was cleaning up as it was empty. But welcomed me in and I ordered the menudo and two al pastor and two Barbacoa tacos plus shrimp Quesadilla.
While waiting for the food, I was given chips and salsa but the regular one is meant for folks with little taste buds, just ask the staff they'll give you the spicy one with lots of flavors.
The food was great as it was packed with flavor and seasoning. Definitely can't wait to go again especially around lunch time
The food is very good, portions are big and prices are reasonable. The restaurant looks clean and the staff is very friendly. Just keep in mind that the place is small so it can get packed quickly, specially on weekends. Food is made to order so if you are looking for a place to get a quick meal, this might not be a good choice for you unless you visit Tuesday through Friday from 11 AM to 1:30 PM when they offer lunch buffet.
The food is so fresh and it came out super fast. It’s full service but they let you order at the counter which is cool if you’re on a limited lunch break.
The salsas are next level. If you’re like me and like to apply liberally, watch out for the red salsa, it’s hot!
The waitress was super sweet. The food was delicious and came out fairly quickly. It's a tiny place. We actually ate there versus ordering out.
We loved it. 4 picky contractors all absolutely cleaned the plates, so good! It was not busy at lunch time but it was a Monday. Fair$!
UPDATE: this place is still delish!
Great and friendly staff, good food, great prices. My wife like the gorditas and she is really picky about them, so that is a plus. The only thing I didn't like was that they kept changing songs before they ended and couldn't keep the same volume while we were there, not that it matters but it did bother me.
Quick service, good food. Decent variety on the menu with a kids' section. Breakfast served all day. Mexican sodas/drinks.
Went here Sunday with my brother to support local. Loved it. They had fresh queso and it was so good. I had flautas and my brother had a stuffed pepper with corn tortillas. Just as FYI. They do use sour cream as a dressing for the salad. It is a little pricey. But I'd support this b4 Mcdonald's.
The posole was amazing!!!! The girls did a great job. Small hole in the wall with big portions.
My sister and I went for lunch and it was such a lovely time! Great music, fantastic customer service, and best of all, excellent food. I will definitely be coming back in the future!!
The home style menudo is clean and tasty. The service is quick and hospitable. I have been here twice on my visits to Austin and they never disappoint!
