Small hidden place but delicious pizza!
This place reminds me of one of those magic hole in the wall restaurants you would find in New York City and I mean that in the best way. The food is fantastic. Great pizza, great pasta, Stromboli…everything is delicious and Julio and Javier (chefs/owners) are the best. No complaints, go see what you are missing.
The tacos in the morning and fresh and good. They have a big selection. My only complaint is I wish they would use regular containers for salsa. They put the salsa in teeny tiny ziplock usually used for other things let’s just say… and makes it hard to not make a mess. The smell also seeps through the bag
The food was good. We didn't realize it was inside of a gas station. They were friendly.
Austin - the land of limited options, mostly mediocre, with any limited standouts there are being heavily overpriced.
Giovanni's pizza is not that. It's actually good pizza in the S. Lamar area for a fair price.
It's not the best pizza you've ever had, but it's a solid pizza for a solid price.
Italian food in Austin is generally very disappointing so my expectations were not high. However, Giovanni's was actually good, satisfying pizza that doesn't cost $30 for a pie (i'm looking at you, homeslice).
Glad I found this place. Will be my new go-to for pizza.
Do not let the location fool you, Giovanni’s has the best pizza in the South Lamar area. The crust is light, fluffy and crisp with a hint of sourdough. Their main style is thin but not like flat bread. The ingredients are always fresh, production is fast and the staff is very nice. This is the go to pizza for all the neighbors in this area.
Best kept pizza related secret in Austin... Their New York Style, 18 inch pepperoni is fantastic, especially for the price (if you pick it up and cut out the delivery monsters). Lots of speciality choices, too!
The downside (or upside, depending on your perspective) is its in the back of a Chevron station and seating is limited to an outdoor patio. IMHO this is great 'cause it's almost never crowded, but I could see how people who want to have a more sit down and be seen experience wouldn't like it.
👍 some of the most delicious/flavorful pizza around!
👍 friendly service
👍 plenty of outdoor / shaded tables to eat
👍 there's a sandwich place right next to Giovanni's in case you want a bite there also
I recommend a business sign outside. Definitely wouldn't have known there was a pizza place here without using Google Maps.
To be honest I don't leave that manny reviews let alone positive ones, but I'll tell you right now Giovannis pizza stand is a breath of fresh air on pizza. Never fails with the service, and the taste is perfect. I will always recommend this hidden gem over any other pizza.
I needed to order last minutes pizzas for my entire department. This was a last minute order and I called at 8:30am. I ended up ordering 22 pizzas and 8 salads Not only was the order 100% correct, the pizza's were delicious and ready right on time. I will definitely order again. Don't let the fact that this place is attached to a gas station fool you. Worth your time to stop buy and grab a bite. Sit at the nice tables outside or to go.
Giovanni is the man! He always has a smile on his face and recognizes you if you are a regular, and most importantly the food is very good. I get the Stromboli once a week with pepperoni garlic and jalapeños. Amazing.
Great low key spot to get some of your favorite pasta dishes. They have pizzas as well. I love the kitchen set-up. You definitely get thst authentic feel and taste in their food. I'm glad I found them. It's a great hidden gem! I'd recommend to anyone who craves Italian food for sure.
I've been coming here for years best hidden gem in Austin. The pasta is spectacular and the pizza is top notch. I can without a doubt say this is the best food I've ever purchased in a gas station in my life.
Not only is Giovanni‘s pizza good gas station pizza, it’s just good pizza in general. The Brussels sprouts, bacon and red pepper pizza is where it’s at. Their pastas are legit too. Can’t go wrong with this one. Love the prices, love the sizes. And Geovanni is such a nice guy. This place has been around forever for a reason.
Legit delicious… reminds me of my NY Italian friends cooking when they would invite me over for dinner. And how I miss NY Italian food!!! We tried pizza, pasta, meatballs and spicy Cesar salad- all delicious. Thank you for the tasty home cooked meal Giovanni’s! Better than any other Italian food I’ve had in TX.
Gas station pizza almost doesn't get better than this. Good pizza is good pizza, and Giovanni's is good pizza. The prices are absurdly cheap for the quality of the pies. They're made fresh and the ingredients are all delicious. The service is incredibly fast since most people visit fit the gas station and not the pizza. Their loss, your delicious gain.
Great pizza in an unassuming gas station! Medium thickness crust, fair amount of cheese.
Stopped by the gas station to buy a phone charger not knowing there was even a pizza place inside. Left with by far one of the best pieces of pizza I have ever eaten. And his homemade ranch is amazing. I don't leave reviews very often, but after the very first bite that I took, I had to bust out Google reviews and give a shout out. Will for sure be back very soon.
My girlfriend brought home some pizza, stromboli, meatballs and a spicy ceasar salad, and I must say this is some of the best pizza and stromboli I have had in Austin.
The pricing is absurdly cheap too which makes it even better! This is my new favorite pizza place, and might overtake Via313 just because of all the options besides pizza that are amazing.
