Didn't know this existed until checking out the Mueller area. Quite a nice little cafe with some very nice Texas beer and food. It was a little warm outside today but the fans and misters they have definitely took care of that along with the ice cold beer. The afternoon happy hour prices were quite reasonable.

Food and ambience were nice. I had the brisket sandwich. I like the BBQ better than Rudy's.. could have used a little more meat on the sandwich considering a half lb is the same price as the sandwich.

More like 4.5 stars if I'm honest -- I've been here four times. Each time, the food has been very good and the service was friendly. The most recent time, they accidentally delivered me someone else's order, but I noticed right away and it was fixed immediately. This place is great to get you fueled up for your shopping. I recommend the Carolina pulled pork sandwich with fries. They give a lot of fries with the order and they're actually some of the best French fries I've had.

Good cheap food. Using ingredients from HEB and prepared well. The pizzas are just fine but can be a bit heavy no the sauce. Ask them to cook it longer. The BBQ is cooking 24 hours a day so it is actually pretty good. The beans have brisket in it so you can get more meat in your side dishes. The asian bowls are just fine. The salads tend to be big with lots of things but light on leafy greens. They have weekly discounts that you can grab with your smart phone. Look for the 3 sided displays on all the tables and use your smart phone bar code reader for the weekly deals. They stack with the happy hours and daily discounts. Works out pretty well. They have 6-8 beer taps all local beer and sell growlers. Live music Thursday-Sunday. Out door seating is really nice. Lots of people watching and misters. This place really feels like they thought about how to run a good place and then added it to a grocery store... the opposite of what you normally get.

Solid beer selection with about 6 to 8 rotating taps. Pints available for on-site consumption or takeaway options in 32 ounce and 64 ounce growlers. Good food with excellent prices during happy hour. Chrissy brussel sprouts were fantastic. BBQ sliders were a little underwhelming and lost them the fifth star. Staff is super friendly and accommodating.

I absolutely adore this place! We come here every Thursday night for AustinLive Trivia and it’s so fun. The BBQ is seriously top notch, the sides are delicious, and the atmosphere is so wonderful out on the patio! Love it!

Went here for the pre-opening. The highly anticipated HEB Mueller is beautiful. The cafe inside looks similar to that of the Whole Foods on 6th. The employees there recommended I try their Prosciutto, Arugula & Parmesan pizza and that's what I did. It was absolutely amazing! GET IT! That pizza is definitely an Austin pizza contender. My brother got the BBQ Chicken & Smoked Gouda pizza which was full of BBQ flavor, sometimes a little too much for me. Although the pizzas are a little oily, they're still good. Since we couldn't finish the pizzas, we got a to-go box and ate it later. The staff is super friendly; I think every employee/chef came to our table to ask how our food was. I also got to try their St Louis Spare Ribs and Brisket...both decent as well. I would recommend this cafe for family and friends, not pricey either. Good luck to you Cafe Mueller!

The review is for the barbecue: My wife and I were going to grab some Vietnamese food for dinner, but it seems like all the restaurants in that genre close at 9 pm. We live in Kyle so we were looking for a new place to try in Austin at this point. We have had heard good things about the cafe at the new HEB in the Mueller development. Some of our friends have gone as far as saying it is the best barbecue they have ever had. What?! Whole Food does decent barbecue, but how about HEB? It had opened recently. The cafe at Central Market is pretty good, but Central Market is a step up from HEB. I was not sure what I was getting myself into. The wife ordered a Cuban sandwich, and I got the three meat plate. I got the usual hat trick of moist brisket, pork ribs, and sausage with sides of potato salad and creamed corn. I bit into the brisket and was surprised. What is this? Good brisket from a grocery store? The bark was nice with a good smoke ring. The brisket was tender and tasty. I feel like the brisket could have been even better if I went there much earlier in the day. I bite into the ribs and was even more confused. Good ribs from a grocery store? They had a nice sweet glaze and smoky. The meat resisted a little bit coming off the bone but still tender. I bit into the all-beef sausage and was brought back to earth. It was just okay. It was very meaty and did not have enough fat content. The grit and casing was ideal though. The creamed corn was okay and not to be confused with the kind you would find at Rudy's. The potato salad was creamy and yummy. There was a lot of food on the plate, and I could not finish it off. It was a pleasantly good dining experience. The prices are very reasonable here. You are not just limited to barbecue. They have pasta, sandwiches, pizza, Asian, and the list goes on. There is so much going on here. They have various Texas brews on draft as well. There are flaws for me to review Cafe Mueller after one visit, but their Q is definitely legit nonetheless. Considering my first visit was surprisingly good, I will definitely be back to make sure this is no fluke.

The Mueller HEB itself is one of the best HEB's in Austin. They have a great selection of really great and healthy food here and the cafe is simply amazing. The cafe itself is outstanding and has very great food and good space for sitting, especially outside where the atmosphere gets a few steps cooler with the colorful water wall and live music. This is one of the only grocery store cafes that I'd recommend you to check out for lunch outings with co-workers, meetings, and even a small party or two with friends. Due to its location in Mueller there are a ton of other activities in the area that you could certainly go and enjoy after a delicious meal here.

I went and got 1.5 Lbs of brisket to go the other night. It was pretty good, but not outstanding; yet here, it probably comes down to a matter of personal preference, for I am not one who ordinarily enjoys burnt ends and saltiness, and this is some salty burnt-ended brisket. But it's well cooked and good and gluten-free. (Although I prefer the Whole Foods barbeque at 6th and Lamar, I'll likely be making the trip to Cafe Mueller more frequently, since it's just a five minute drive from my home as opposed to fifteen.) Downsides: They serve bread with the barbeque without asking, which is kind of an annoying surprise when you're gluten intolerant. The sauce also looks quite good but is not gluten-free, a disappointment given that most other BBQ joints have delicious gluten-free sauce.

great place to grab a quick bite and sit on the patio. I thought it sounded pretty strange to have lunch at a grocery store but it was actually really good. I got the Asian stir-fry bowl and it was wonderful. Really surprised the quality of the food that is prepared there.

As far as grocery eateries go, this is easily the best I have ever seen. So credit where it is due, in that sense. Judging by the standard of other restaurants, it's very good, but a bit pricey. I think one could argue that the excellent happy hour and growler deals more than offset this, however.

This is one of the best grocery store eateries I have found. They have weekly happy hour specials and Sunday brunch. The sangria is yummy and my husband enjoys the beer. We only eat there when we get a coupon on the back of our store receipt. The portions are good size. Some of the entrees I was happy I tried but will probably not get again. The quinoa salad for example I thought would be half lettuce and half quinoa but was literally a full bowl of quinoa. The lime shrimp rice bowl was good but as I got to the bottom of the bowl it was turning into too much of one flavor. Try a chocolate chip cookie for dessert! They serve it warm all that was missing was the glass of milk.

I've lived fairly close to the this HEB for almost three years now and have become quite the regular for weekend lunches at Cafe Mueller. While the offerings are not as extensive as the Central Market cafes, I'm still impressed by the quality this HEB offers. The fact that they produce such decent BBQ is a testament to their efforts. The outdoor seating area is wonderful throughout much of the year and often packed with families and dogs on the weekend. I predominantly get sandwiches when I come here for lunch and am a huge fan of the Brie Pesto Arugula and the Chipotle Turkey + Bacon + Avocado. All sandwiches come with a side of potato chips and pickled veggies (yum!). My only complaint is the serving sizes can be extremely variable day-to-day. The Neapolitan-style pizzas are also quite solid but sometimes take a really long time to be prepared. The simple Margherita and Buffalo Yard Bird pizzas are my favorites. I'm not a huge fan of the stir-fried Asian entree dishes. The brown rice always seems a little off and is usually swimming in an overwhelming amount of sauce. The Brussels Sprouts are phenomenal and the closest I've had to what Uchiko offers. If you haven't had them before or don't usually like brussel sprouts, it's definitely worth trying them at least once.
