I love the food, the people, and the purpose. You have to go in knowing what to expect as far as the atmosphere. The only issue I have are the hours. I wish they were more consistent.

Lola's food is made with love. Her dishes transcend analysis, and just warm the soul. I loved every bite & can't wait to come back!

Food was a little pricey at this tiny restaurant but worth every penny. The food was fantastic. Smokey and flavorful seasonings that you will not soon forget. Try the chicken and you will know what I mean.

Good for what ails ya!. Queen Lola defines Soul Food! A unique place for sure. Her heart and soul goes into every dish. Not a fast food restaurant. Lola is represented in media elsewhere; I'm talking about the FOOD. There is no better gumbo. There is no wrong choice on the menu which varies with what's on hand. As someone said, 'it's like eating in someone's house'. Lola tells you what she has, you say what you want; she goes in the kitchen and brings it back. You eat and leave satisfied. Good simple food.

I walked into Lola's and was so surprised at the three tables and crazy decor. Some might be put off, but, to me, it was home-ie. I ordered the gumbo, which was good, but super salty. My friends loved what they got, and I thought it was fun to sit across from strangers. The best part of the experience was Lola, who could convince you to buy anything and everything on the menu. Go here if you're looking for something completely different. Don't go here if you're looking for an efficient, normal dinin experience.

I went in for lunch last week after hearing about the place. It's a tiny little place that has a backwoods Cajun feel to it. There are only 3 tables and enough seating for maybe 10 people. The day I went in, my friend and I were the only ones there and were welcomed by one of Lola's daughters. She was friendly, helpful and a very pleasant person to have waiting on us. Now to the good. If you like the sanitized, cookie cutter food at the big, chain places then stay away. Lola's food is down home and you have to expect it to be less that 5 star presentable. There were a few bones and fatty pieces in the gumbo but it was the most amazing bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo I've had. The red beans and rice were creole style with peppers and tomatoes, which was a bit different than I was used to. It was a treat to find such wonderful good that is slow prepared and made to order.

Lola's is a great open hearted person which I feel flows into her food. Her Gumbo, red beans and rice, and my wife love's her catfish. I meet her all the time before she opens up. It's a lovely soul food kitchen.

I love her.. Soul food. Her spices are the kicker. Try the fried chicken plate or the gumbo. BYOB. She is the only person cooking, so expect to wait for your food. It's totally worth it.
