First time ordering from here. I lovedddd everything! We got the jalapeño chicken lunch special and the beef lomein. The portions are amazing, 3 -4 people can probably eat off of just that. Will definitely be going back.
Don’t let the outside of this Chinese restaurant fool you, it’s a genuine hole in the wall that serves some of the best general Tsos chicken you’ve ever had. Although there is no sit down option, they usually have your order ready within 10 minutes. I’ve never had any true complaints and have been going here for the last 6-7 months! Highly recommend First Wok!
Just moved to the neighborhood and have tried three(3) other Chinese restaurants. FINALLY! I found one with some flavor! I admit, that I judged a book by its store front. But after 3 failed searches, I went back to the reviews of 1st WOK. The reviews are true and this now my ONLY Chinese restaurant. Thank you, 1st WOK for flavorful Hot & Sour Soup, yummy Fried Dumplings and a delicious white sauce Chicken & Veggies! I'll be back soon!
I'm in love with the fried rice combination. Huge huge portion at the wonderful right price. And I'm meaning huge portions. Lot of meat and delicious flavor. I came back two days later for more lol. I'm so happy with this place . Keep doing it great Amigos.
Found them during the first winter storm. They are amazing because no one was brave enough to be open. Well two years later I am still enjoying First Wok! Fast, friendly and delicious 😋
Love this place. Ordered pepper steak and fried rice and egg roll,.. was delicious. Also like their general tso chicken, and chicken lomein with brocoli. Usually the place I go to for Chinese food. It's the best 👌.
Kung Pao beef. I'm from Austin and 1st wok is my favorite Chinese restaurant. This was the lunch plate, comes with a soup fried rice and an egg roll. It was delicious, and their food is never disappointing, this time a little too much celery but their food makes up for it. I'm never disappointed when it comes to this restaurant. Born and raised here in Austin. 1989 to be exact and this place was passed down to me from my parents. If you haven't tried first wok then you're missing out, can't say much else for those that have never tried it besides, JOIN us Austin natives. And represent with us to all you who aren't from here!
My friends told me about this place to try for a quick take out place and it was great! I came in around 9 pm on a Friday and the kids were playing in the dining room which just showed me the dedication of these owners! The food flavor was amazing and is now definitely my #1 go to spot for chinese take out! A local must.
Our family favorite Chinese spot. Food is always fresh and they have the best hot and sour soup and triple crown dish. Employees are family and very nice. Also they never mess up our order after 5 years so far
My go to take out restaurant. They serve big servings of food. I love that they’re open on Christmas as we’ve been ordering from them for the last 3 years over the holiday. The turn around time is quick when you order in typically but on the holidays be prepared for a longer wait as everyone is indulging on their Christmas take out. The wonton soup, orange chicken, fried rice, and rangoons are amazing.
It has been over a month since I visited Austin, and, subsequently, visited First Wok. I still think about it. It was so good that my friends and I frequently confide in each other that we still think about that divine cuisine. If you are considering visiting Austin, please go. I beg of you.
Trying to have a “Succulent Chinese Meal”? 1st Wok is the best Chinese take out place in this part of town, I pick up food from here once or twice a month and have never been disappointed. Their portions are RIDICULOUSLY HUGE, they literally stuff as much food in the styrofoam containers as possible it’s crazy, one entree is around three days worth of food. I usually get the General Tso’s chicken and I’ll ask them to go light on the sauce +add extra peppers because I just like it that way; their general tso’s has a very distinct, unique and almost hot saucy-like flavor that sets it apart from others I’ve had before, and the chunks of white meat chicken are never fatty and always juicy fresh. Their Lo Mein is really good too, and I’ve also had their Sha Cha Beef which is basically Beef and Broccoli but with additional veggies like carrots, onions, and wittle baby corns, the beef is tender and flavorful and the veggies are all crisp and fresh. Another thing I absolutely love about this place is their fried rice, it’s just so SOFT and MOIST and FLUFFY, you can choose between white or fried rice with your entree and I don’t think I’ve ever had their white rice because I just can’t stray from the fried one, it’s great. Lastly their egg rolls are really good too, crispy and they actually have meat inside and not just a bunch of cabbage. I also love their dumplings steamed or fried. The only thing I’ve eaten here that is pretty bland is their wonton soup, but whatever it’s cool. One Tuesday I had Hunan Lion because 1st Wok is closed on Tuesdays and ugh it was bad, it doesn’t even compare and tasted like generic mall Chinese, but the bad kind of mall Chinese.
I get sick from eating here but it’s because I usually just can’t stop eating and then my tummy hurts haha… and I don’t leave many reviews for things but I love 1st Wok and I want them to be around forever so go support them, you won’t regret it.
